The Chosen By Andrew Todd Chapter 1 “Benjamin Abercrombie?” “Benji’s fine, ma’am,” Benji replied raising his hand as Mrs. Kramer, their new homeroom teacher, started taking attendance. “Benji, then.” She smiled at him and continued. Benji closed his eyes and tried to block out the all the chatter he was getting from his classmates. His telepathy had become so much stronger over the summer and his dads had spent a lot of time working with him on blocking out the unwanted ‘noise’ that co

Damon's grandfather had always told him the Abercrombie powers could only be passed on by blood. He was wrong. For the past nine years, Damon and Kai have watched over and trained their adopted sons Benji and Alex to use the powers they mysteriously inherited. Now, as the boys have turned sixteen, they learn about the mysterious 'Prophecy of the Chosen' and they learn they are not the only family to be blessed with powers.

The 2013 Gay Authors Readers' Choice Ballot and Voting
Andrew Todd replied to TalonRider's topic in The Lounge
Congratulations to all the nominees and many thanks to all those who participated in the nomination process. Thank you so much for the recognition. -
Thanks. It was originally written to be my first entry into the Anthology series, but the more I wrote and it 'morphed' the less I thought it fit.

It is a 'one and done' unfortunately the 'system' requires a chapter title so you always end up with it being a 'chapter one' or repeating the story title.

Empath’s Kiss By Andrew Todd Damon stood at the nurse’s station sorting the magazines and books on his trolley. He had just finished making his final rounds for the night and was straightening things up so he could head for home. He rolled the trolley into the storage closet and locked the door. He pulled his jacket on and ran a hand through his thick black hair. That was the only physical trait he had inherited from his father. His pale skin, thin swimmer’s build and deep blue eyes were

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Epilogue Dusty walked towards the sweat lodge, his emotions running the gamut between grief, anger, sadness, rage, despair and everything in between. When he and Zak had arrived, they had learned that Gram had been less than honest about her condition. She had led Dusty to believe that her doctor would not permit her to fly simply because of her high blood pressure. The truth was she was very sick and her body was simply shutting down. Her doctor told Dusty

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 22 Diego was just finishing grooming Domingo when his phone rang. “Hello?” “Hey, Diego. It’s Steph, can I talk to Luka? He must have left his phone in the car.” “Luka is not here, Stephanie.” “You’re kidding. He left here an hour and a half ago. He was going to stop at the tack shop and then head out to the ranch; he should have been there by now.” “Maybe he had car trouble,” Diego suggested, trying to keep Steph from worrying. “You know that he alw

Actually, Chapter 22...which will post tomorrow is the final chapter of 'Second Chances'. On Friday, I will post the 'Epilogue' for 'Second Chances' (actually for 'Riding Lessons')...it won't wrap everything with a bow, but it will give a ending (of sorts). It's always possible I might come back to the characters. I have one story planned in my head...which will be rather obvious at the end of 22...but in it's current state the story will be finished.

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 21 “Where are they?” Mattie said as he rushed into Jesse’s room Monday morning. Jesse and Dylan were lying on the bed. Jesse nodded towards the corner where a tired Kaya was laying with her pups. Mattie sat on the corner of the bed. “How many?” “Eight,” Jesse answered. “Eight…so, Brandon wants one, not sure about Erik…what are we doing with the rest?” “Well, we promised one to my brother Cole,” Jesse said. “By the time they’re ready to go back to

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 20 “You’re giving us Tony?” Jesse asked incredulously. Trevor laughed. “In a matter of speaking; when we were driving back from Orlando this morning I called Second Chances and spoke with Danny and CJ. I wanted to make sure they were ok with you boys coming back with two new horses.” “What did they say?” Dylan asked with a grin. “They said it wouldn’t be a trip to Florida if Jesse didn’t come back with a horse.” Dylan laughed as Jesse blushed. “A

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 19 “Dylan’s a match?!” “I’m a match?!” Jesse and Dylan spoke at the same time. Trevor nodded. “It’s unusual, but not unheard of,” he explained. “Most of the time a close relative is the best shot for a match, but you can find a match another way, that’s why there is a registry for this.” “Wow,” Dylan sighed as he collapsed onto the couch. Jesse sat down next to him. Trevor sat on the coffee table facing Dylan and Jesse, while Julia stood behind

Loved this story. Being a horse person, I can completely understand the relationships he builds with the horses through the years and with Flasche in particular...it's interesting to me that everyone seems to think that there is something 'wrong' with the protagonist because he doesn't relate well to people...not every needs a romantic partner in their life, some people find companionship more important than sex and romance...I love a story that looks at life in a more unusual way...great read...

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 18 CJ, Mattie, Dusty, Spin, Zak and Chris sat around a conference table in the bunkhouse. Ace and Sarge stood at the head of the table. “Alright, guys,” Sarge started. “Ace has laid out to me your plans for this Carter kid who we believe is the one who attacked Spin. I’ve agreed, with CJ’s ok, to help you guys. I’ve made a few tweaks to your plans, mainly for Chris’ safety. First, no one outside of this room is to be in on this; well, except for one

Since Dylan is a minor and he is traveling out of state it would be common for the adult he is traveling with to have a medical POA in case of emergency.

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 17 “Ok, I gotta try that,” Dylan said as he watched Jesse riding Macho around the indoor arena. After Jesse had introduced Dylan to the little Paso Fino, they had groomed and tacked him and Jesse had been showing Dylan what the gelding could do. Jesse rode over to where Dylan was waiting and slipped off Macho’s back and handed the reins to Dylan. Dylan popped up on the little horse and listened carefully to Jesse’s instructions. With Jesse’s coach

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 16 Diego balanced the tray with one hand while he opened his bedroom door. He noticed that the bedside light was on and the bed was empty. He set the tray down on his dresser and went over to the bathroom door. He tapped on the door. “Luka?” “Just a minute.” “I just wanted to be sure you were alright.” Diego heard the toilet flush and the water running in the sink. After the water stopped the door opened and Luka emerged. “Yeah, I’m ok,” Luka sai

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 15 Stephanie and Ace were coming out of the barn when they heard Diego’s shout. “LUKA!!” Stephanie started to move towards where the shout came from, but Ace grabbed her arm. “Ace, let me go,” she ordered as she turned towards him. “I need to see what’s going on.” Ace shook his head. “No, you need to let Diego help him. He’s been through this sort of thing before, so he can relate to what Luka’s feeling.” “But he might not be the right person to

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 14 Devon paced nervously up and down the small corridor. The art show was starting in a few minutes and he was nervous. He was wearing black skinny jeans, a bright blue t-shirt and high tops that matched the new blue streaks in his jet-black hair. “Dev, calm down!” Ace ordered. He was leaning up against a nearby wall grinning at his nervous friend. “I can’t. What if no one likes it?” “Are you kidding?” Ace laughed. He had spent most of the day h

Second Chances By Andrew Todd Chapter 13 Mattie stood nervously in the doorway. “Come in, Mattie,” the woman said, smiling at him. Mattie stepped into the room and she shut the door behind him. “I’m Jean Bingham. Would you like to have a seat?” She gestured to several chairs that were in a loose circle around an old coffee table. Mattie sat in a straight-back chair and fidgeted. Jean sat in a chair opposite Mattie and smiled warmly. “Mattie…Do you prefer Mattie or Mateo or Matt?” she as

Hey All-- So, after re-reading Chapters 12 & 13, I decided that I would post Chapter 13 before my 'hiatus' as it is a more fun chapter and is a good ending point. Chapter 14 starts a very long week for the boys (5 chapters and counting) so those who have complained about me 'rushing' things...be careful what you wish for. Another reason I am posting this chapter is it's the first one to really deal with the rescue and that has been on my mind a lot in recent weeks (more than usual). One of the horses we rescued over the summer has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of skin cancer...and to make matters worse, when he was taken for his first treatment, it was discovered that he had a tumor behind his eye. He is now being treated every other week at a very good veterinary hospital (a 2 hour trip each way) and the treatments will end up costing the rescue thousands of dollars. All of us who volunteer at the ranch and work with, care for and love the horses have pledged to do all we can to raise the necessary monies. I have sent countless e-mails to friends and relatives and to those who are on my mailing list. As I have this soap box, I also decided to use it. If anyone would like to donate to this cause I have set up a paypal.com account (under: atodd867@gmail.com). I have to balance my anonymity with my goal of raising as much money as I can for this cause. One thing I want to make clear, is that this is a not a 'quid pro quo' deal...donating or not will not increase or decrease my writing output. I am just trying to exhaust every possible avenue available to me. Thank you.

Hey All-- I've just posted Chapter 12 of 'Second Chances'. I'm early this week, because my work schedule is a little bonkers. After this chapter, there is going to be a (hopefully) short break in my postings. I've fallen behind in my writing and the leeway I had with chapters has all but vanished. So, I find myself needing to take some time to sort things out and play catch up. Thank you for your understanding. Hopefully, it will be a short break.
