AudioAl Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Hi, fellow Domaholics! I can't make up my mind whether Oliver and David are indeed one and the same ... but I do agree with virtually everybody else here that this story is DEFINITELY C R E E P Y ! But thanks to Dom's phenomenal writing skills -- I'M HOOKED on another Luka Masterpiece! Anyway, a few days ago Nickolasjames8 posted that he enjoyed listening to some Pink Floyd while reading TOSOM. I can see that! And Dom has posted about music he listens to while writing. I wonder what he might choose for TOSOM? This all made me think that if there is any Dom story that begs for a "soundtrack" ... THIS IS IT ! So, I'm curious. What might you choose to listen to while reading TOSOM? What do you think would make the perfect soundtrack for this strange but totally intriguing story? What songs? What artists? CD's? I don't care what type of music your choice might be. Let me know your suggestions, please, as I have something in mind I can hopefully share with you later. MANY THANKS ! -- Al
rknapp Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Another Brick in the Wall (sorry, Pink Floyd goes too well with this story) even covers of this song go very well... if not better with this story.
NickolasJames8 Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I'd say every song between Hey You and Comfortably Numb is perfect for this story, too
Maximoff Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds goes very well with the 'feel' of the whole story. Anything with a cello (I think), the cello (or chello)-ist in Damien Rice's band made a great cover on Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix. Umm yeah.
MayaMys Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 With all the mentions of how Oliver is special needs, I was thinking Special Needs by Placebo. Pink Floyd works wonderfully, too, though usually I don't like listening to music while reading.
glomph Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Something really creepy, like "It's a Small World after All" from the Disney ride.
shadowgod Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 (edited) Its a small world? lol I guess but Id start seeing all the characters as bad wooden puppets lining the sides of the lake as Oliver and Frank row by in Olivers boat... I was thinking black eyed dog by Nick Drake or Boadicea by Enya or even Bad Moon Rising by CCR and hellelujah by Jeff Buckly All of those are good and creepy in their own right Just thought of another one There's no home for you here by The white Stripes Edited August 16, 2006 by shdowgod
Narcidius Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Something really creepy, like "It's a Small World after All" from the Disney ride. Omg... that so made my day.
shadowgod Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 HAHA just thought of another one Secretley by Skunk Anaise....
DomLuka Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 The Music I listen to while writing OS: Hurt: Vol 1 Evans Blue: The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume 10 years: The Autumn Effect Papa Roach: Getting Away with Murder Three Days Grace: one-x And, on occasion I mix in a little Zombie and Clutch
Boy In Doubt Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Ooh, I have one! "Unwell" by Matchbox Twenty 'cause of the lyrics: "I'm not crazy I'm just a little unwell. I know right now you can't tell. But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see...a different side of me."
NickolasJames8 Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 oooh, I know...Jonathan Coultans cover of Baby Got Back goes good with this story too
shadowgod Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 in keeping with the creepiness of its a small world... how about the siamese cat song covered by bobby mcfarren
aaron Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I think the latest album by Midlake "The Trials of Van Occupanther" fits it perfectly. It's weird and moody and spooky and it tells a sad story. I recommend it to anyone -it's really excellent in a way that not too many albums are today. I also want to say that I really love TOSOM, and I love the people at GA -I just don't say it enough! -Aaron
