    What to Feel

Aaron is brilliant. He knows EXACTLY what he is doing. He knows that Rory was expecting him at the same time as before. He deliberately showed up way later, making Rory want him more and more. Aaron has mental problems. Rory has unresolved emotional problems. Seth is completely normal, just caught between worlds figuring out who he is. Rory is physically attracted to Aaron. Rory is a horny teen virgin who's never had anyone touch his peepee. He is dying to have his peepee touched and is willing to ignore all the warning signs about Aaron. Rory has a deadly poison in his system. The scientific name is "splooge". If a teen boy doesn't remove this deadly poison, three, four even five times a day the deadly poison rots your brain, starting first in the part of the brain that controls judgment. Eddie, Jase, Luke and Rory need to sit down once, for several hours if need be, and talk about everything that is bothering everyone. Bring it all out, deal with it and move on. They have TALKED about doing that but something always happens.
  2. I've known a dozen Aarons. They play the new guys on the boulevard like a Stradivarius. They know just the right thing to say, the right subtle touch to make, the 'oh you probably hate me anyway' pity party, etc. Rory will fall for it. Rory will get hurt. But he'll live.

    Calm

Luke is bent out of shape because Rory gave him shit, and Eddie and Jase shit about lying, while keeping HIS secret. When Rory saw the hurt in Luke's face at Rory being "disappointed", that was the time for Rory to come clean and not be a liar himself. And please, is Rory the dumbest 16 year old on the planet that he didn't have questions about Jase and Eddie from the get go? I think Seth knows Aaron. Seth knows that Rory is just another notch on his belt to Aaron and he doesn't want Rory to be hurt by Aaron, the way Aaron hurt him.

    House of Liars

Ummm, but you are okay with Rory's lies? Rory had his chance to tell Luke he was gay, but he decided to ummm, keep it a secret. "You are BLACK!" screamed the kettle to the pot. Rory has been a pain in the ass since he arrived. Luke was right on that. If Rory hadn't been an ass, petulant and self-pitying that first week, he would have heard all he wanted from Eddie that first week. But now Rory, who apparently thinks being lied to is a grave sin, is perfectly fine with himself lying to everyone else.

    I See

The problem was, I didn’t want to tell him why. I knew that I was being stubborn, but it was as if I couldn’t help it. I wanted him to stop bullshitting me and tell me the truth. I wanted to hear from Eddie what I’d already heard twice today. I wanted the truth and I wanted it from him. What Rory isn't considering is that Eddie hasn't lied to him. He isn't BS'ing him. He has been letting a presumably straight boy get to know the three people he is living with before having to tell the presumably straight boy that all three are homos. Luke tried to help him along by telling him to go look at the pictures in the attic. "Seriously." Luke insisted. "You should go up there and check it out. I mean, you might be interested in some of the stuff you’ll find." That was his third attempt to get Rory to go-to-the-attic. Rory is just so dense sometimes. And nothing Aaron has done has been to help Rory. It has all been to further Aaron's agenda which may be 1) to hurt Luke 2) to hook up with Rory then dump him 3) all of the above.
  6. Seriously? It didn't jump out at you in the first chapter? And why Gina thought she couldn't have a life with Eddie, her best friend? Because he is a creep. He loves to cause trouble, he wants to conquer Rory and then squish him like a bug for his own pleasure. Long before #MeToo the gay community had plenty of Aarons. No one needed to tell you that kissing someone who didn't want to e kissed, it was wrong.

    A Little Fun

Aaron is a classic player. No mixed feelings, Aaron is a douche. No amount of teen hormonal surge could make me like him if I were Rory.

    Starting Over

No, Alice feels very strongly it was Gina's place/duty to tell Rory about his father. I am sure Alice and Gina had many conversations Rory's first 14 years, and even more intense ones once Gina was diagnosed with cancer. It seems sometimes younger generations don't understand older generations. If Alice made a promise to Gina to not tell Rory about Eddie even after she passed away, or discuss her decisions she had made, Alice will keep her promise, which is honorable. A lot of the younger generation seems less concerned about such commitments if they perceive a higher good. Why would Rory be mad at Eddie? Eddie didn't do anything wrong. A diary is a good guess, or maybe letters to each. I don't really remember. I completely disagree. I think everyone has a responsibility to respect someone else's privacy and honor another's choice on whom they are out to, especially in high school.
  9. PrivateTim

    Reason

Eddie isn't being stupid, he is being sensitive. Rory's mom was his entire world and he spent two years watching her die. Eddie didn't want to taint Gina in Rory's memory. He is willing to endure Rory's teen scorn and hate to not further harm Rory's psyche. Luke wouldn't lose his place to live. Jase and Eddie love Luke and are as committed to his welfare as they are to Rory's. Obviously Eddie, Jase and Luke talked about this beforehand. Eddie asked Luke (and Jase) not to reveal to Rory that Eddie and Jase are a couple, and that Luke is gay too. As far as they know, Rory is straight and they didn't want to freak him out. If I blame anyone, it is Alice, who knows both Eddie and Rory are gay, and telling either one of them that the other was gay, might have forestalled a lot of issues. But if she had, Dom wouldn't have had a story to tell. The classic misunderstanding is a staple of literature and has been since Shakespeare. Without misunderstandings there wouldn't be Romeo & Juliet, Othello, Pride & Prejudice, any opera or the Hallmark Channel. He is talking to his partner, in the privacy of his own home about a new stepson they will share. As a professional he understands what Rory needs is to rip off the bandage now and let the healing begin, not let the wound fester and spread infection until it is too late. Meh.... the overhearing of a conversation is a classic literary device. Usually a person only hears part of a conversation and that sets off a chain of evets. Rory is lucky he heard the whole thing and he gets to process the new information.

    Lament

Rory isn't an ass, well yeah kind of, but that is what being an angsty teen in all about. The genius of Dom is capturing that angst so beautifully. Rory is being an ass and has been since he arrived in AZ. He has spent so much time wallowing in his pity party of one he hasn't given Eddie a chance to even talk to him. Once he saw that Eddie wasn't some random sperm donor, but had known his mother very well from a very early age, the questions should have been pouring out, but Rory would rather pout than try to figure this out. He also wasn't blamed or ignored. He isolated himself and never talked to Luke or Eddie or Jase to tell why he was pissed at Luke and vice versa. It helps that Aaron is still on speed dial still, because now Rory is going to have to ruminate on WHY is Aaron on speed dial at all. No he really hasn't been left to fill in the holes for himself, he's been doing the teen equivalent of a child putting his fingers in his ears and going, 'na na na I'm not listening'. Eddie has reached out constantly to Rory and Rory has rebuffed him. That is one reason so many think Rory is being an ass, which is different from hating him.

    The First Night

If he had, and that his 'cousin' is gay too, this story would be about 20 chapters shorter 😆 Eddie, Jase and Luke don't know Rory is gay. They are holding that back so as to not freak out the straight guy who doesn't want to be there to begin with. So Luke can't tell Rory that Aaron is a player and how he knows.

    Dropped

When I first read this story, probably 20 years ago now, I had no idea what I was in for. The very idea of Gay Fiction was pretty new, or at least gay fiction that was a real story and not a Nifty type story. It is nice to read someone who was starting fresh down this path, even if it was 8 years ago.
  13. Yeah yeah Tim is fine 😁 Thanks for those who had concerns. Life gets busy and priorities change. I still mourn the disappearance of Dom Luka. I have no idea how I stumbled on his stories, but they were very important to me and opened some horizons. The stories Lem (about Lem and Mattie), It Started With Brian and the stories of Cole Parker were equally important. Then I found a story, that shall go unnamed, but it sounded so like my life in so many ways that I wanted to find more from this Mark guy..... I've been a mess ever since! 😋

    Chapter 99

Poor Jeff, he was better off with a dead father I think. I think Lark/Slater is a total loser.
  15. PrivateTim

    Chapter 94

I've thought all along that Jeff is another Hayes because I don't like him. But what what kind of twisted mind would drop another paternity storyline 94 chapters into a story called Paternity? Why Mark Arbour of course.
  16. PrivateTim

    Chapter 92

Bah.... Arbour is just too cheap to hire more characters so he sometimes makes them play multiple roles. But they didn't kill him. Here is what his wife said: “There were witnesses who said they saw him pull in front of the truck. The poor truck driver is supposed to be broken up over it,” she said, then started sobbing again. When Robbie or whomever told him JJ wouldn't be back until after the holidays and not to contact him, he may have figured his time was up and he drove in front of the semi. Now MICHAEL may have an accident soon...... So what, the "D" is Hayes boys DNA stands for Douche.

    Chapter 90

It is amazing how fast time flies by. As I've said in other comments, one day you have this 12 year old who you know loves you more than anything, then you have a 14 year old who you think hates you more than anything, then two weeks later when he 18 and graduating high school you know he always loved and two months later he is 27 with his own sons and you smile, knowing what's in store for him. JJ's molestation had nothing to do with Robbie, Jeanine or Brad, but everything to do with the coach's predation and manipulation. JJ may have had more vulnerability, but that is his make-up. Paternity Is Our Past, Our Present, Our Future! "Why? Why don’t you love me anymore?” If I had been asked that same question by my son, in the midst of a similar conversation, I would have completely lost it in sobbing, wailing and gnashing of teeth and a rending of garments. But then again it never would have gotten there because Matt (my Matt) and I have always been those parents who say to our kids, "I love you" five or six times a day.
  18. PrivateTim

    Chapter 89

Brad could list for the therapist (psychologist, psychiatrist?) all of JJ's behavior changes in the last 6 months and a professional would narrow down the possible reasons pretty quickly. Then the issue becomes..... JJ's therapist would be a mandated reporter. They really need to think this through... like maybe off the coach before JJ sees his therapist? That turns the duty to report murky. Don't blame Robbie, he's just reading the lines in his script Eh poetic license.... off the bastard and screw reality. I'm not entirely on board with this concept of the USFSA as a nurturing and supportive organization. I don't know...maybe it has something to do with them ultimately having to answer to Mitt Romney. 🙂 I agree that the players here are being extreme in picturing the USFSA's stance, but I still think they'd be intensely annoyed at whomever broke this thing wide open. In no way am I saying USFSA is a nurturing and supportive organization. Their policies are to protect the organization from liability. They have to appear to be a supportive organization and act swiftly to stop damage to the organization. And oh please, I never met an LDS boy who didn't love getting his dick sucked and few who wouldn't return the favor 😋

    Chapter 86

Dang, I must not have had Spell & Grammar Check turned on 10 years ago. So now, knowing where this story goes, I get why Robbie was acting as he did. He had to be clueless for the plot to take its next big lurch. And Will's room wasn't just Will's room, it was a special birthday gift given to try and convey acknowledgement that Brad and Robbie understood Will was being neglected while other matters took precedence. Even a fucked up, 'I need to be clueless a little longer' Robbie should have recognized that. In hindsight, your comments were incredibly prescient. Well done. I get the feeling that the "results-oriented" Brad is the guy you saw here, laying it on the line with JJ. It almost feels like he's talking to an employee, delineated the required performance to achieve specific rewards. I never needed a carrot or stick to externally motivate me, I had all the internal motivation I needed for sports, school and whatever I did. Will is similar, without the sports, and JJ isn't, even if there is an outside source influencing him. In my life a "basic education" was a four year degree from a top tier university. All my family and all my parents friends were college graduates from top tier schools. As a kid, I didn't know not everyone went to college. Even as a teen, it was never 'are you going to college', but 'where' and we felt in our hearts for those who answered 'Arizona State'. I get where Brad is coming from and I am surprised that Robbie, given his Ivy League pedigree, isn't there too.

    Chapter 85

I don't see Robbie ever being that self aware. Maybe he is and I forgot. Even more so this time around. Noah seems like the kind of guy to be a real friend, a normal friend. I don't recall seeing a lot of Will's friends from middle school (Jason, Travis, Lance, etc), probably because someone didn't deem them important to the plot, but it would be nice to know Will has guy friends, his age, he doesn't/can't sleep with. Tony is a work in progress. Tony can progress this,

    Chapter 84

I have no issues with Tony having sex with Will and not wanting it known. If that upsets Will, it is Will's job to tell him. I have no problem with Tony having sex with women too. But to do it in front of Will, in Will's home, just seems douchy in the extreme. If I was Will I'd lose Tony's number. I might find it when I wanted it, but I'd deny Tony any "relief" a couple of times when he really wanted it to let him know who was in control. If Will is always there when Tony wants it, but Tony ignores Will's phone calls when Will wants him, then the whole situation is very unhealthy for Will. And no, MOST nifty authors don't do better sex scenes than you, they were like a lot of real sex, arousing's enough to get you off, but left you ultimately unsatisfied.

    Chapter 82

I've agreed with Hermetically Sealed so many times and when it felt like we were the only dissenters, but this turns out to be one of my favorite chapters. Heating from Jack, Nana and Frank was important. I only wish Isidore had said something too. Second time through I am even more impressed by this chapter and the emotional toll it must have wrought. Kudos to the author.

    Chapter 81

Robbie in NYC in September 2001? You can bet on it. Oh and if only Jeanine and JJ could be with him 😏 And stop me if I am wrong, but isn't Will Jeanine's only blood and legal relation in the CAP series?

    Chapter 80

I hope you had a great Christmas. I think Will is going to have a better opportunity for more age-appropriate experiences when he gets to Menlo and he's mixed in with older kids. H-W wouldn't provide him with hunting grounds as fertile as those should be. 😉 Will was on the Lower School campus. If he'd stayed at H-W, the Upper School campus would have been more to his liking and much more amusing. I loved the "there were Nautilus machines..." reference. Nautilus Plus was the first gym I joined because it was $99 for a year, then it merged with Family Fitness and became 24 Hour Fitness. Fun trip down Memory Lane.

    Chapter 79

I think a mature, independent Will would kick Tony to the curb, in a nice way. I hated my pathetic friends who'd respond to the midnight bootie calls and were little more than cum dumps. I kind of get the Saturday party (but not really given that they are in the same class at the same school and live in the same house theoretically). I can't help but wonder if Will really does go to Harvard eventually, if he will run into Alistair there. The only two schools I see Alistair going to are Harvard or Stanford.
