  1. Portland Hospital, London, United Kingdom The digital glow of the bedside monitors painted Jacob's pale face in a ghostly green. Will sat hunched in the armchair, utterly still, a silent sentinel in the hushed intensity of the ICU. His hand rested lightly on Jacob's, feeling the faint warmth that was, for now, enough. He hadn't moved from the chair, unwilling to cede a single moment of vigil. Andrew wasn't there yet, the long hours stretching into an unbearable eternity, and Will carried the w

    Chapter 13

So I was an idiot and posted the wrong chapter yesterday. So, um... go back, enjoy that one... and um... sorry?
  4. Polian Gunship, Ze-Fuye System The jump drive controls proved elusive as power fluctuated through the alien systems as the self repair systems continued to work. Slowly the ship recovered from its ordeal at the Lex's hands. Lauren rubbed her hands, sitting in the awkward control chair, her hand perched on the controls, stroking them to guide the ship, the outriggers adjusted as the gravitic drive pulled the nimble ship around by its own mass. The ship stalked in the wake of the ominous

    Chapter 9

Reminds me of the government laptops and the MI5 one that got left on a bus or something around this time as well.
  6. Suddenly very much on Team Celica for Lex. Yep, someone needs to explain the physics of navigating that back seat... and I think Lex has discovered the wonderful TARDIS magic
  7. I know... I could almost smell the chlorine, Celica's and eye drops....
  8. Oh man, this is gonna get goooooood I have popcorn, I have expectations, and I have hopes that TEAM RYAN's gonna get a win soon. (boo Team Gabe, Boooo)
  9. I've been thinking of your 12 chapter hump problem. I *might* have a suggestion. Write a three act story. Which is just three stories in a row. Keep them to 12 chapters each. Act one set up and set the relationship etc. Act two evolve the problems, and Act 3 is conclusion to the three stories tying them together. You don't even need to have the same characters in all three acts, though it helps if they are connected be it setting, supporting characters, or even flipping perspectives. Just a random Idea, I've been thinking on it as I worry I head through the same problem so adapted this format to my own work.
  10. I have been reminded by my person, that us favourite Pet Writers get a bit squirrelly and feral when on a writing binge. I've been instructed to take a break for a few hours, eat, and what not to take care of myself. So, I appreciate all the long suffering patience of the people in my life who put up with my moments (sometimes weeks) of utter unhinged insanity, talking to myself, and battering of keys on a mechanical keyboard at all hours of the day... I had him up at 5:30 this morning when I began my writing day with a mad glee of explosions, rushing water, and Russians... I have been supplied with Coffee, and disapproving glares of my early hour manic behaviour. So if you have a pet Writer, go hug them, because they are grateful for every long suffering moment you go through.

    Chapter 14

    Karate chop action.
  12. HMS Acheron, en-route: North Sea Testing Area The world outside ceased to exist, replaced by the hushed, consistent symphony of the HMS Acheron. The submarine glided through the cold, dark embrace of the Atlantic as it rounded the north of Scotland, a leviathan of steel and silence, its nuclear reactor providing an endless, barely perceptible thrum that became the heartbeat of everything. Onboard, time was marked not by sunlight, but by watch changes, by the rhythmic cadence of the ship's s

    Chapter 4

True, true, if they bothered to get our ID. Things tended to be a bit lax in Halisham at that era.

    Chapter 24

Some people can never shake who they really are, even under natural charisma and charm. Arrogance personified in every action, deed and word.

    Chapter 26

We all fall down, and we all need to take a walk in the rain a little lost. But I am here, writing, and finding myself again.

    Chapter 25

First book I ever published, and a very raw examination of my world back then.

    Chapter 12

This was a good one to write, I remember. The focus was mainly on James, again a strong fan favourite and someone I really enjoyed writing. I just wanted to avoid a Mary-sue situation with him. So I thought long and hard on it, and realized I needed to show that James does what he does because he trains, un relenting unforgiving and quite punishing amounts of it. And in so doing it humanized him. He's Darien's quiet, and unassuming shadow, the one who protects and projects Darien's will now that Darien can no longer do it himself. That, and we all love the scruffy loyal boys.
  20. Lex Talionis - Yeji-Sola System They were running, the small Polian Gunship pushing its engines to maximum as it dipped and weaved its way through the system, its crew desperate to get their precious cargo to Sanctuary where the Synod had retreated to. Their Far-Step Hyperdrive was nearly fully charged and would be able to catapult them the vast distance, all they had to do was evade their pursuer long enough... The floating ice particles shivered and shattered, carved to piec

    Chapter 13

The paparazzi here in England are like wolves. They pay hosptial workers for good tips, and something like a High Commissioner's son going in under an emergency situation would be blood in the water to them. Then add to that the rather high profile Motorcade, and they will be all over it in a frenzy, these photographs fetch high prices in the British Tabloids... the same Tabloids that use illegal wire taps, chased Diana to her death in Paris, and destroy lives of anyone they think their readers want to know about. Give them a slow enough news day, and they'd be desperate to feast on suffering like this. I despise the Tabloids for this.

    Chapter 7

Well, to be honest, I didn't think it needed to be said. It was the Very first book I ever wrote, over twenty years ago.

    Chapter 13

Very emotional to write, TBH. I've been there, through exactly this kind of situation. Nothing is more terrifying for a person, it reduces even the most stalwart among us, to panic. There was a scene I wrote for the next chapter of Andrew's reaction directly. It is Visceral but simply doesn't fit with the narrative and flow of the book so I can't include it, but having written it, I can use it to influence Andrew's movements and reactions. Will is predictable in this kind of moment, but Andrew... the only time Andrew gets truly volatile is when someone or something threatens his family. This is, all, of course set up for later.
