  1. I don't think I've ever finished reading one of his books and felt... comfortable. I'm neither trans nor gender-nonconforming, and I found getting to know the character of Frank, and his father, and his brother, both generally upsetting and at times incredibly tough. It is a total surreal mind-fuck of a book (who said that originally?) but bearing that in mind, it is also an incredible piece of writing. And good enough that I've gone back to read it another twice. I also put that he does not, in any book I've read, deliver any endorsement of male chauvinism. In fact, if you get to the end of The Wasp Factory, I'd say it was entirely the opposite.
  2. boxers, shorts, panties, thongs, briefs.... all of that stuff. The things which in the UK are called pants, which is why you get some confusion across the pond. In short, my question is this: Does the kind of underwear your characters wear matter, and how often does it come up in what you write and read? I have realised over the last few months, that a lot of my characters wear some very specific underwear. Zupan is guided gently into lacy boxer shorts by his adorable boyfriend-turned-husband. Jian the Tiger wears tiny little fitted boxer briefs - and Emmett imagines them with tiger print on. Ashlee wears very girly underwear and drives Clem mad with it. Marty is forbidden from wearing underwear by his not-boyfriend-not-enemy Hrishi, and it becomes a bit of a thing for them. Hani wears underwear described in great detail, partly because for a long time it's the only item of clothing he owns. I don't really have a thing for underwear, so why do so many of my characters do? Does anyone else notice? And does anyone find this is their writing too?

    558 - Eggs

Oh Jesse! This is not where you wanna jump right into the middle of hell. It starts to get really complicated about now. Glad you enjoyed it anyway, even though you had no idea what was going on. If you do go back and read the first few stories, please forgive the terrible writing and complete lack of editing. I was young and useless then, and I didn't have Ma to whip me into shape.
  4. In reply to the OP: Trust me, English guys jerk off just as often as they have a wank.

"Squee" is just what I wanted to hear! Can you imagine how happy Nassau is going to be? Also, if there are puppies, then you will see Tobias dissolve into a puddle of goo faster than you can snap your fingers.

not mpreg, never. That's why they're eggs. Vruu is not pregnant, Shindae just ain't that smart. As for the hatchlings, you'll just have to wait and see, like everyone else.

    Big Day Today

thank you Tim. The Z boys are such a good match, I agree. And I love your comment about Zupan's wardrobe. You can't change a man, but you can make adjustments!

oh yes, Jahke is fully capable of enjoying himself with his friends in his own right these days. He's grown so much. Though of course, he loves playing with others for the delight of his mate. Exhibitionist little thing that he is. Yup, Vruu laid eggs. Isn't this going to be....interesting.

Sorry ma.... *hangs head shamefully*. I had meant to run it all past you when we finished with IS, but then there was a prompt. I couldn't help myself.
  10. “What do you mean, you’re pregnant?” “Could you keep your fucking voice down Shindae?” Atoki snapped at the fire demon, anger flashing across his features. Behind him, his mate snarled low, curling up tighter in the big hearth which took up an entire wall of their bedroom. “Shit it!” “Guys, I’m seriously confused now. Help a guy out?” Shindae was usually a welcome guest in the room of the house’s only other fire demons, but when he attempted to take a seat on the hot stones of the hearth, Vru
  11. I'll use hahaha when i'm talking in my voice in the forums and such, but not as a writer. I never use LOL style abbreviations - they became a thing when I was teenager, and I can't help but associate them with the jerks at our school who would use them in actual conversation.
  12. Oh Comic! It's like you're looking inside my head! I wasn't going to share those secrets yet, but now I have no choice! Off I go to write! *skips away*
  13. oh yeah! awesome. I hadn't seen (since rep isn't displayed under our names any more on posts) but this is cool. Thanks Tim!
  14. Or what he ended up telling his boyfriend about it all....

    Chapter 18

Dusk and Shade have nothing to do with hell, and not all the people in that crowd were demons. They are supernaturals of the highest order. The heralds of the Gods. You may not need to start screaming - only one chapter to go after all.

    Chapter 18

Dusk and Shade are an important part of the larger universe. Hopefully you might see more of them in time. They are the heralds to the Gods. Thank you.
  17. I'm not sure UK Microsoft Word has this extra information, what with Flesh-Kincaid grades being entirely based on the US education system. At least, I have never seen it after a grammar check. I use open office now (side effect of using xubuntu to avoid Windows 10), so can't have a go, though I might double check at work.
  18. OK, you've got me hooked. How on earth do you find out the Flesh-Kincaid index score for a piece of writing you've done? I read the article, which I found really interesting, but it doesn't actually explain how to get those results without hand counting lots of stuff. Neither did the Wiki article. Was there a program you used for this?
