  1. @Clancy59 You're a troublemaker. Good for you. For all we know, Northman's been batted around from embassy to embassy for a while. What I really want is for CJ to lose his cool, reach across the desk, and grab Northman's tie intending to pull his head down and bang it on the hard surface. Everytime I see that scene, CJ ends up with a clip on tie in his hand.
  2. @Clancy59 Are you serious? Who would want to marry such a disagreeable man? I don't think after only a couple of months being a jerk to CJ, he's going anywhere. I mean, If I got rid of him who would we have to kick around?
  3. @scrubber6620 Interesting speculation. The fact the listening devices haven't yielded any audio, is probably a sign to the Russians they were discovered. At this point, the next move could be by either the Russians or the Americans. As for getting CJ thrown out of the country, I doubt they'd try that. Domogarov has an interest in CJ and I doubt he'll give up that easily. Even if he can't recruit our guy, it's better to keep him where he can keep an eye on CJ. The Bolshoi performance coming up in chapter 17.
  4. Okay, I'll just say thanks for reading, reacting, and commenting. LOL
  5. @84Mags I think many newer authors feel since they're writing romance novels they need to include lots of sex. Since I don't write that type of drivel... LOL My preference is to be sen as an author. Not just a gay one. You may have noticed I have as many straight characters, if not more, than gay ones. I try hard to reflect the real world.
  6. One drawback to our civil servant system is some people skate by under the afforded protections. It's tough to fire someone like that. Although a good way of keeping politics out of regular government operations, it's far from perfect. Not sure if Northman will ever cross the line and do anything that would get his ass fired. All we can do is wait and hope.
  7. Glad I could provide some relief. SO far, nobody has stood up to Northman, but I think that may change sooner than later.
  8. Me too. But neither you nor I have plans to run for office. CJ's sufficiently aware he has to keep his nose clean as much as possible. We've already had someone as president who was a liar and a cheat; we don't need another one. Even though CJ has mentioned he agrees with a few policy decisions, he doesn't want to turn into another jerk.
  9. Although I no longer like writing detailed sex scenes, I try to show the guys do go at it regularly. The fact they've known each other for so long helps. They may be married but first and foremost they're friends. Owen serves as a calming influence on his aggressive husband too.
  10. The ambassador likes him because he helps the embassy's image. Intelligence officers are apparently interested in working with him. Military personnel are now firmly in his corner. If there's a confrontation, Northman's going to lose.
  11. CJ's a people person if there was ever one. I've tried to show him making friends easily from the start. Those people he meets and charms will be a great resource once he's appointed somewhere else or runs for office.
  12. I believe jealousy motivates Northman. Had he been at the cocktail party, CJ and Owen's popularity could have made him more envious.
  13. The old CJ might have already beaten the crap out of Northman. But I've been trying to show him changing his ways and being less confrontational and violent. Let's see how long he can control his temper.
  14. I should have had the ginger vet fly down for the screening. He could have beaten the crap out of the bad ginger so CJ wouldn't have to soil his hands. Although he now has enough brownie points to qualify for a get-out-of-jail-free card if he pushes Northman out a window.
  15. Thank you, Tor.
  16. CJ's gregarious and outgoing, Northman reminds me of a constipated, miserable being. Sometimes, it's good to have allies when going into battle.

On Monday, CJ arrived at the embassy a little earlier than usual. He wanted to prepare the contact report for the previous day and get his meeting with Jimmy Chen over with before Stephen Northman could complain too much. His luck faltered. He had just completed the paperwork, and sent Northman a message explaining he had a meeting first thing in the morning, when the man once again surprised him with a stealthy approach. “What’s the meeting about, Mr. Abelló?” Northman stood at the entran
  18. The male version. Marist Brothers.
  19. Since Spanish's my first language it still has influence on me. I sometimes write sentences with a weird structure because that was how I originally learned. Spanish grammar rules tend to be simpler and more consistent. Funny thing is though I'm fluent in both, I'm more comfortable speaking English.
  20. @kbois At least you have a good base. I went to school in Spanish through 9th grade. The differences are significant.
  21. Been there... Cia destroyed my comma use when she proofed one of my early stories. I was left scarred for life. Honestly, I deserved the harsh lesson and have hopefully improved. Having a more experienced author edit my stuff for about one million words helped. Thanks, Mann. There's hope for most of us.

As with Pam in Ripper Christmas, you think too fast for my writing. BTW, check out AC's latest story/poem. You may recognize the theme as similar to one permeating this story.
  23. LMAO Smoke a doobie before you read those entries. You'll still be lost, but you won't care.
