Just to put an end to this kerfuffle: Canadian Battle Dress was phased out in the late 1960s and early 1970s, being replaced by the CF Green uniform. While Battle Dress was initially adopted from 1939 to the 1960s as the standard military attire, it was gradually replaced by the new uniform during this period. Specifically, the CF Green uniform began to be issued in the late 1960s and continued into the early 1970s, marking the end of Battle Dress's widespread use.

I never went to univ/college. Less than a month after HS, I traded in my jacket and tie(it was still the required dress at the time) and donned my battledress while learning how to properly wrap my puttees. Spit shining my ankle boots took me forever to learn, well, awhile anyways. My ankle boots had metal horseshoes on their heels and toe taps, if you dragged your feet, making sparks in the dark, along with (of course) dire warnings from very unhappy ncos. I can still recall a few of their choice words to us. Fortunately, unification came along shortly afterwards. Battledress was replaced with CF Greens/black shoes(still spit shined) and combat dress/leather boots with rubber heels for field work. After 26 years I had the spit shining mastered. Those were the days my friends, I thought they'd never end(a tear while writing this). CWM_SupplyLine_Puttees_EN_FINAL_20140922 - CWM_SupplyLine_Puttees_EN_FINAL_20140922.pdf To me this blog, is like the HS English that I enjoyed, thank you very much @Myr. Take care all,
