Circumnavigation 74: Intrepid Investigators.
Canuk replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
I I am thoroughly enjoing this story - and I agree with the comments about the sexual tension between the boys..... that and screaming at Joel and Lisa to both shut up and wise up about Brigdet and George...... congrats and I look forward to more -
Mr Arbour, now that was awesome writing! the emotion, Granger's efforts to look after himself, his and Traver's crew, and ,of course, Darby were so well integrated into the story. Then the sex - that was some truly amazing writing. congratulations. bloody excellent C

I am sorry Mr Arbour, but I am expected out to dinner in the next 30 minutes, and here I am awash with tears with eyes that look like cherry tomatoes....... You write inhumanly well........

great chapter; I enjoyed the Stef/Gathan encounters(s) and the opportunity for Brad to do a little more growing up. I just can't imagine wanting to control people aroun me like that; it could be plain laziness - the amount of energy needed to exercise that sort of control is way more than I'd be willing to invest in such a futile exercise ..... I enjoyed the Will narration. Gathan is till, for me "one step removed", so I enjoyed the back-to-the-family aspect of the Wii -Brad exchange. what's with the fleur-de-lis background all of a sudden??????

This post had me completely gobsmacked: you mean to say you not ony remember characters from X books ago, but that they happened to share a floor while at College? good god; I am thrilled if I have the vaguest recollection of the characters that have slept together in the current story (though I'll admit that that is one of exclusion rather than inclusion!), let alone what happened when I was a young'un!!

wholeheartedly agree, I must admit that you well and truly surprised me with this one. I had a feeling from the moment the two vessels taking on the frigate were sighted that something out of the ordinary was about to happen, but JT's death was definately not something that I thought of. One thing - you could have given them one last "bang at the can" (so to speak) on the Rock, before JT's assignation wih his maker..... Hey but that's probably why you're an author, and I'm a runt-reader!!!

As mentioned elsewhere I am enjoying this really well written story, its twists, dare I say it; clifhangers and Trev's development. I do hope that he gets laid soon - poor bugger really suffers in that area. Then of course, having got laid he can find "true love" - all while being pursued by people who want his head, John the Baptist-like, on a plate! should be easy! However, Mt James, your skills seem to be up to if, so I look forward to the story's resolution..... (I, too, am not altogether happy with the new-format GA - I'd jusy got to grips with the ld GA when they changed it....)

came to the story late, so I read the first 68 chapters over ~10 days - great story, very well written. looking forward to Trev's next steps. I also hope he finds true (obtainable) love somewhere along the timeline!! I'll allow you this week off..... just don't make a habit of it!

I must admit to reading ch 2 with one eye on who next would be Sir George's comforter!! Mr Arbour, , you are aging dear Grainger very well - I liked the, momentary, regret at leaving his growing family. Now find him someone to bugger before his frustration causes him harm!

congratulations on adding even more life and excitement to this wonderful series. Developing his story so that the political pressures of the age have an impact (a prominent impact?) is a brilliant way of increasing the dimensions of the story. I feel that the effect of his knighthood, his sister-in-law's gambling, and the reporter, will all test our dear Grainger (and Lady Grainger)'s abilities. I look forward as ever to a wonderful tale. best way to find typos is to read the article backwards - they you read for words and not sense. Of course if you are writing a 300 page tome, it may take a while, but it works well on shorter articles.

I have had two wonderful relationships and one utterly shithouse one. If one was able to stand all three in a row (and stop my first and third from slicing and dicing my second) and after considerable analysis of their respectve personalities the person doing the analysis could tell me "what I look for in a partner", I would be truly grateful! I was with my first partner for ~15 years, my the third (and current) for 12 years. The two of them could not be more different; different sex, different apprach to life, different family relationships, different attitudes to money, my family, my friends i.e completely different. And yet I love (loved) them both and still have considerable regard for my first partner. if you're wondering about the second, don't; useless piece of pond scum that he is/was. all his to say if you haven't found "it" yet, or have found it and lost it and are looking again, then don't be too hung up on what you think you might like, beacuse based on my experience, you may not consciously know!

I know it is a "only" a story, albeit a great one, well told, but I am such a wimp where it come to taking life; hiring hitmen is just beyond the pale and pretty-well unjustifiable. But as I noted when I started this comment- it's a story and stories have to have drama, conclusions and a finality that just doesn't exist in RL. I look forward to the continuing saga!

enjoying the story as it unfolds. Missing the previous format. Just a thought about the the "breaking condom" in ch71 - wouldn't Brad and/or Robbie have thought to suggest the "morning after" pill, or slightly more dramatically, a D&C? I know they both come with all sorts of side effects etc, but seems at one or both should have done a little more instead of "she needs your support ". I understand that the story is not the place for a debate on the subject, but Brad and Robbie's response just seems so lame.....
-
not sure about the "some one", how about "some-many"! and Mr Arbour - what is this about the next chapter being the last? I don't thnk so..... you have seen what the plebs can do in Egypt and Tunisia and that was just over democracy!, just think what your poor ignorant followers could do to you if you deprive them of their Grainger? do you really want to run that risk?

I, too, am glad the Brian / Brad battle is coming to an end - it was / is preoccupying Brad to an unhealthy degree. however I am not sure I really liked how it has ended (if in fact it has - dear Mark has a way of being more unexpected than the Inquisition). I am so much of a supporter of justice over revenge and what I feel has happened here to Brian is pure revenge and no justice. Yes, Brian is wriiten as one of the least trustworthy people ever, but he is still human and we as humans have devised ways of dealing with people who treat others badly. Of course, this is a story and what would a story be without drama. but there is some nobility in restraint and I think I would have liked to see Brad's inner nobility come through rather his animal "you hurt what's mine so I'll hurt you". Perhpas I am more JP than Brad.......

That must have done wonders for Mann's career!! Nice to be back with Grainger.... he is a bit like an errant lover that wanders off every now and again!
-
hmmm... the "love shack" is certainly over the top!!! your scary imagination has really run riot! mad bastard!
-
Mark , so what is the new link to both the Cap series and my beloved Grainger? are the two existing sites just to be left as is? sorry if this was covered elsewhere - due to complex reasons I have been only an infrequent reader the last month or so. As I mentioned elsewhere while the latest in teh CAP saga wasa great story the format sucked!! but if this is the only way we can get our sustenance, so be it! Regards C

Method.... your fantasies are priceless!!!
-
this is worthy of one of your story-lines. who would be so small minded as to sign up to GA specifically to drive down a completely artificial ranking. The person(s) concerned need real help really soon. I just hope they get it.
-
I whole heartedly agree!! what's with the double spaced, perhaps triple spaced type? I know "white space" is seen as god... but that's just weird!!! Please say it will be back........ also how do I access this apart from links in notes in the forum? sorry, 6:44a.m and no coffee yet..... grumpy!
-
you did and what a chapter..... nothing like a little voyeurism with one's breakfast!! (breakfast here in Oz, anyway).... glad Lark's not dead.....
-
mark , there is a real bastard streak in you, isn't there..... fancy after a week leaving us there...... good god, man, have you no heart?
-
so, Mark , if I understand correctly what you are saying is that all your sexual encounters are surprises.......ie no time to plan... I suppose there is something to be said for a completely spontaneous sex-life!
