The phone call at 3am one reminds me of one I got a few years ago...
My brother was in holiday in Japan, with another friend who didn't know the country. One night I received a call from my brother in the middle of the night. We never call each other, either on holiday or in our daily life. We only communicate by texts. Phonecalls are for emergencies. So getting one at 3am when he's on the other side of the planet... I jumped in bed and stared at my phone, shocked. When I picked up he started to talk but there were noises in the background and his words were cut. All I got was "papers", "card", "money", "quick" and then nothing! My heart was pounding. Was he in troubles?? In my mind I was already putting on my big sister cloak and getting on a plane for Tokyo to save him (I don't even have a passport so no idea how I would have done that ).
A couple of minutes later I received a text with the procedure to follow. Turned out he had reached his payments by cards limit allowed aboard and couldn't have cash from an ATM either and he was downtown and needed to take the last subway of the night to go back to his apartment... So he needed me to get to our mom's phone (his bank account security was link to our mom phone number) to validate the authorization to rise the amount of cash used and the payment by card limits. All I got after all that a thumb up emoji. Brothers...
