What a delightful end to the weekend! I was a little surprised at Granger's liaison with the Countess. I thought he was generally monogamous with Caroline with respect to other women (the Tsarina excepted, given George couldn't refuse her). I guess that waltz was more erotic than he expected. Looking forward to learning more about the mysterious Mongol.
Fascinating chapter! Thank you.
I'm enjoying George's sojourn in the Russian court but it will be good for him to be back with the Royal Navy. I have no knowledge of the historical events but it seems like it won't be too long now.
So much political intrigue that Granger managed adroitly, as always. Looking forward to an interesting private audience with the Tsar then the start of the long journey home.
Thanks for a delightful Sunday evening treat!
I'm glad Will seems to have settled into more of a friendship with Tom, rather than a relationship. I don't think a relationship would have lasted and it would probably have gotten awkward. So, NYC for a few days, presumably, then onto the next new adventure. Can't wait to find out where!
Well, that was exciting! The plot was a resounding success. Granger and Daventry seem to have come through it with their reputations intact, thanks to some quick thinking and good counsel by George. I'll suggest Daventry's look was likely more "foul" than "fowl," but otherwise a brilliant chapter. Looking forward to the next installment.
I'm sad to see Connie go but, like Will, we knew it was inevitable. I expect Tom will depart with Stef and JP. Looking forward to the next of Will's adventures.
Fun chapter! I wondered when George would get around to having sex with the Tsarevich. And events are definitely heating up at the Palace. I'm having some difficulty picturing the mechanics of that bed, though. Perhaps an illustration would have helped.
Awesome chapter! Granger's move to the palace will no doubt prove interesting. Poor Winkler probably won't enjoy it much, even though he'll be relieved to be reunited with George. Can't wait to see how events unfold.
Great chapter with a lot of information to digest. Granger and Daventry do seem to be in somewhat dire straits. Glad Carolina, Freck, and Spencer are watching out for their welfare, even if their ability to do so is limited. I've got a feeling Spencer's declaration of personal friendship is going to prove significant in our hero's (and Daventry's) escape from Russia. I just had a horrible thought that Daventry might not make it out.
The news from home was very interesting. I believe Granger's younger son now outranks his older one who is only a Baron. (Although Granger will no doubt continue to be elevated in the peerage so that situation won't last). Freck is happily ensconced as a confirmed bachelor in the Granger household. Hercule has a new-found passion (and apparently skill) for cooking. Plus more on the origins of the Blakeney line of the family.
Thanks! Can't wait for more.
Awesome chapter! I'm really loving how Will and Connie's relationship is developing. The mani/pedi scene was fun but reminded me how desperately overdue I am to get my own done (stupid pandemic). The report of Randy's death does seem a bit suspicious. Can't wait to learn more.
Thanks, hon!
As much as Will's my favorite character, I do think he might have gone a bit over the top with how he dealt with Strider. Glad it worked out ok in the end. At least, it did this time. I've got a feeling things might not always go as smoothly over the course of his gap year. Btw, did we (and Will) know Stef was headed to Australia?
Thanks, hon! This was a delightful start to the weekend.
So sorry you felt the need to kill off von Beckendorf. In addition to a lover and good friend, Granger has lost a key component of his limited support network in Russia.
Thanks for a very thought-provoking chapter. Glad to have you back.
My husband and I managed to do the Coogee to Bondi coastal walk in 2019 so I can definitely appreciate the opulence of Will's accommodations. Will and Connie continue to be adorable together. Hopefully Randy doesn't interject too much drama, although I'm assuming there will be some. Btw, do those concierges need to knock before they enter the condo? If not, it could lead to some serious awkwardness. I also hope Connie remembers to make a second bedroom and bathroom appear lived in to maintain his cover.
Thanks again! Awesome chapter!
Neither George not Daventry seems especially happy with their encounters with the Empress. I'm curious to see if anything develops between Daventry and Sophia, and how that would change the dynamics chez Stroganov.
Thank you for the delightful NYE gift! Wishing you all the best for 2021.
Wow, things got a little tense there for a bit. Glad Connie was there to save the day. Also that he decided to break his rule. He and Will are adorable together.
Thanks, hon! Happy Friday!
PS: One quibble--it's not date-rape if you're not on a date. Just rape.
I'm very glad George helped strengthen the relationship between Pavel and his wife. I was surprised she chose to discuss such intimate topics with him, including her own liaison with the Tsar, but it seems to have paid off for all three of them.
Thanks for another delightful chapter.
