Oh, back then, with Ed, I wasn't interested in how he dressed!  Only in how he undressed, if you know what I mean. . . .

But of course I was still too enmeshed in Baptist theology to have the courage to try to lead him into temptation.  He was a good guy, though, and probably wouldn't have put me in the hospital if I'd had the guts to tell him how much he meant to me . . . (sigh)

Breaks my heart, hearing stories like that. I know a lot of people still have those experiences, but I realise how lucky I am to have grown up in a time and a place where exploring one's sexuality was less taboo, even if I've experienced some prejudice too.

But it sparked a thought:  can people switch their sexual orientation?

I mean... I did. I used to identify as bi, but I've lost nearly all sexual interest in women. Can still experience romantic feelings toward them, but no sexual attraction unless there's an emotional component involved. Sexuality can be fluid. It can change over time. Whereas it's set in stone for some, for others it's not.

Upon first glance at this thread, I immediately thought of one of my favorite stories on this site and the song that was mentioned near the end of the story

    "Inside of You" by Hoobastank.

It is very obvious the song is about sex, especially when a particular admin writes about a particular toy in a particular story.

I would quite like to know which story this is. :)

The way they use the ø isn't to change the sound. It mimics the appearance of the cover art used some of the time.

Don't believe it's my browser, I tried to embed it...let me try it this way :)

Oh, I know they're not trying to change the sound. I'm saying ø is a letter and it sounds like the vowel sound in hurt or burst or flirt and it's absolutely hilarious to read as a person whose alphabet has that letter in it. It's funny because it's unintentional. :P

I stumbled back across this song last night.  It still blows my mind that a heavy metal band did a cover of a Simon and Garfunkel classic.  And did such an outstanding job.  And damn if the message behind the song still doesn't ring true today...  no one is listening to each other.  Disturbed - The Sound of Silence.  Damn, does David Draiman have a set of pipes.

I adore that version! I love it just as much as the original.

I haven't mastered the art of embedding videos ;)

You have no idea how hilarious it is as a Scandinavian to see people use ø in place of o, because it does NOT make that sound in any language where it's a real letter. :gikkle:

Also, the videos are supposed to embed automatically when you paste the link in. Might be something with your device or browser?

  7. It's totally okay! While the majority of the stories on GA are about men, there are absolutely stories about women. Like northie pointed out, there's a lesbian tag. Bisexual too. There are also stories about trans and nonbinary people. Personally, I'd love to see more diversity, so bring it on! :)

EDIT: Here's a link to the lesbian tag. One of mine is on there too. :)

Thanks. i like knitting. I'm made a bunch of things. I really like colour work. I watch Arne and Carlos's channel on You Tube and started doing that because of them. During last year they did a daily podcast to try and help people during the first year of Covid. They offered little stranded colour work blocks each week for free. i've knitted several of them and made cushions for my nephew. I like them and also Kate at the Last Homely House.

That's very cool. My sister-in-law is who tried to get me into it. She picked it up when she was pregnant with my nephew. Now she makes a living at it, publishing knitting books, primarily with clothes for young children. She's also a photographer, so my niece and nephew model the clothes for the books. Which is cool. I just don't have the patience to get good at it. Have I mentioned I'm in the process of possibly getting an ADHD diagnosis? Suddenly my life is explained. 😅

Thanks. They are fast to make. Michael has ordered 20 for Xmas gifts.  i said, I'll make them You open an Etsy shop.. haha.

If you open an Etsy shop, I'll totally buy one. Those are so precious! I've got this book for knitting little animals and also things like cacti with eyes, they're adorable, but I'm a terrible knitter so they never turned out very well. :P Yours are awesome!

Good to see you too! I'm doing all right, all things considered. I see you've had surgery. Glad you're feeling better!

I’ve been doing okay. The routine has been the same for a long time now, but with the last few weeks, shovelling snow has been a change of pace.

We've had a lot of snow here too and it's been absolutely freezing, but it got warmer over the weekend and now nearly all the snow has melted. Nice that it's not so cold, less nice that there's no more snow to brighten up the dark nights.
