Canada House, Trafalgar Square, United Kingdom The morning light, usually a welcome flood into Will Carter’s expansive office at Canada House, felt harsh, intrusive. He sat stiffly behind his polished desk, a mug of cold coffee forgotten beside a stack of diplomatic cables. Across from him, Lisa, held her tablet, its screen glowing with the stark, undeniable image of their current nightmare. It was Jacob. Small, impossibly frail, nestled amidst the tangle of tubes and wires that had becom

Yep, I will get them all on here before too long. I don't know when I can get to book six, but if it counts I am considering it.

Ahh the next chapter. Ramsey takes Sepphie to school on the short bus. Man I forgot how much I loved the 242nd light horse.

HMS Excalibur - Yeji-Sola System Darien opened his eyes, feeling the warm padding of the Excalibur's command chair pressing against his back, embracing the sudden confusion and rush of elation as the Excalibur realized he was home. Forward, deep in a conversation with Masconi, Commander Durnham spun, a look of genuine surprise on his face as he stared at the Skipper sitting bruised and battered, shirt still torn, a flat black stone resting on his knees, looking about himself at his cre

Portland Hospital, London, United Kingdom The digital glow of the bedside monitors painted Jacob's pale face in a ghostly green. Will sat hunched in the armchair, utterly still, a silent sentinel in the hushed intensity of the ICU. His hand rested lightly on Jacob's, feeling the faint warmth that was, for now, enough. He hadn't moved from the chair, unwilling to cede a single moment of vigil. Andrew wasn't there yet, the long hours stretching into an unbearable eternity, and Will carried the w

Polian Gunship, Ze-Fuye System The jump drive controls proved elusive as power fluctuated through the alien systems as the self repair systems continued to work. Slowly the ship recovered from its ordeal at the Lex's hands. Lauren rubbed her hands, sitting in the awkward control chair, her hand perched on the controls, stroking them to guide the ship, the outriggers adjusted as the gravitic drive pulled the nimble ship around by its own mass. The ship stalked in the wake of the ominous

Suddenly very much on Team Celica for Lex. Yep, someone needs to explain the physics of navigating that back seat... and I think Lex has discovered the wonderful TARDIS magic- 48 comments

Crazy Stuff That Jeff Says
Topher Lydon replied to Jeff Burton's topic in Random Thoughts and Statuses
I've been thinking of your 12 chapter hump problem. I *might* have a suggestion. Write a three act story. Which is just three stories in a row. Keep them to 12 chapters each. Act one set up and set the relationship etc. Act two evolve the problems, and Act 3 is conclusion to the three stories tying them together. You don't even need to have the same characters in all three acts, though it helps if they are connected be it setting, supporting characters, or even flipping perspectives. Just a random Idea, I've been thinking on it as I worry I head through the same problem so adapted this format to my own work. -
I have been reminded by my person, that us favourite Pet Writers get a bit squirrelly and feral when on a writing binge. I've been instructed to take a break for a few hours, eat, and what not to take care of myself. So, I appreciate all the long suffering patience of the people in my life who put up with my moments (sometimes weeks) of utter unhinged insanity, talking to myself, and battering of keys on a mechanical keyboard at all hours of the day... I had him up at 5:30 this morning when I began my writing day with a mad glee of explosions, rushing water, and Russians... I have been supplied with Coffee, and disapproving glares of my early hour manic behaviour. So if you have a pet Writer, go hug them, because they are grateful for every long suffering moment you go through.

HMS Acheron, en-route: North Sea Testing Area The world outside ceased to exist, replaced by the hushed, consistent symphony of the HMS Acheron. The submarine glided through the cold, dark embrace of the Atlantic as it rounded the north of Scotland, a leviathan of steel and silence, its nuclear reactor providing an endless, barely perceptible thrum that became the heartbeat of everything. Onboard, time was marked not by sunlight, but by watch changes, by the rhythmic cadence of the ship's s

True, true, if they bothered to get our ID. Things tended to be a bit lax in Halisham at that era.

Some people can never shake who they really are, even under natural charisma and charm. Arrogance personified in every action, deed and word.

We all fall down, and we all need to take a walk in the rain a little lost. But I am here, writing, and finding myself again.

First book I ever published, and a very raw examination of my world back then.
