Hi Folks...
I'm very late to this story having only just finished reading '25 tonight, after several days of intense reading.
Firstly LB Your writing style is amazing, more power to your pen (keyboard just doesn't sound right).
I've had a quick glance through the posts on this thread, and seen some interesting theories regarding Connor, Maggie and Ryan. Plaudits to everyone on the indepth analysis.
For my own perspective on where the story has reached...
Connor recognises that Maggie isn't around to parent her kids in much the same way as his mother was never around. And when she is, it seems she's cranky from working too hard - Conner associates this with his mother being drunk. He might even see Maggie's work as an addiction.
I can't remember which chapter but Maggie by her own description called her son's spoiled brats. It occurs to me that this is as a result of her buying the affection that she was never at home to provide... examples of this come from the list of birthday presents Ryan received for his 16th. Later for Connors own Birthday it could be argued that she employed the same tactic with him and his long list of presents. I think Connor has realised this hence calling Maggie on being a good parent, with the clue to his realisation being that he no longer wants the welfare cheques/checks as he sees this as a further attempt to buy his affections off.
His demand for independance is more a demand for real affection and not being bought off.
In relation to both Ryan and Maggie, I can't help but feel that therer is a revelation to come in the final chapter concerning the husband/Dad which will go a long way to explaining not just Ryan's withdrawl but also Maggie's work ethic especially when Toby is ill. Not sure what it is yet, but I've a feeling it'll be something simple yet vital that completes the picture and is the main thread that leads story to it's conclusion.
Which of the 6 gay characters end up coupled, I believe that Toby and Cody will be the only remaining couple. Ben while Gay will never find happiness with Connor as there is no love in the relationship. Ryan and Connor after the final revelations will become better friends than they ever were before - but no sexual relationship. And finally Dominic...he's the wild card, we really know so little about him I can't even begin to predict.
Excuse the very long post, but I had a lot of catching up to do.
