Discovery - Chapter 7
Cole Matthews commented on Cole Matthews's story chapter in Discovery - Chapter 7
I don't know the story about the murder. However, there is a short story which introduces readers to Clay and I named the story Boy River. I did so because of something his boyfriend did to him and it is referential to the sex trade. Since there is a town called that in northern Minnesota, I used the locale as Clay's hometown. Thanks, Cole -
Happy Birthday!!! Thank you Myr and thanks to all who help keep the lights on here. It's hard to quantify and qualify how this place has changed my life. I've written lots of stuff in the past but never really found my voice. Then, I found this place. It inspired me to try again, and this time I wrote a whole novel. It only primed the pump because the encouragement, the support, the wonderful critiques and suggestions, have all helped me to grow as a writer. I continue to write and read and critique because of this community of artists. Writers and readers come and go, and come back, and so this is a sustainable colony of people working on their creations and enjoying other people's stories. The longevity isn't a fluke. It's because people are committed to keeping the ship afloat and doing so with style, care, and love. Sincerely, Cole

I think they're used to people quitting on a dime. It's not unusual for people in that position to simply disappear. That's an interesting point. Steve's disappearance seemed to have very little impact, even to his parents. Thanks for the observation. Very sharp! -
Discovery - Chapter 12

Interesting theory. However, the civil case is over. The criminal case has begun. Twyla is struggling with her husband's illness. I think she's actually relieved it wasn't an accident. Rush and Ben discuss things in the next chapter. Thanks for the idea, but Bailey Safety is out of it. I can reveal that. Awesome!!! -

Well, I don't have a butler and Miss Scarlett has left the building, but you're right. I'm having a great time devising a mystery, and the clews are definitely there to be found. The next chapter has Rush and Ben discussing the situation and what connections Wylie and Ogden may have had. Thanks for the awesome compliment!!!! -
Salix Babylonica 1 - Listless The grounds of the place were dominated by several large, old willow trees that towered over the surrounding stone wall and swayed soundlessly in the wind like lost souls. Haruki Murakami Ben saw Rush sitting on a park bench, under the enormous weeping willow, next to the pond, so close to their home. He was looking straight forward, not moving, and he seemed so alone. As he neared, the paralegal got the impression Rush was shrinking and the

Thank you so much. Those are the events we remember. It's the flaws that can make something interesting and even beautiful. It makes me feel good you are loving the characters because that's my favorite part. Very much appreciated!

You are very correct. Bisexuality is a real thing and it could play a role. We will find out more about Steve and his connections. Lots more to come, and you have some pretty good instincts!!!! Thanks so much!

You're absolutely right! Many times, the public thinks kinky only belongs to the queer community, but it doesn't. That's why assuming things can be problematic, yet we see that all the time. Thanks for the comments.

People do odd things around a loved ones death. Jake's mom is struggling with her son's death and living in a fantasy world. It's unfortunate, but she's a mess. The plaintiff's expert is supposed to figure out a way to blame the defendants. She couldn't do so very clearly. Of course, the defense expert didn't know what happened either. You're very right. There is a big investigation coming, and things will slowly become clearer. Thanks for the awesome comments!!!

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the excitement because I'm really loving this story! I'm glad you appreciate it.

Excellent observation. However, these are teens who happen to be gay. They are very group oriented and status driven. Teens are usually clannish and look at others with suspicion. Clay's different with a history that is daunting. He's coping the best he can. I'm sure being seen as ordinary is solace to him. Thanks for the insightful comments.

The deposition is the examination of a witness. The ADA knows the whole story already. This is the formal questioning, but they've been interviewed and have the reports from the event already. There are no secrets revealed in most depositions. Great question!!!

Clay's doing all right. He's coping with things and there may be hint spring in the air soon!!! We will see. They are definitely rushing to stop the investigation. I think you'll see in the next chapter why the plaintiff's counsel is so nervous and edgy. Thanks for lovely comments and observations!!!

Discovery 11 “Meet at Hen House 1 pm for brief,” the text message read. It was from Detective Hammond’s personal phone, not his official cell or his office number. Rush really didn’t want to go. He knew Hammond wanted his help and working for Hammond in the best of times was painful. However, the cop had assisted a bit with the space heater case. Rush sighed, and that made Ben ask, “What’s wrong?” “Hammond,” he answered, clearing his screen and popping his phone back into his messen

Yeah! Thank you.

Hmmm! It is based on my experiences. The story unfolding is about what these characters would have faced. It’s a good question, and I think it requires more reading. 😘 there is a case with a person who died, and it spurred a case. It was suspect. Keep reading. Not everything is cut and dried 😎 Thanks!

This is the continuation of the story that becomes SWTW. It’s the guts of the story. These are people finding family, and it is reflected in the next generation of the story. Thank you so much!

Amen. This is a huge problem we don’t deal with. People use children and this falls through the cracks. Sadly it doesn’t seem a priority to some people. It is to me. Thanks for your comments and observations.

Thanks so much. The story needs to be considered. There are too many sexual predators and the prey who live with the consequences. I appreciate the comments.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful comments. This story came about because of my witnessing a debate about sex predators and abuse of children. Clay’s story isn’t unique. It touched me deeply. More of Clays struggles are part of my work. Thank you!
