A day after returning from Tulum, CJ and Owen sat on their balcony enjoying the early evening breeze and CJ’s first attempt at replicating the Jalapeño Margaritas they had sampled over the weekend. A skewered pepper and a few drops of the tequila they had soaked in overnight gave the cocktail an extra kick. Owen smacked his lips. “That’s good, mate. If you flake out as a diplomat, you have a career as a mixologist.” “Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.” The year CJ spent at State

So, the painting showed three pairs of wolves and we have 3 packs involved, Sebastian's, Ben's, and Reilley and Kellan's old one. Any connection? A request, can you make the demise of those who hurt Reilley a long scene? Like with lots of pain before throats are ripped open.

Thanks, buddy. See you next Friday!

Ozzie's a bit more chill that CJ, but he's a willing participant in their explorations.

Did you peek ahead to CJ's soundtrack for their wine tasting? CJ's travels have led to a lot of descriptions of places, but I try not to make those a dry listing of locations. By making the setting background for conversations or activities, I get to share those details in a way that should resonate with readers instead of boring them to death. Glad you enjoyed this one. Part two coming up next weekend.

I think her uncle may also have one.

@scrubber6620 Thank you for the generous comment. Incorporating Liebe into the story has created situations I have to take her into account when her fathers do almost anything. In previous books, I've mentioned CJ traveling with Cesar (and maybe Brett) while he still lived in Miami. I credit those trips with influencing his exploration bug, and he appears intent on replicating those experiences with his daughter. By the time that girl hits high school, she will have traveled more than the average person. Diplokids, like military brats, can find it hard to adjust to frequent moves, but I think she'll do well because her parents make an effort to include her in their activities as much as possible.

Thanks, Tor. Merry Christmas, my friend.

New Year's Weekend? Crap I forgot that's coming up. Let me see what I can whip up.

It's been a challenge to have overlapping story lines between the main series and the spinoffs. Cadet runs through Ritch's graduation in 2024, so there are events CJ's involved in I touched upon but have yet to expand. One I can think of is CJ speaking at the AFA in the spring of 2024. He arrives in Colorado from New Orleans after spending Mardi Gras with Tank, but we don't know how that went or why CJ's so "important" he merits and invitation to speak. As for what happens in Mexico, it could be as simple as CJ getting into a fistfight with Northman and Lincoln stepping in. That could send them back to the US in a hurry.

I love eliciting fond memories with my stories. Thank you for making me smile. Some experiences stick with us even if they're nothing but a blip in our lives. Hope you have a good Christmas.

I had to get a present in for readers. After all, you guys keep showing me love, and I had to reciprocate.

Next chapter's Northman free, but I don't promise anything after that one. I've never been to Cancun or Tulum. One short visit to Mexico City a couple of decades ago, one night in Monterey that same trip, and a day stop during a cruise in Cozumel. I did rent a doorless Jeep during that visit and encountered a guy selling Coronas out of a cooler on the side of the road. They were 50 cents a piece back then so I took inflation into account.

@pvtguy Merry Christmas, Tony. My family wasn't exactly swimming in money while I grew up. The one family trip I recall taking was for Christmas 1969. My parents took my brother and me to New York so we could meet our grandfather, his wife, and our uncles. You should have seen us acting like the kids we were when we saw snow for the first time. I definitely made up for the lack of traveling later in life, much like your son. I still haven't been swimming in a cenote.

At least you didn't have to sneak around to read it at lunch time. Thanks, bud.
-
You're welcome! Yeah, this was a stress free vacation. Part two of their weekend coming up in the next chapter.

I'm jealous. No snow around here. Not that I was expecting any, but temps below 80 would have been nice. Hope you have a great one, Clancy.

@Anton_Cloche Virtual hugs and time spent together with people from all over the world is a poor substitute for time with family and friends, but it's better than nothing. Even though I'll be with my brothers this afternoon, had they not flown to Miami, I'd be spending the day watching basketball. Yeah, Liebe's definitely turning into a water baby. And her insistance on being tossed around means she inherited some of her father's wild streak. I'll be scared of her when she turns into a teen. Much love, huge hugs, and sloppy kisses.
-
Same to you, my friend. My brothers and their families are spending a little time in Miami, so we'll all be together this afternoon for the first time in ages.

Lo mismo a ti y los tuyos. Thanks for the continued support, Jose. And for the help with the next story.

When I scheduled the chapters' postings I was kinda happy the one on Christmas Day celebrated another holiday. Kinda appropriate this one was all about the three of them sharing family time.
-
Thanks, Job. Glad you're enjoying this installment.

I thought of you when writing this chapter, it wouldn't be a CJ story without at least one travelogue. Hope you're happy with this weekend's extra chapters. About 1k short of what you wanted, but Santa mentioned you'd been very good this year. Like @dughlassaid before, I tend to reward naughtiness.
-
Merry Christmas, Rob. I hope I provided a little extra cheer.

Damn right! But it has to be good naughty. LOL
