I’m bummed this story won’t continue. It’s a great concept off to a promising start.

Calvin has it bad for Mason! He was waiting for him to arrive. Hope Mason realizes that. -
[Memory, Senior Year, October] – Like Brothers
Geemeedee commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in [Memory, Senior Year, October] – Like Brothers
The site won’t let me edit my comment and I just saw this: “They were back home for the weekend …” Duh. Also, maybe Alexander isn’t sick but engaged in a battle of wills about his place (or lack thereof) in the family business? Speculation, thy name is Geemee.- 21 comments

[Memory, Senior Year, October] – Like Brothers
Geemeedee commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in [Memory, Senior Year, October] – Like Brothers
Just so I’m clear — Brad lives in the same town as the school while Lyn and Alexander don’t, so they’d lived in student housing? I’m not surprised Alexander ghosted Lyn. What I *am* surprised about is that Brad and Alexander’s relationship seems unchanged. I think Brad is lying about not knowing what caused Alexander’s absence, tho. Maybe Alexander is sick and receiving treatment, because I don’t think Lyn moving in with Brad would keep him away. I have a suspicion about what imploded the heroic trio, but if I’m right, Alexander would not have remained friends with Brad if he knew. So I’ll just shrug and wait for the next chapters.- 21 comments

$150,000 says wealthy client to me, but $15,000 seems to mean something. $1k for every year he used Blanche’s services, perhaps? $15k says wealthy asshole client who liked Blanche and decided to throw “a little something” at her kid. Lyn was right to be offended, but not for the reason you think. Wealthy Asshole Client could’ve paid for the rest of Lyn’s education, including law school. He could’ve bought Lyn an apartment and wouldn’t miss the money. $15k is peanuts.

Lyn might as well tell Bella. His relationship with Brad is ruined, anyway. It’s very frustrating that Brad and Alexander don’t just say whatever it is they’re refusing to say.

“And since Dailan and I are not officially anything until he’s ready …” I was surprised by that statement because CREEK has been the one not ready for anything official. Dailan’s been sure from the beginning. Dailan’s conversation with his dad is something I wish I’d done earlier with my own absentee father (absent every way — he never sent money). Honestly, getting all the bullshit out in the open at 21 is the way to go.

Big fan of Arya. Hope she shows up again. I feel sad for Lyn because he appears to have no other relatives that care about him. Explains even more that distance he keeps between himself and others. “Best friends are for life. Don’t forget that, okay, Lyn?” Here’s the question I keep returning to: Is Brad really Lyn’s friend? What is his definition of “friend” vs. Lyn’s definition vs. Alexander’s definition vs. our own definitions?

Poor Dailan — he gets injured every other chapter! Creek has to almost lose him in order to inch forward in their relationship While I’m here, is it pronounced DayLAHN or DIElan or DIE-LAHN or DAYlahn? Didn’t have Kate being gay on my bingo card.

I just keep thinking how I would handle it: scorched earth. I’m telling Brad what I saw. If he won’t tell Bella, I will. If she doesn’t believe me, well she’s Boo Boo the Fool when Luke throws it in her face who knows how many years later. At this point I’m wondering: why is Alexander still in Brad’s life? It’s obvious he is. Maybe it’s because they run in the same social circle? I get why Alexander would keep the secret, but damn, that’s cold-blooded. Bella should fully know what she’s getting into. (And if Luke doesn’t hate her, what *does* he feel?) This is some soap opera shit right here. I wholeheartedly approve.

I went through something like this. Nailed it.
-
Three things. 1) I think the way these two are progressing physically is natural and sweet. But you mixed up sections of the time at Dailan’s. They were on the couch, then they were in Dailan’s bed, then they were back on the couch, then back in the bed. 2) I love Cteek’s dad. Woody was spot-on. 3) I wish they’d kiss with tongues, lol.
-
I went back to the first chapter to be sure of who Woody was and I was reminded of Creek’s mom telling him that it wasn’t right for him to be in bed “naked” with his son. I’m worried there’s gonna be a custody battle for the soul of little Forest. Interesting story with compelling characters.

The restaurant community is small. Arthur could make sure no one in the area will hire Marvin with a few well placed lies. And if Marvin sues, he’ll never work in an area kitchen again. Fucked up, but true. He should just find another job and quit. Arthur is an ignorant menace.

[Memory, Junior Year, November] – Strategic Mistakes
Geemeedee commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in [Memory, Junior Year, November] – Strategic Mistakes
Aw man, I continue to get Lyn wrong! I look forward to when the story is done and I can look back on where I went off-track and think about why. Joe and Quinn are fascinating! Big, intimidating jocks who crush like obnoxious middle schoolers, yet are perceptive and kind. Lyn was in good hands. -
I had to make sure the story wasn’t marked complete, because this felt like an ending. I hope it’s just an end to Creek’s resistance and they start of the story’s next phase. 🤞

Two things: 1. I always suspected Lyn was a little neuro-spicy. This settles it for me, and boy, wouldn’t it explain a lot? 2. I want a side story about Quinn and Joe because WHAT?! -
Aaand Dailan makes his move! Plus, we’ll get the tea on the dude from his past. So excited! #TeamDailan

The Right Kind of Pain
Geemeedee commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in The Right Kind of Pain
I know the author doesn’t like to explain their characters, but from what I can tell, many of us have the wrong take on Lyn. Pretty sure what I think isn’t what’s intended as well. I hope Lyn, when he finally talks to Alexander, explains his thought process and actions. I’m a fan of Alexander and his responses.- 38 comments

What Do You Call a Big Reveal?
Geemeedee commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in What Do You Call a Big Reveal?
For me, the alternating now-then-now-then nature of the characters has Lyn’s emotions from 8 years ago blending with his emotions now. It can take decades to get past a crush, especially without therapy. In my mind, the jealously mixed in with everything else he was feeling, kind of as a knee-jerk reaction. We know Lyn used to be jealous of people who had physical intimacy with Brad. -

What Do You Call a Big Reveal?
Geemeedee commented on Laura S. Fox's story chapter in What Do You Call a Big Reveal?
I think it’s so cool that we all read the same thing and come away with different impressions. Brad is an asshole with low self-esteem (probably has daddy issues) who enjoyed — needed? — Lyn’s obvious adoration. He used Lyn in every way but sexually (that we know of, other than that kiss) by having him do his assignments, write his papers, make him feel like the ultimate stud. I think Lyn’s response to what he saw is multifaceted: anger, jealousy, disgust, regret, self-immolating, revenge seeking. Luke’s reason for inviting Lyn is also layered: I have Brad and you don’t. He lets me give him what he wouldn’t let you. But also: You’re so tight with Bella now, tell her what you saw and hurt her and ruin this magazine-worthy wedding. Because Luke hates/is jealous of his sister. He may be using Brad, he may think he wants Brad, hell, he probably doesn’t even know. I find Luke to be a pathetic human. Alexander *would* see Lyn’s sudden desire to bottom as revenge, and *would* hate Lyn, Brad and himself if they had anal sex. But Alexander is so in tune with Lyn that I think he’ll ask “are you thinking about Brad?” before they go too far and Lyn won’t be able to lie. Or Lyn will be his usual dumb self and go through with it and fuck up what he’s building with Alexander. I would expect Alexander to leave early and never want to see him again.- 47 comments
