Chapter 1 - The Bear Named Bear
Cole Matthews commented on Cole Matthews's story chapter in Chapter 1 - The Bear Named Bear
Thanks so much. This is the whole story. The rest of these stories are other ones about different topics and characters with the building being the central theme. It’s a special place where strange coincidences happen. I appreciate the comment! 💋 -
Giving Character: A fast food employee" and "a department store Santa" Words to incorporate: "what was left behind" and "woods" Karla straightened her red and yellow tunic, adjusting the neckline so the cartoon chicken emblazoned on the chest would be square. The grease stains were gone, but in their place were faded spots on the mustard-colored fabric. She’d need to buy a new uniform soon. They were so expensive though and in the new year she’d get a fresh new u

Relationship abuse in the gay community is not addressed as often as it should be. This is a excellent account that brings the subject to light. As a former bartender, I saw this kind of manipulation and physical abuse up close. I think the emotional and psychological entrapment and isolation are the worst part. I had my own situation I got out of luckily quite early. I was very fortunate. Great job!

This is an excellent tale, because it shows how breakups are never easy, always more complicated than it appears, and involve a string of betrayals back and forth between the parties. Toby felt Sloan's absence and needed someone. Sloan knew his absence, both physical and emotional, was wearing on them, yet did nothing. Jason accidentally fell for Toby and then Toby fell for him. All these moving parts were bookended with an accident. Someone asleep at the wheel (is it Tait or Sloan?)and hurt each other and there is a cost to that injury. Well done!!!

Chapter 1 Enlightenment
Cole Matthews commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 1 Enlightenment
I really like the name of the story. It's really fitting and precisely what is good advice. In order to pursue you happiness, you must pull up your big boy pants, gather your courage, and do what's right for you. That advice comes through from this story. Well done!!! -
This was a very well done 'fairy' tale, (tehe) and there was a message embedded in it which is interesting. While Bobby was out to the world and even had a boyfriend and a family that understood, he still kept a secret. There was a part of him that still needed to 'come out' as it were. This theme is intriguing because it denotes something even more telling than the social acceptance of being attracted to and loving the same sex. It is an exploration into a second closet. I think the fairy tricked Bobby and in the end he may regret being in a harem, but it's still a fascinating idea to explore. Great job!!!

Discovery 5 Eddie Warner was the opposite of Natalie Howe; he was strikingly handsome, almost too much so. He was about six feet tall, slim, though rangy with muscles that were proportional to his build. His face was fine-boned, but with a broad, jutting chin and high cheekbones that gave his smooth, tan skin enough edges to be masculine. His smile was charming, but he looked devastated. Even though his features were lovely, he looked smudged with grief. Still chatting on his cellphone,

Discovery - Chapter 4
Cole Matthews commented on Cole Matthews's story chapter in Discovery - Chapter 4
Thanks Defiance! You have some good questions. What about the open door? Why was that heater being used? What do we know about Nats and Jake's relationship? We know what Jake told us in the blog. How much is what he believed? Nats behavior is certainly suspicious. She does remember quite a bit. However, I've found some people also get a kind of photographic memory during times of stress. I appreciate the comments. As always, very insightful. -
Discovery - Chapter 4

No, carbon monoxide doesn't smell. Lisa, you're right. I, too, would do what she did. Her friend was lying there and what did she know? That being said, Winnie lost her son. I'm not sure she's in her right mind. Of course, she's not exactly mother of the year in the best of times. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thanks so much for the wonderful comments. -

Those are excellent points. You follow the logic perfectly. However, let's consider it further. Natalie comes in, feels the heat, sees her friend is non-responsive, and tries to help the situation. I think I would have done the same thing. That being said, did she know something? Was there a smell? We will find out more shortly. It's so hard to know what we'd do. In any case, you've done a masterful job at dissecting it. I look forward to more of your observations. Thanks!!! -

Certainly, Jake's mom isn't a conventional one. She's obviously had some issues, and the death of her son hasn't helped. Winnie's problems aren't really secrets. Though Rush probably doesn't know the extent, not yet. You won't need to know all the bits and pieces to the story. I won't trick the reader. By the end, you'll know the whole story. I hope you enjoy getting to know Twyla, Rush, Clay, Ben, and Naomi. Hopefully, you'll also get to know more about Jake, since he's the person at the center of the story. Thanks for the review!! I'll keep your thoughts in mind as I continue the story. -
This is a very good story, well told, with vibrant characters, including Max. You can feel his terror and confusion all bundled up in the same package. Max didn't get to tell his tale, but I think Will and Saul managed to give us a powerful impression. Will's character was interesting as his father's advocate. Unfortunately, most people with health issues like that don't have an advocate in their corner. Will made it his mission to help his father and in the end, his bringing Saul and Max back together shows it wasn't too late, not at all. I'm old enough to remember those times well.

Door#13 - Eternal Flame
Cole Matthews commented on Aditus's story chapter in Door#13 - Eternal Flame
The Advent Calendar included 8 pieces each by Aditus, Valkyrie and me. Then we collaborated on the last chapter for Christmas. Addy posted them all under his banner, then afterwards, it was separated out. I hope you enjoy it. -
Discovery - Chapter 3

I saw an autocorrected comment of mine and I just blanched. I’m sorry I didn’t review more carefully. I’m mortified by this. 🤮 -
Discovery 4 Twyla watched the news and she felt a weird sense of deja vu. There were reports of another death from a kerosene heater. Like her brother. Like had happened to her fucking brother. This time, it injured the employees of a business. According to the news report, a thirteen-year-old girl living upstairs had escaped through the back exit, just in time. That fucking heater almost killed a child. Some woman, named Charity or Cherish, was being interviewed and told the

Discovery - Chapter 3
Cole Matthews commented on Cole Matthews's story chapter in Discovery - Chapter 3
I know what you mean. I hope you enjoy the investigation, as it unfolds. It will be more involved. Lots more coming up with Clay, Rush and Ben. Their dynamic is a central part of the story. I hope you enjoy seeing them figure it out. Thanks for the lovely comments. Greatly appreciated! -
Discovery - Chapter 3

Clay is playing nice and Ben is still nervous. They are figuring out who they are to each other. It's an easy exercise. I wanted this story to talk about the process here. Civil litigation is what I do, so I've seen a lot and have observed things from inside and outside. Hopefully, this will give the reader an idea of how it unfolds and what traps and benefits are there. Thanks for the wonderful comment. I appreciate it. -
Discovery - Chapter 3

Thanks Lisa! I think Tom is schmoozing a client. He's trying to build rapport, though he is a bit of a cad. I'm glad you enjoyed some of the scenes, especially some of the humor. I love adding that to a story. Clay is trying to make good with Ben. He was seriously worried about Rush and so he's on his best behavior. Trust me, Clay is a teen through and through and it will come out, in the future. Naomi's firm is handling defendants being sued, and in this case it's one of the components of the heater in question. I should add something about that, though it will be more clear soon enough. Another heater has caused an incident. Next chapter is coming up!!! Thanks so much! -

Hahaha!!! I guess I should explain better. Mo is short for homo, a kind of sibling joke told among friends. It's all in friendly jest. Thanks for the question. -

Brandon and Brenda are firefighters. Fire related deaths are primarily investigated by the fire department in Minnesota. First responders like this look into the fact investigations. I should explain a little more in the upcoming chapters. Thanks for the comments! I love hearing how the story is unfolding in the reader's mind. Thanks!!! -

Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying the sections with Rush, Ben, and Clay. Their story is important. This is an interesting perspective on Laura. In a way, I think you're absolutely right and I love seeing it in that light. This is why I love comments like this. Thank you so much!!! -

Thanks for the lovely compliment. I hope it's good. I'm working hard on it. There are more clues to come, so you can collect them over the next few chapters. Lots of stuff to come. I appreciate the kind words!!! -
