I kinda agree with everyone on most things here.

I think that parents jump on the band wagon when they realize that homosexuality can be an option in a video game... But do they play them? I am sure some parents do, but many don't. They are getting up in arms, and what for? Over the possibility that their child might see some homosexual action?

Firstly, if they have an issue with homosexuality, that is their individual issue, and as responsible adults, i don't feel they should be showing their impressionable children how to be intolerable.

Secondly, history has shown that when you withhold from a child, they try all the more to get. so if they want to play a videogame, at some point they will.

I don't understand the logic behind it.

A video game isn't going to turn someone gay. I was gay before i started playing tomb raider on my PlayStation... I just didn't know it because i was too young to think about it.

A video game isn't going to make someone switch sexuality, just like it isn't going to make someone shoot up a school... If everyone was that impressionable, the world would be in an apocalyptic state right now just from people watching the nightly news. If you are concerned with what a movie, or music, or a video game might turn your child in to... it's not the video game that needs looking at.

For example, i have played the first two Mass Effect games, several times, and went for the male - female romance option... I have seen many films that portray the love that a man and woman share... I have personally listened to romance music from a man to a woman and a woman singing to a man and have seen plenty of man on woman action in various forms of media... and was i influenced to be a straight guy? Did it make me desire a woman? NO!

I am GAY all the WAY, and that's the WAY it's going to STAY...OKAY!

Actully EA/Bioware are not the only ones to include gay characters/ gay relationships in thire games. Bethesda Studios made a little know game this past year called "The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim" and in that game you could marry whom ever you wished regardless of Gender. also Rockstar Studios had "The ballad of gay Tony" expansion for Grand Theft Auto. also in one of thire older titles "Bully" you played a troubled teen sent to a prep school and there were certain Charcters that were Gay and you could have your character make out with them.

You mean I can't turn you into a strait person with my ebil video games...

I didn't know Grand Theft Auto had one... and Bully too.

And you mean Bethseda came up with a game?! Posted Image

It depends on the romance etc... what I want to do... like in some games the guys aren't that attractive (but then the women aren't either)

And In Dragon Age Origins... Posted Image I wanted Allister Posted Image and they wouldn't give him to me :(

Not sure if I am going to like how Dragon Age 2 is going to end... for the male romance characters :(

It ends fine as long as you don't side with the faction they're against. If you're gonna side with the Templars, romance Fenris, if you're gonna side with the mages, romance Anders. I just got my Anders love scene......he was invisible for the whole thing so Hawke was making out with air, lol.

Oh I know, but BioWare are the ones that pretty much started doing it with real romances. The Bully thing always seemed like more of a "hey, let's be controversial and piss off parents! That's still cool right?" thing than anything else, and they've never had a real gay option in any of their other games. Even in Gay Tony you played as his straight employee. Skyrim was good for actually getting to play as a gay guy, but the romance system is pretty shallow, and I doubt it ever would have been put in if people weren't so overwhelmingly supportive of BioWare doing it. Not that I'm complaining, Skyrim was a great game and I love being able to have a real gay character instead of trying to avoid the romance and just make him gay in my head, lol. Dragon's Dogma lets you be gay too, lets you romance literally anyone in the game actually. So it's a trend that's spreading, even to Japanese developers. Gives me hope for gay romances in Persona 5. *crosses fingers* lol.

You could easily have Alistair. Just use the console to unlock the romance and voila, tent time with Ali Posted Image

Parents need to be brushed off.

The world does not revolve around their little brats.

I'm so sick of family-friendly bullshit I could hurl.

I want the family-contemptuous stuff with whips and chains and naked slave boys.

I want to be hand fed grapes and jaegermeister while I take a breather from the orgy.

I want to hop in a sauna with Brett Farve, a bottle of Thousand Island dressing and turn up the heat.

I want to go right for the extra-salt, extra-sugar high calorie man sauce and skip the salad.

I want to slap an Abercrombie & bitch model on the ass and tell him he's too damned skinny and to come back when there's some meat on his bones.

Posted Image

I want to jump in a pool of naked people and go pearl diving.

I want to do all of this stuff and so does everybody else that's honest and doesn't have a stick as big as a tree stuck up their @ss.

I'll bet good money that some of the loudest voices bellowing for family-friendly horse shit are doing so because they know that they are filthy whores and don't want it to get out.

[Rant /end]

Disinterested in kiddie games.

They stuff I wanted to play had nothing to do with hedgehogs or Italian plumbers.

I'm more interested in the stuff below:

Advanced Gaming Systems http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpoon_%28series%29

Shrapnel Games http://www.shrapnelgames.com

Lately I've been running simulations of a new Egyptian-Israeli conflict. Egypt has been buying American weapons for 30 years and has just undergone a significant change in government. Egyptian M1A1 tanks vs Israeli Merkva tanks is a bloody, awful mess. Israel prevails in most of the sims but not without taking significant damage.

Another very scary simulation is the US vs China in the Western Pacific. Our fleet is shrinking and the Chinese fleet and air force is growing exponentially. If things continue going in this direction, China will be able to dominate the region by the mid 2020s and we will be unable to protect our key allies in the region- Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and the Philippines.

This game is violent with lots of blood and gore and parents are worried about a little guy on guy action? They seriously think THAT will scar their kids? Not to mention the het porniness? KIDS shouldn't even be playing that game. Adults 18+ can make their own damn decisions. Sometime the stupidity of people REALLY gets to me.

Well if there old enough to play a game which inclues sexual intercourse of any nature, or indications of such (which is usually M and MA 15+ in Australia), then the kids should be able to make there own decisions in a vertual world by that point...
