Hi! 👋 Chinese food is awesome.

I just noticed that new gallery images no longer seem to be featured on the Forums page. Is there a reason for this? Feels like you have to go hunting for them now, especially since you have to scroll down to the bottom to find the new images in the Gallery itself. It was nice to be able to see the pictures people were uploading without having to go look for them. I think it'll be a lot harder for people to get comments and feedback now, which seems a shame especially for artists who share their work.

Maybe you’ll be pleasantly surprised? I actually eat quite a bit of vegan food, and have since I was a kid. My mum’s Russian orthodox, so for lent we basically ate vegan food when I was growing up, as well as Wednesdays and Fridays most weeks. There’s a lot of good stuff out there now, new and better meat replacements (you’re really not restricted to tofu), non-dairy options that actually do the same stuff dairy does... It might be nice.

Jacob’s ladder refers here to two things, I believe. Jacob's Ladder (Hebrew: סולם יעקב‬ Sulam Yaakov) is an element in a dream that the biblical Patriarch Jacob has during his flight from his brother Esau in the Book of Genesis. It is also a device for producing high voltage traveling arcs, an electrical effect often employed in classic cinematic portrayals of scientific laboratories. I can’t seem to find a date for the poem, but the song is from 1986. This arrangement for choir is from what I can tell from 2004.

Think I've sobered up enough for bed now. Never liked going to bed tipsy, I never feel like I can sleep properly... Tomorrow is the great Christmas shopping day, cause I've been putting it off. All of the gifts must be purchased! Goodnight everybody!

My choir have been singing this for our Christmas concerts. I did the solo last night. We sing it better than these people. Basically, it suits a small choir better than a big one. The lyrics are a poem by a Norwegian poet called Erik Bye. It's a wonderful poem. The title translates to Song in Winter Light. This is a translation of the poem itself: In the winter light when the fjord is sleeping and breathes mist against the skin of the earth And pious spruces bow their heads on their way to church as pale sisters dressed in white In the winter light when the mountain raises its frosty brow to the sun's play And the north wind has white fingers that play on strings of fire and ice Then humans lift up sacrificial flames deep, deep inside behind drifts of snow And raise up thin little Jacob's ladders into the air just like threads of smoke But your eyes never were so bright as now, and never your mouth so red And never did your soul burn towards me, as warm and naked as blood in snow And my hands reach for your hands, your breath like embers against my cheek In the winter light when the earth trembles, then you belong so much more to me Not the best translation, I think, but I did the best I could. 😅 Translating poetry is hard.

On my way home from sharing a bottle of Chablis with my friend. Been a good evening, really. Though drinking half a bottle of wine on an empty stomach might not have been the best idea... 😅 How’s everyone doing this afternoon/evening?

So tired. Sang with my choir at a thing at the university of Oslo, met a friend for coffee, meeting my mum now for shopping, and having a beer with another friend in 2 hours. Though in a way it’s good to have it all at once. Then I can relax for the rest of the week and not have to socialise (except on Friday when my former flatmate’s coming to dinner).

This is a true thing.

Tonight is the annual colab Christmas concert, with the other choirs we’re affiliated with. I am so BORED! Would like to be anywhere but here. in other news, been texting with that new friend of mine, and have the biggest friend crush right now cause it’s been ages since I met someone I could just ramble on about everything with and they know exactly what i’m talking about. And vice versa. At least I hope it’s just a friend crush, cause anything else would be... inconvenient.
