And I am taking advice from Cal and Savvie and refraining from giving my neighbour the friendly finger-wiggle wave i usually do. Mind you she probably thinks its arthritis!

I am inrigued by the description of the angry young man in "dark dust- covered tattered clothing". As if he has walked a long distance. Not the well dressed truck riding holier than thou 'christians' we have encountered so far. Yes he spooked Midnight, yes he hurled a rock, not at the horse but at the gate, and his anger was presumably directed, from the obscenity he yelled, towards Jake personally? Someone from Jake's past and not the present confrontations?

Tyler back as the steadying rock of the family. Taine in his arms. Simon and co. with Matt in his/ their arms. Charlie with his half demon baby Lord, and Pip for him in the wings, once he's finished wrestling with Lynix. We've just had great closure on another amazing flight of imagination.

The rescue plan is being put into action. My image to take to bed tonight. Sadly Matt was otherwise engaged but if he were to have been with Simon and Taine would he ( as an apprentice butcher) have worn a real pork pie?

I do adore your baby creations. Cecil and the baby cherub. For an infinitesimal moment I thought Cecil was definitely a chip off the old block( i.e Charlie as was). Cherub shaking its rattle, Cecil squeaking Mr Binkie, the beginning of an eternal relationship? Then he becomes uncle Matt !! Oh dear. Have I got the right perspective on this story? When every commentator dwells on the drama (WHICH IS DEFINITELY ENGROSSING) why do I find so much entertainment and humour In half a dozen lines that create an image that will stick with me! The mark of a great writer.

What a delight is Cecil! Bringing his avus paternus more into the family mix. I'm sure there is a great chaotic future awaiting him.

And so the end is near. The pack restored. Evil vanquished. Skarg adopted. Consummation finally for Theo Jack and Vince.

If I wanted a dry history there are plenty of books around. The story you are telling whilst grounded in fact is all the more compelling because you are adding life to an historical episode, fleshing out its bare bones with a fantastic description of what it would have been like on the frontier of Germania. And giving us, a real bonus I know, a developing story of betrayal and horror, and of trust and love.

I am abashed. Apologies must be mine to you. This was not intended to upset you and was definitely not intended as a sarcastic rant. I would not be following this story with the thoroughness I am if I were not ''involving'' myself as well as enjoying it. There are twists and turns in this fantasy that I love, and the questions I raised I had hoped to be humorous as well as exploratory. If I may, I shall continue to immerse myself in the story.

The Roman army was the most disciplined and formidable fighting force of the time. With few exceptions it had proven invincible in battle. Varus' belief in this, and his trust in the 'friendship' of Arminius and the subjugated Cherusci, have led him into complacency. We now know that Arminius is lying to him. Ingomar knows this too, does not know why, but for the moment is content 'to wait and see'. Marcus must do the same, trusting in the bond developing between them. A bond that is surely going to be severely tried!

'All's well that ends well'. Well not quite yet. There are some loose ends and relationships to be tied up. And more hilarity after the seriousness of the litigation? Please.

Matt has a job!! I thought he had one already - creating chaos. But he now has a new opportunity to do that, working for a former enemy. Or is he settling down to a life of domesticity in the Hartley household especially now Simon is living there? And will Cecil become the new bringer of chaos? Good to have some relief from legal machinations.

With all the legal stuff being sorted, for me the most pressing questions are : has Cecil's nappy been changed yet? and by whom? I hope his patres are not in this day and age leaving it to his avia!

Taine's backward latin words that soothed Cecil in Tesco did not make sense. Cecil needs instruction in the declension of latin nouns. His first word surely should have been 'Patres'. Let's get Matt working on that. He's looking (?) for a career.
