"Mr. Secretary," Griffin said, sounding more like an underling than a cop. "This is Gar." The man in his expensive suit walked over and held out his hand. “Good to finally meet you.” I ignored his hand and kept my eyes on him. I'd started to read his mind when he walked over, but he knew enough to keep his thoughts on anything but the topic at hand. That's what I get for talking too much and letting people know my secrets. He kept the hand out and I could feel Griffin's unease. Too bad. I was

I can't take credit for much of this, Anyta is so amazing to work with. I'm glad you liked both. These two will always be special to me for many reasons.
-
Okay if you can't guess what's next - and I'll admit you are VERY good at figuring things out - it doesn't or can't make sense? . C'mon Mike, stay with me. Just two chapters left. This has never been predictable has it?

I could tell you dave but that would ruin things. :-). Trust me that I know where this is going. :-).

"You did all this to get me here?" I never thought I'd be so angry at Griffin that I wanted to hit him. "Do you know the innocent lives you put at risk?" I sensed the changes in his body, enough that I knew he understood the implications of what I’d said. "Yes Daniel, you would be the guilty if that had happened." "It wasn’t just to get you here. They needed proof." Yes, they. "When?" Griffin shifted his weight, looking over my shoulder into Barrington’s house. "Can we have this discussion

No sense?? C'mon. you mean a spirit that forces you to kill people makes more sense?? And okay fine, you can get your licks in now, but wait til it's over before you decide to really smack me around
-
This was the outcome I'd always seen coming. So I'm surprised people didn't see this coming. I guess I really am as twisted as some people say lol. all I'll say is that Griffin hasn't gone bad on us - promise.

Gar had his 'purpose' and one wonders if he didn't exist if Will would be able to do what he can now. I wonder how much fun it would be to write a whole story from Gar's perspective - so before he meets Ryan? Hmmm. Thanks for reading.
-
The waiting nearly killed me. Gar had the patience to wait as long as needed. Will, however, had ADHD–or that would have been the diagnosis if I had still been a kid. I finishing typing my text and sent it to Ryan. Not bad for a sixty eight year old man. I missed Ryan–a lot. Another thing Gar wouldn't feel. I needed to stop comparing myself to Gar as if he wasn't really me. He'd been necessary at the time, but wishing I'd kept parts of him led me toward a place I didn't want to go–detachment.

I think of all the characters I've written about Will/Gar is the most like me -at least the snarky sarcastic bit. I think all the things I get Will to do are things I wish I could do too Thanks for reading and I hope you like the ending. Andy

Ryan's anger would be beyond words if he knew my plan. He'd probably tell me I had no plan, that my intent was little more than winging it. He'd be justified too. Barrington couldn't be trusted to keep his word. Yes, I'd read his mind thoroughly, but that only let me see his current and past thoughts. Any new decisions would be as unknown to me as to anyone else. It had taken a bit of convincing to get him to set my plan in motion. He didn't trust me to keep my word. No that wasn't quite right,

Chapter 28: The Price You Pay
Andrew Q Gordon commented on Andrew Q Gordon's story chapter in Chapter 28: The Price You Pay
Since my mum will never read this I can say that Saint Barbara was modeled loosely after her. (Not the money cause she/we never really had much) but she was the uber catholic one who always thrilled when Father came to visit from the church etc. she was not great with it when I came out - not as bad as Barbara but not good. Then my cousin who was 6 weeks younger than me died and she had to watch her brother bury his son. Then she changed. At first you could see it was a struggle but over time it got much better. So Barbara's epiphany was based very much on my Mom's. In some ways it was a very real scene for me since I'd somewhat lived it. But I'm glad to see others found it powerful because that is kinda how it felt writing it. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Always appreciated. -AQG -
Nothing. It didn’t totally surprise me, but I had hoped for more. “Have you come for vengeance?” He made my skin itch. I supposed he perfected the skill over a lifetime of using people. Still. It made me almost long for Gar’s detachment so I could smack him hard enough to permanently wipe the smirk off his face. But I could at least pretend. “No. Had I come for that I'd have broken a few bones and made you suffer before I revealed myself to you.” His bravado waned as his pulse rate spiked. F

Think Barrington will offer Gar some coffee and cake? We will indeed see what Barringotn knows soon enough

It had been almost a year since I'd been on a real mission. Even though no one had died and I had no one to avenge, this felt like I was chasing a killer. On the scale of criminals, kidnappers ranked barely below sex offenders and killers. The small frame house blended in with its neighbors. What was it they said about hiding in plain view? Just one among the many working class homes in a non-descript neighborhood. I imagined they held Detective Griffin in a similar place. Hopefully I'd know m

There is a fine line between virtue and evil - I try to walk it, but sometimes I slip. And yes, you WILL need to wait til chapter 9 to find your answers, though you tend to have very very good 'guesses' I some time thing you've hacked my computer. Now if I find picture on the internet of me in compromising positions, I'll know for sure.

Cole, When I started this mini sequel, one of the things I wanted most was to flesh out some of Gar/Will and step back from the romance. That's what this is so yep, we're gonna see a bit more of what Gar can do before this is over.

Really Dave? I have to keep people guessing. I promise you - all will be explained, in due time

Only the chief could see me as her subordinates entered the room. Odds were, one of them had let whomever bugged the chief's office into the room. The rest, however, would be useful in finding who had Detective Griffin. I didn't listen as the chief started talking in vague terms about security and the need to be sure that information is kept confidential. Instead, I focused on the sound of the ten heartbeats in the room. When she started speaking about a potential leak of information that could

Exactly, right now, Will has no clue where Griffin is, so wouldn't do much good including him in the list
-
We could very well be, but I'll never tell I'll give you a hint....no actually I won't, but just don't smack me around chapter 9.

I told her mind she needed to shut the door once she entered her office. The office had enough ears already. Seated in her chair looking out the window as the sunset over DC, I made myself visible. "The angle of your window captures the beauty of the sunset perfectly." As expected, Chief Rawlings reached for her gun and drew it. I spun the chair around and rolled my eyes. "Is that any way to greet me, Chief?" "What are you doing here?" She didn't lower the gun, but neither did she call for he

Probably just talking to myself here, but figured it's a good idea to try to keep this forum stuff going. I'm trying to do audio chapters of this story,so Chapter 1 is on my blog - yes I'm doing the narration and while I know I need a fair bit of work as a narrator, it does let you hear my voice. I interview a lot of MM Authors on my website. I'm going to try to post those interviews here in case readers on GA would like to learn about new authors that write MM fiction. Today Jamie Lynn Miller stops by to talk a bit fan fiction, why she writes eBooks and, oh yeah, her her new book, Memory's Prisoner. Thank you so much for hosting me here today, Andrew, I really appreciate it. Today I'd like to talk about why I got into writing ebooks, back in 2008. Unlike some opinions I've read over the years, I embrace my fan fiction roots. I started back in 1995, writing X-Files fiction and it just spiraled on from there. In fact I'm still writing fan fiction today and loving every minute of it. There's always been this general impression in the "professional world" that all fan fiction is garbage, written by 15 year old girls. Well sorry, hate to tell you, but I've known fan fiction writers who would put professional authors (and TV show writers) to shame. And there's been plenty of professional paperback novels I've read that belong in the trash can. I'd finally gotten so fed up with fan fiction writers being looked down upon that I set out to prove (to myself at least) that my writing was good enough to get published, despite my "roots". And look at that, it was! Five times so far! After my fourth book with the same publisher I challenged myself again - to submit to another publisher. Would I be good enough for someone else? And look at that, Dreamspinner accepted me on my first try! My next challenge is self-publication and I'm already well on my way. I should have that book out in the next month or so. Bottom line - everyone's got to start somewhere. And for me (and many of you) it was the fan fiction world. Everyone needs to hone their craft and there is no harsher critic than fandom. I took my bumps and bruises along the way and it made me a better writer, to what I am today. In fact, if it hadn't been for fan fiction I never would have discovered my love of hurt/comfort, which is now the main theme in all of my ebooks. And Memory's Prisoner here is no exception. This time the hurt is both physical and emotional with Mitch and Joey needing to lean on each other to get through their injuries that have changed their lives, providing the comfort they both desperately need. Thanks again, Andrew, for having me here today! I hope to hear from all of you who are also proud of your fan fiction roots! Read on for an excerpt from Memory's Prisoner... Blurb: Detectives Mitchell Reid and Joseph Valentino of the Chicago Police Department have finally moved from friends to lovers, partners on the job and off. Then an escaped bank robber with a thirst for vengeance shatters their world. The police tactical raid to recapture the convict goes horribly wrong, leaving Mitch severely wounded and Joey with a devastating head injury. They both survive, but Joey’s long-term coma and memory loss will change their lives – and love – forever. ~~~~~~ Excerpt: Mitch crouched at the corner of one crate, preparing to slip to the next closest one. The flash from a rifle’s muzzle inside the warehouse caught Mitch’s eye as it illuminated the gunman. Doyle. Their eyes locked and an evil, maniacal grin crossed the psychopath’s face. Mitch’s cover had been blown. A split second later he heard the ominous click of the triggering mechanism inside the crate he was leaning against and Mitch knew he had seconds to live. Launching himself up and away from the crate, heedless of the gunfire surrounding him, Mitch desperately tried to put as much distance between himself and the bomb as he could. Four frantic strides were all he could manage. The force of the explosion threw him off his feet and hurled him forward, wave after wave of intense heat and debris at his back, before he slammed down onto the dock. Excruciating pain like he’d never known raced through his battered body as he rolled across the wooden surface before coming to rest on his back. Dazed and winded, fighting unconsciousness, Mitch heard Tim frantically calling his name. His head lolled to the side as he tried to answer but his gaze caught sight of the torn, bloody mass of flesh that was his left leg. “NO! MITCH!” Joey’s cry of utter terror drew Mitch’s attention from his mangled body. He looked up to see his partner racing toward him, surrounded by Team Three, weapons blazing. Uncaring of the extreme danger he was in, Joey charged forward in a desperate rescue attempt, his fear for Mitch written all over his face. Horrified, Mitch tried to call out, managing only a hoarse whisper. “No… get back….” Two feet from Mitch it happened. Another crate exploded, sending huge pieces of debris through the air. Unable to slow down or change course, Joey plowed directly through the explosion, his head suddenly snapping violently to the side as a large piece of wood impacted it. “JOEY!” The scream was torn from Mitch’s throat as he watched his partner’s expression change from one of terrified concern to one of total confusion as the wood hit its mark and his body crumpled like a rag doll. The nightmare had begun. ~~~~~~ About The Author: Jamie Lynn Miller has been writing fiction since childhood and decided to take the plunge and go pro in 2008, finding to her amazement that people truly enjoyed her love stories. She’s a romantic at heart, and her tales reflect the desire we all have to find “the one,” persevering through trials and heartache for that happy ending. Jamie has a degree in fine arts and has spent the last twenty years working as a graphic designer, though she’d much rather be writing. She was born in Chicago and still lives there today with her husband and their two furry, four-footed children, er… cats. If she’s not brainstorming story ideas, you can find Jamie at a sci-fi convention, in front of a furnace doing glass blowing, or on a mat twisted into a yoga pose.
