CJ By Carlos Hazday - Series Discussion

The guy in the picture's actually from the Dominican Republic, but he can definitely pass for Cuban. CJ has more self-control than I would.- 3,873 replies

CJ By Carlos Hazday - Series Discussion

Hey! He had to strip when he went scuba diving! Had I been there, I may have wanted to lick a nipple or two. LOL- 3,873 replies

Camilo's my countermeasure to Jay. CJ made an enemy during the trip, and maybe a friend. We'll see what happens with Camilo. I've tried to slowly expand Owen's role while keeping CJ as the protagonist. Hell, in this story, CJ wouldn't have gone to Cuba if it wasn't because of his husband. And this little trip will definitely impact their future.

I've warned a couple of binge readers that they should read the spinoffs and spin-ins no later than after CDMX. I've written 3 stories set in the future and I have one more planned. Aren't you impressed I've kept track of continuity even while jumping back and forth in time?

You're gonna have to wait until next week to find out. But I think I should somehow have Jay and Northman meet. CJ better get used to people disliking him if he plans to run for office. No matter what he says or does, someone's bound to get pissed off. LOL

Even though this story qualifies as a novella instead of a short story, I still like tossing in a surprise or two. In Capitol Hill it was Clarence Thomas getting shot and Obama being appointed to the Supreme Court. Here's just a few gold coins and trinkets.

Those two will go diving every opportunity they take. As I mentioned before, I've tried to vary my descriptions. Tourists in Cuba can go swimming with bull sharks, but I already had them do that in a previous story. My solution was them finding treasure to keep it interesting..

Yeah, but you surf and I don't. Speaking of which, we need an extended scene with wolves surfing. Florida has coral reefs and warm waters, so diving's a popular activity. That sense of peace I've described a couple of times is similar to what you get when you hold your breath and drop to the bottom of a swimming pool. Diving, you feel the water and whatever you touch, and you hear your heartbeat and your breathing. One of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had.

Hey Tony- Oh, yeah... that's all property of the Cuban government. FYI - The trident was a late addition to the story; it's there to keep the promise I made @drpaladin about featuring a trident in a response to a comment in Inked. Five years after discovering the coin, Owen winds up wearing it around his neck. (see Flying Circus)

With the recent stories being so much about politics and CJ's plans to run for office, I try to keep each chapter from being all talk. Mixing in place, food, character, and action descriptions hopefully keeps it all from being too dry.

Owen's the only blond in the crowd. If this was a porn story, the other 4 would run a train on him. LOL Glad you enjoyed the visuals.

I thought it was a good twist. Fun to write and hopefully read, it helps me set the stage for future developments. I've written a bunch of scuba diving scenes and try to vary them all a little but that feeling of peace a diver gets when floating underwater's the common thread. This time, I pumped them full of adrenaline at the end.

Yep... even when the purpose of the dive was lobstering, I always looked around... just in case.

Have you tried reading slower? LOL Although hearing it too much can be a pain, readers wanting more as the end nears is a nice compliment. I'm always happy when my audience connects with my characters and what they say and do.

Go check out the CJ forum thread for a picture of Camilo, CJ hasn't forgotten he's dealing with a totalitarian regime, won't stop pushing for reforms, but is realistic enough to work with the Cubans in areas they can agree on. And yes, there'll be a new round of publicity in connection with the treasure.

As I said above, fists aren't needed to create excitement. Neither is mayhem. A simple scuba diving experience can be as much fun as Owen beating Jay up. LOL You're very right about the reactions from movers and shakers. If Cuba's president was infatuated with CJ before, the discovery will aggravate the situation.

Think back at the stories covering the summer of 2022 so far. They have all been populated with interesting characters (some new) who'll play a part in CJ's plans.

Jay tries to get CJ in trouble in the next chapter. This chapter proves we can have an exciting CJ installment without him beating anyone up. LOL

LMAO - Did Indy ever go for underwater treasure? I don't think he did. Maybe we can equate CJ to Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt.

Owen turned his back to the window to look at the vehicle’s driver. “Did you know that the other day, when Dr. West complained about President Díaz-Canel knowing who CJ was, my dear husband joked maybe the man was a fan? Imagine my surprise last night when CJ recounted his conversation with you, and I found out that was actually the case.” CJ shrugged when a smiling Camilo glanced at him in the rearview mirror. The Cuban officer had been punctual, picking them up at five in front of their h

This story overlaps with several others and there are places where the same event is described from a different perspective. When the stories were first published, many of the events were being described for the first time.

I wrote this scene first, then changed the point of view to CJ and expanded it in CDMX.

Parliament House's no more. The owners had financial difficulties for years and the pandemic finally killed the place. Last time I was in Orlando, in May 2021, I stopped by the location to say goodbye. All the good raunchy gay places keep closing!

Nope, I'll put CJ and Owen through a lot of things, but I've tried to keep the fantasy world out of it. The closest those two will come to lycans is reading @WolfM's stories.
