Try it again, it just worked for me, not sure why.
-
Yo! You know Italians only like Disco and Opera!
-
Not for nothing but the masses think Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are country singers. ;-) Again, just my opinion, and what do I know, I'm Italian.
-
Wow, out of all the exceptions you could have chosen you picked one of the biggest frauds in all of Country Music history. That's just my opinion, that said you are entitled to yours.
-
Sorry for the screw up. And while you point may be valid, you can't deny his genius. http://youtu.be/pJ1h_M5v8t4

"Why thank you. There's plenty of things Granger will have to deal with before Trafalgar. Maybe I'll let him live through Trafalgar, but then give him a groin wound so his dick doesn't work. No...he'd just turn into a total bottom then. ;-)" Well hell he's damn near that now! I think you should turn him into a writer ;-)

Let this be a lesson to all the young readers here at GA; DO NOT POST DURING COCKTAIL HOUR! And yes Mark before you read me, I'm aware of the time. But it's Sunday and cocktail hour begins at three Anyway, I meant to type: "and retelling them in a compelling way is an equally difficult feat that you have accomplished." I'm just always so anxious to heap praise on you that I sometimes forget to proof read. Again, great job.

Not sure how you mean that. No worries though, when you're older than Zip Codes 21 years doesn't sound like such a long time!

Wonderful depiction of the battle. Leaves one even more in awe of the officers and men who fought them. The dedication to detail, along with the skill and bravery required to fight these historic battles is amazing; and retelling them in a compelling way is an equally difficult fete that you have accomplished. Now one is left wondering how the ingenious Mr. Arbour will manage the next 87 or so months of Grangers life. And of course how will he manage to "drop" him in to the middle of the Battle of Trafalgar! Hopefully the story will not end there.

Seeking anedotes about gay soldiers who've been discharged for sex
Pete Bruno replied to crazyfish's topic in The Lounge
If you have the time to sift through the many results, just Google it (if you haven’t already here is one link with some interesting answers http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080202182627AAlc69V), you will be surprised at what you find, however I do know there are different types of discharge. It could dishonorable or less than honorable, not sure which they would use. But either one causes you to lose benefits and effects your resume. Another thing, if he was an enlisted man and involved with an officer, the officer would more than likely be busted down for fraternization. One true anecdote I can share came from my sister (a lesbian) who served in the Army for 24 years. She retired a Command Sargent Major which is the highest rank an enlisted person can achieve. Her MOS was Army Intelligence (talk about an oxymoron!) and they were tasked with among other things investigating soldiers for various reasons by doing forensic tests on their computers. Her boss knew she was gay, he and his wife attended parties at her house (she shared with her lover) and it was never a problem. She always told me that the brass used the DADT on people who were total fuck-ups and it was the only way to get rid of them. I have no evidence of this, it is just anecdotal, but it came from her. -
If we are limiting to stories published on sites such as GA I stop reading when the first line is: "Let me introduce myself" The other is when the POV changes within the same chapter, it becomes redundant and confusing. It is one thing to have a chapters narrated by different characters, but I just cannot read a story where after three paragraphs the narrator changes and then begins to repeat parts of the story I just read. It is as confusing as this post! When it comes to published novels, it's when I no longer have a desire to turn the page.

While I'll admit that Nifty may not be as discriminating when it comes to posting stories as this site and others, I find it a little heavy-handed to call it disgusting. Considering that it has been archiving (for free) gay fiction for 21 years I think we should cut them some slack. There are many authors that post there as well as here and CRVboy and Tickie Stories (I among them) who are just trying to get the most exposure they can for their stories. The good news is, after the first paragraph you can always move on and continue to look for something worth reading; you just may be surprised. As for posting on GA, there is clearly a place for Lesbian writing; when posting a story there is a tag under Relationship titled Lesbian. I'm sure if your mate were to write a story it would welcomed here. .

Perhaps Isidore should teach her granddaughter the French term Noblesse Oblige, (I know, I'm shameless) however I fear it's too late for her. Thanks for a great read to start the morning.

No need to post any more replies, we have a winner. I laughed so hard I cried! But in a manly way ;-)

Considering what they are peddling as Country Music today, then Wow! If Taylor Swift if considered country, I would say this guy is Conway Twitty! I thought it was fantastic.

From the article: What is the role of the humble dictionary in an era when word usage changes by the hour? I posted this in the Writers Corner, but it is a great article for readers as well. It is well worth the read. http://www.american.com/archive/2013/august/the-words-they-are-a-changing

Great article, a little off point but I think it fits well. http://www.american.com/archive/2013/august/the-words-they-are-a-changing

You will be pleased to know that while yes, I am drinking something, this time it is coffee ;-) Great action and I feel much better about Berry now that you have given us the sibling rivalry scenario. Hope we won’t have to wait too long for the next chapter; but no worries, I will just go back and re-read this first so that the action is continuous, which is how I prefer to read your stories anyway. Thanks for a great start to the day.

I find this interesting because it is an argument I often have with my collaborator. The short answer is yes. All one needs to do is go find a book by Taylor Caldwell; she could fill up three pages describing the moss on the north side of a tree. My feeling is there no reason to paint a mural when painting a picture will suffice.
-
What a pleasure to find this new chapter while settling in with my after dinner scotch! Well done as always, but my Spidey sense tells me there's more to the Berry chap than just jealousy. Could he be an ally of certain family that has it in for Granger? We shall just have to wait and see.
-
I agree, it is important in a document as it is in an advertisement. Selling newsprint advertising we were always taught that the more white space in the ad, the more eyes it drew.
-
I had read the same thing, however this article basically dispels that theory. http://theworldsgrea...after-a-period/
-
Well done Mark. It surely made cocktail hour more enjoyable!

As the clever cartoon illustrates leaving off the Oxford coma leaves room for ambiguity.
