Review by TL The Writing Tiger

While India has a rich cultural heritage, the country is definitely socially conservative. This story gives the reader a glance at the struggles of gay life in a land where it is far from accepted. I personally liked the story for its beautiful simplicity.

Your welcome, hon... And thank you for the review. Being gay can be really hard in a society that doesn't even acknowledge you. But, hopefully the change is not that far...

I liked it, even though it made me want to cry. Very nicely done dear.

Thanks Rose.. :)

It was sad but a good story. It reminds me how lucky I am to live in a safe place out of harms way.

Well done, BeaStKid!

You've done a great job of portraying the fear such an event can produce, as well as the consequences long term. Sadly, I don't feel that it is unique to India. :( At least he had someone stand by him -- all too many people have to face things alone.

Beasty, one of those stories where I as an Indian can totally relate to it. Loved it very much.

You're doing an amazing job by displaying the negativity that gays here in India (and also in some other countries as well) have to go through. I for one cannot write stories like this. It's just too difficult so I tend to stick with simpler ones with an easy subject.

Well done, my friend

Thank Graeme. I agree, this is not unique to India. The problems I depicted in the story are universal. But, here in India, there is an added problem of gay sex being a criminal offence punishable by law. Sigh!

I'm glad that you liked the story. :)

Thanks D,

I hate displaying this negativity around, but I felt this suited the theme. Some of my future stories show our situation in a positive sense as well. Even in this story, there is a positive aspect, where Karan finds solace in Dost and Varun.

This is almost a true story, narrated to me by one of the members of an NGO working for gay rights, for your information. :)

Wow Beasty! I liked that story, it was very realistic and offered me a glimpse into a situation I'm personally unfamiliar with. How moving that it's actually based on a true story! Of course that makes it both all the sadder, and all the more poignant and beautiful that it worked out in the end and that Karan found a boyfriend and people to support him!

Great job!

With that said, I'm going to go read the next story in the world of these characters!
