I do this as well when I'm stuck for a name.... or I will go to a baby site and put in some strange (to me) nationality to get a wider range of possible names

the easiest way I found to write the story blurb was to write the story out in 100 words or less. Stop at or just before the climax, and ask a question. This lets you get right to the heart of the story.

that one is a favorite of mine... no sex, mild profanity, big ax to grind it's not going to top 40F here today... the first week of Feb was in the 80s though

How do you relate to a character enough to write about them?

Write in a POV that is not theirs. They can be a main character, their actions can influence everything around them, they can even drive the plot... But you don't have to get in their head space and ruin the writing if you just can't. -
Sounds like the run in we had over "Child Porn" with the Department of Homeland Security, Missing and Exploited Children. The picture was of my grand-daughter in the tub, nothing visible. My son sent it to me because she had a bubble beard to look like daddy. The Agent saw the image, looked at every picture on all my devices and my sons devices then said there is nothing wrong with tub pictures of YOUR family. The person who reported did get in trouble because they made the calls, (several actually), in an attempt to influence a court decision. Sure you do.... Prove it. Considering the nature of my current fiction... dare I ask?

seriously? I did one with kidnapping and rape in first person.... (this one gets me emails asking if I'm all right from the experience... well I didn't sleep for three days while I wrote it, but, yes, thank you, I'm fine) another of suicide... again first person um... cutting... among other things... underage consensual sex with a minor and an adult (vital to the plot)...

Oh no... I've been posting on here for oh... 10 years? probably more... trust me... the early stuff was a lot more... liberal and the rules were a lot more flexible. I rarely get told I can't post something... but most people aren't allowed to post similar topics any longer
