  1. The judge was rightfully concerned, over reacted, and it will no doubt have an effect on her ruling. Very well played by Fitz. Considering what kinds of stories family court judges hear day in and day out I'm kinda surprised at her reaction. Hopefully Fitz will let us know why she reacted so strongly without finding out exactly what happened. She's gotta know that a child's recounting of an event often needs some de-coding. Can't wait to read what happens next.

    Chapter 1

Having read Precious Teahouse I finally made time to read more of your writing. Apparently it's been a year since Hiro and Ayase had this encounter. It would be nice to get another glimpse into their lives.
  3. well reading moby dick is no help at all. face it, no one born since 1900 can figure out a word of melvile's tortured, twisted, compounded, confounded, archaic, anachronistic antagonistic, prose anyhow. its fairly clear that Ahab went down stuck to the harpooned whale, but beyond that I'm unable to decipher what it is he is trying to say. There was at least one survivor to write the tale.
  4. Well, I'm anxiously waiting too. But with 48 pages it wouldn't surprise me if it had to make two rounds of the reviewers. A while back someone mentioned concerns about some shoals that Atlantis had to pass over. I'm thinking that with the storm surge that usually accompanies a hurricane combined with Atlantis' very shallow draft (remember Rhys Lagoon?) that passing over the shoal will be surprisingly easy, if indeed they make it that far. Katrina created a record breaking 27.8 foot storm surge at Pass Christian, so the additional 2-4 feet that Atlantis needs to clear the reef shouldn't be a problem. Of course that makes me wonder how much protection the bay will actually provide if they get past the shoal. No doubt CJ has researched all this carefully, if it turns out to be relevant.

    Chapter 32

Nice plot twist. I'm impressed. I am worried about poor Zach, but I trust that the judge isn't overly swayed by the shenanigans, although this is bound to cause some angst. I know in some states the judge would not be able to consider the sexual orientation, but individual behavior/history of those involved might come into question. I wonder what 'prision ministry' zealot is funding the opposition.
  6. Nice interlude and as always appropriate reminder of how you brought us here in the story. I know it's almost time for the story to end, but I'm gonna miss these characters, even if I sometimes mix up who's who in my mind.
  7. I fear we have not seen the last of Sarah. She's gonna milk the next one dry then come back with the words "But he didn't love me like you did." Let's hope Tom is smarter than I was once upon a time. " . . . I should have changed that stupid lock, I should have made you leave your key . . ."

    Cupid's Arrow

Michael has an agenda. His co-workers didn't call him the shark for no reason. Sitting on the sidelines here it's easy to see. If I were Asher I'd be drooling and sweating too, I just expect other people to be smarter at this stuff than I am. What can I say beyond the cliche of "the plot thickens."
  9. in vi·no ve·ri·tas I've dated a mean drunk before, never again. Asher is headed toward heartache and more. Not that I'm gonna stop reading, KC is too good a writer for that, and I only just started reading his work two chapters ago.
  10. well done. i guess about all thats left is the sad fulfillment of Paul's vision of Arlington.
  11. I understand that in a way all of Legacy is an epilogue of sorts, but if this is the last chapter I hope you will at least provide an epilogue of the epilogue. Its been quite a story.

    Epilogue 2

Thank you for including Momma M. She's been silent so long.

    Chapter 41

Glad there will be epilogues, so many loose ends. Of course life is full of loose ends. I really enjoyed the story, you are a talented writer. I wish some of the peripheral lives, like Micah's brothers and sisters had been filled out a bit, but I know you didn't want to detract from the main story, and the way Micah was raised, they would have been peripheral to him. Hope you have another story to share soon.

    Chapter 40

very moving chapter. clearly betty loves all her children

    Chapter 39

Betty needs to take responsibility for her own life and her own choices and stop trying to live through her children's lives.
  16. I'm not that worried about Shane's condition. They can get a plane to drop medical supplies and they have communication. To some extent, assuming Trevor's wound isn't too deep they could even drop some blood for a transfusion, if he knows his type. The other two are going to have a lot to do for a couple of days of initial recuperation, but they have always been willing to take on hard work before. I'm not saying the issues aren't important, but they can be dealt with at least for now. To me the real issue is how much of a safe haven is atlantis going to provide. We know she's damaged, and even without the hurricane winds the constant motion of the sea is going to take its toll, continuing to weaken her. Is there any way they can provide a temporary patch or otherwise strengthen the hull? CJ has enough issues to start a whole new series, but he promises one more chapter and an epilogue. A chapter in 12 parts released every two weeks for the rest of "December"?

    Chapter 37

whatever the letter holds, whatever the college does or doesn't do, micah has a solid platform to stand on, and when the time comes to spring forward from.
  18. Encore! Well done. Maybe Bridget's death could have been enhanced by one of her people taking pot shots of her in the water, but that would have been too far fetched. No one would get that close to her in those conditions except to collect the bounty. There is no such thing as a long and painful enough death. Her's was probably longer than the poor agent who was eaten by the alligators. And who knows how long her brain was experiencing pain after she took the last fatal breath, not to mention the way time seems to expand when we are in pain. And part of her brain also knew that in spite of all her cunning and brutality, all the money and time, that in the end Trevor and Shane beat her at her own game on her own turf. As for the next phase, no doubt CJ has some surprises in store, he certainly does his homework in that. So we know they can't exit the way they came in, we know there is no trap door in the floor to escape thru (submarine), and we know boats can't fly so it looks like the end of the line for Atlantis, even if our fearless crew manages somehow to survivie. All I can figure is somehow up and over the top. The cartel doesn't have a sub capable, does it have a helicopter or some other kind of plane? And how long will the eye of the storm be that large. From what I saw of the eyewall generation cycle sometimes they will have quite a swath of relative calm, other times it's going to seem relatively tight, and probably rougher - but I haven't done my homework on that, although no doubt CJ has.

    Chapter 33

My reading has caught up with the story, I now have to wait with the rest of the readers as each chapter reveals itself. Worth the wait.

    Chapter 6

Amazed he was willing to go into the attic after the guilt from the last episode.

    Chapter 5

I'm reminded of an old story. A concert pianist is approached by an awestruck fan who utters "I'd give my life to play like that." The pianist replies simply "I did." Micah is one of those who was given a great gift in his life, an ability to achieve greatness in his field. Something shared by people like Yo-Yo Ma, Steve Jobs, Joe Namath, Henry Ford, etc. Sometimes we forget that greatness comes at a cost. We are the only ones to decide if that cost was worth it in the end.
  22. Well i think i've got it figured out, there are two possibilities 1) The great grandson of Captain Nemo is still wandering the oceans in the ancient Nautilus waiting for an opportune moment for that storied vessel to make it's reappearance. While this is a possibility the chances of a goat using a previously supposed 'fictional' character as a plot line seems improbable (although it has never been scientifically proven that Nemo or Nautilus were indeed fictional.) 2) Clive Cussler was in the Caribbean doing research for his next Dirk Pitt novel when he learns of the troubles facing our Atlantis, and in true Cussler fashion pulls of an improbable last minute rescue. This would work, but I don't know of any precedent of a goat collaborating with another author. Well fellow fans, I admit, I'm stumped.
  23. well if patience is a virtue, this is a very virtuous group of readers
  24. I came late to the story, read some chapters, then lost track of it again till recently. Very moving, very real. Seems like we may have to learn some things about Sarah's own past before we can understand where she is coming from. Among my straight friends - often of different ethnic or cultural backgrounds - it is often the grandchildren that bring a family together. Not just because of need but because of the love that children bring out of people. I'm gonna be surprised if Zach doesn't bring a thaw to the In-law's house, apparently something long overdue. The author has been so good about not making anyone - except Zach's mom - a total villain or a complete hero, just real people with flaws and foibles, along with their strengths. I'ts going to be a LONG weekend before the hearing.
