    Chapter 24

Not too well! I didn't remember about the disc... Gotta reread the chapter.

    Chapter 24

And not just the knowledge. As yet, Jamie has not found a way to 'anchor' his knack! I think that was also part of what Flitch meant.

    Chapter 23

Seriously funny and ironic. Kettle? Meet pot!!!

    Chapter 23

I need to take the time and ponder the new addition(s) to Jamie's shield(s).

    Chapter 22

Partially correct. All transparent materials will reflect some light at some frequencies. It is the material on the backing of the transparent object that determines what is reflected and what is absorbed. For other types of reflectors (non-transparent metals, mostly), it is the chemical composition that determines what frequencies are reflected and what is absorbed. Outside of using material substances, using electromagnetism or gravity to reflect and/or bend photons is much more efficient.

    Chapter 22

I wonder... If I understand the near invisibility of Irik's people, why not fortify that ability so that all light passes around the protected body? It becomes a lensing effect, exactly how light passes around a black hole. Done properly, it should apply to electrons as well as photons.

    Chapter 22

I hope Jamie remembers this part. Mirrors that reflect visible light will not work against infrared (heat), X-Ray, or Gamma-Ray emissions. It is a given that the ancients were adept at producing Lasers at all frequencies.

    Chapter 21

Ok, you caught me! Superposition. At least @Geron Kees understood! Not to worry! I know just enough quantum mechanics to put me to sleep... Despite the caffeine!

    Chapter 21

@Geron Kees, I don't know if you have intentionally done this, but you are really good at explaining the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, as well as Superimposition.

    Chapter 21

I suspect he is near to pulling his hair out! Dorf learns faster because it is his nature. He is a warrior and a tactician. In that respect, when it is a battle situation, Dorf outshines the others. Of course, Porvus has withheld all of his knowledge! Can't let the minions know everything he does. That is the benefit of a true team over independents. Ah! Coming around to seeing what I already speculated?

    Chapter 20

Yum! Chicago Deep Dish!!! Although I suspect it is called by another name. From the way Artagon spoke, I have a strong suspicion that these other people are a created people. Created by the ancients for whatever reasons. But they have evolved beyond their original purpose... Likely by necessity, considering the Forest.

    Chapter 19 S1

The various Native American tribes all had a tumultuous history. The white man, coming on the scene, didn't help that any. If anything, the French and the British played one tribe against the other. Then we had people like President Jackson, to whom the only good Indian was a dead Indian. Nice history lesson, Bill.

    Chapter 19

It's possible, as far as it goes. Assuming quantum AI, the repairs are taken care of. This leads into... There is a source of power, sorta below Fusion (below, as in scaler). This power is everywhere. Our current science (quantum mathematics) says it's there but cannot be used. Currently.

    Chapter 19

This was the very reason I speculated that the evil/dark mages were in some sort of a CNC. Extrapolating from Snave's speculations, the evolved humans, the mages, can manipulate the ancient's power sources without using the ancient's machines. This is what would make the mages very dangerous to "normal" humans. It also suggests the type of power that the ancients used. It would not be fusion, considering the length of time that has passed and the functionality has not ceased or diminished.

    Chapter 17

At the Asimov Foundation, sir. My instructors included Prof. Clark, Heinlein, and Norton, just to name a few.

    Chapter 17

There are several things we have discovered in this chapter. Lodda and Porvus, by inference Urvan, have learned the written language of the ancients. At least enough to know what some of the various sensors report in the Comm Rooms of the towers. That they know this, suggests that there are technical manuals laying about. Because Porvus could see that someone entered the Comm Room of the tower that Jamie & Company are in, suggests that the place Porvus is in is a central Comm Room. Be it another tower or something else. The nature of the almost instant electrical storm, suggests that the ancients had an extremely fine, precise, and absolute weather control technology. This also suggests that the place that Porvus was in was more of a Command & Control Center than a mere comm room. Lastly, Jamie discovers, even if he does not want to admit it, that the magic wagons do indeed float in the transport tubes, maglev transports.

    Chapter 15

pungilist - Wow! Another word to add to my vocabulary! (who says you can't teach an old dog?)

    Chapter 12

That's always been a real question of serious science fiction. Could we recognize other intelligent carbon-based life? If not, how would we recognize life forms based on something other than carbon?
  19. Al Norris

    Chapter 11

I have it! Take the head of a triceratops but modify the mouth with that of a raptor. Now add the body of an ankylosaur and the tail of a stegosaurus! Facing away from you... It looks just like a large boulder. Yup. Tesla was who I was thinking. Especially that look Jamie had into quantum mechanics! Electrum! Frequentness!! Gotta love it.

    Chapter 9

There is something that Jamie is forgetting... In all of this, Jamie has forgotten he does indeed have the help available to him. He's just forgetting to use that help. I suppose it hasn't become second nature, yet.

    Chapter 8

I am seeing Jamie in much the same manner as Kandric... Only a faster growth!
  22. Al Norris

    Chapter 8

Ya mean I can't use the Kandric Universe?

    Chapter 18 S1

I can see how Mac can put up with the things Devon does... It appears that he grew up with parents that do the same sort of thing! It would drive me up the wall, however.
  24. Al Norris

    Chapter 17 S1

Perhaps. That was an on-campus project and involved the university. What I was thinking was something off-campus and not a university project. Regardless, we will see what we see!

    Chapter 17 S1

OK, the rapist capture was pretty straightforward. But I could see where several things that could have gone wrong. I'll leave it there and just say... Good chapter, Bill! As for the summer... I don't have a clue as to what you plan on having Mac do, Bill. Yet, I could see Mac and Devin working on some kind of community service project. Universities are kinda big on that. Especially if it has nothing to do with their majors. Shows that they are willing to do stuff outside of their chosen professions.
