CHAPTER TWENTY : COYOTE FALLS The jet was a vault of quiet tension, humming forty-five thousand feet above the scarred green hide of Northern Ontario. Inside, the air was cool, scrubbed, and carried the faint, expensive scent of lemon peel and regret. Enrico Alvarez watched the ice melt in his sparkling water, a crystalline clock counting down the seconds until he could be rid of his passenger. His passenger, his charge, his most persistent mistake. Ned Sanderson slouched in

Well Orel is a little more.. um... out there than most of my characters. So forgive him a little Whimsy, he's been through a lot. As for intelligent teens, most of these characters are into their early twenties. or VERY late teens. Orel is 17, Kyle is around 20 as is Garrett, Finn is 17/18 at this point. of them only Orel is written as above average intelligence. Lydia is an exception, but if you know her brother, you will see why that is the case. She is an exception. Oliver is into his twenties, same age as Tabby, and Alvin I believe is a little older. Indulgent parents, in this story only Jenny-Lynn has appeared as a parent, so not sure where that is from. Tarquin is hardly a parental figure, and not at all indulgent nor particularly bemused. So again, not sure where that one comes from. Wait I forgot Joey, he might seem bemused and indulgent, but he is "Modern, Kyle" but again Kyle isn't a kid, he is well above being considered and adult in the eyes of Canada, as is Garrett. :: shrugs :: so it's not so much indulgent as respecting that his son is an adult.

Capt. vs Goofball There is a running theory that Andrew and Clovis dealt with Jason (pastor) Jensen's abusive neo-nazi father in a way that ensured that he would never abuse little boys again. I imply but do not confirm this theory, just that Old Man Jensen never appears again after what he did to Jason. Since Tarquin is cut from the same cloth as old man Jensen, there is a feeling from fans that Andrew and Clovis (Clovis being Finn's direct Uncle) should (if they find out what Tarquin has done) deal with Tarquin. Andrew Carter (ne Highmore) is a CSIS agent in the main series, and rather well known for his unforgiving and very terminal nature when it comes to people that threaten his family. If you want to get a good grasp of him, read Carter's Breach, it is a very VERY good launching off point for those books.

Initial shock and pain will give way. It's a combination I think of two people Oliver cares about choosing each other rather than him. Stings but he will come around. Oliver is not evil, he just needs a head check

Garret has had an aversion to Steve's out of principle. That place is right in the middle of town, it'd be shining a spot light right on his relationships... I mean can you imagine the gossip "Garrett at Steve's with BOTH Finn and Kyle?" "didn't they try to kill each other with sticks in the Tim Horton's parking lot three months ago?" "Yeah, and Orel Merrick, the reclusive Merrick brother is with them in AXL FRASER's clothes!" Sunday morning service with poor Pastor Jensen is going to be JUICY

Well Jared is now, very invested in turning Chad's life inside out. And it's kind of in all of Team KoN's best interests to destroy Wexler, as he is one of the key fund raisers for a certain Floridian. So I might just write something to give us all a bit of catharsis of seeing a very douchey, bad man get his... One Madam Xue special coming up.
-
I don't see them riding off into the sunset together... but I think Jared has always been the sweet yet painfully single best friend. And Caleb needs that kind of kindness that Jared has always put out. Besides if there's one guy who is going to punch Chad Wexler, I'd want it to be Jared. Dude's already shown he isn't afraid to punch rich wankers in defense of his friends.

Oh Gods, what is it with the crass ones who turn out to be the wildest kissers? my bad luck was always with Andrews. Just read Ottawa tales to go down that road of Andrew shaped disaster.

I think Finn doesn't really care, Garrett is still thinking this is some weird cult fetish thing, and Kyle's mind is definitely on the food. (Our Kyle is kind of a one track mind when it comes to food) I've written the next chapter a while ago, but part of me really wants to rework it... the urge to integrate @drpaladin 's waiter is strong...

I do like the declaration of the Pizza boy uniform too : "Hi, I intend to initiate a Sausage delivery protocol later, and have worn the uniform, so be prepared!" Switching tracks, Tabby is probably the ONLY one that can get through to Oliver about what he needs to do. Ollie respects Tabby a great deal, takes BALLS to do what Tabby did. It's what Oliver has always dreamed he could do. Plus I just love Tabby's philosophy, fuck it, it's not worth it.

"Thank you, that would be hydro-statically efficient," He stares at his plate. "I will be tipping well for this service, I am told the correct tip is twenty percent, but your service is very compelling, perhaps fifty percent? If the straw arrives in a temporally sufficient window? And please tell your manager that you are very kind. I was expecting a scary waiter." Glances at Finn. "I approve of the wait staff here, they selected the quietest corner, nearest to the food delivery, and provide straws... This is exceptional, as if they knew my requirements in advance!"

We knew it was coming, things were starting to go well... and that's when Finn goes sideways, he can't accept when things are too.... good. He starts looking for the hidden cost. This is why Orel was better for Finn than Oliver... Oliver, while a kind soul, can't do what Orel does for Finn. It would end up being Garrett 2.0, a fight that would give Finn an excuse to run away again. The good thing is that Garrett is there, he KNOWS Finn. Our grudging best friend is ready to catch Finn (even if he doesn't really know it yet himself). I hope the evolution of the characters goes a long way to explaining my choices when it comes to Finn. I as just staring at the broken boy and trying to figure out what and who would work best for him. Ollie can't even fix himself, where as Orel doesn't need fixing, and loves Finn BECAUSE he's Finn, not inspite of it.

Chapter Sixteen: The Compost of Kings Instead of turning the heavy, German-engineered wheel of his sedan toward the looming iron gates of the Merrick estate, Oliver kept driving. His hands were trembling. It was a subtle thing, a fine vibration in the tendons that traveled up his wrists and settled as a cold, hard knot at the base of his neck. He had spent the last hour listening to Tarquin scream into a phone receiver about assets, liquidity, and "ungrateful plebeians," a perfor

Tarquin, I fear, has a new plan.

HAH, I would say "Poor Peter" But he kind of had this coming, he was getting a little too bossy with West. And I have, as I stated, written quite a bit about Peter and Jason over the past few months behind the scenes (I'll share it later this year, it's quite a fun little tale about our little ball of vibrating anger, and our favorite baptist Boy's Dad.)
-
It was a way to integrate faster, a clause they never saw/realized would bite them like this. "he" wanted a State, the 51st State, big and beautiful. "He" probably thoughts the Article Four subject was a rapid way to solving all of "his" problems about integration (subjugation). It opened so many doors, the constitutional challenges, the protections therein.

They really have no options: Do nothing and lose everything, or back Will and keep what's yours.
-
I just really wanted to turn the tables on Peter, he was getting a little too big for his slippers. Had to remind people that West (who surprisingly has NO IDEA what Peter's middle name is) can keep his husband in line. Besides I am idly writing something regarding the lost Peter/Andrew years in Ottawa post Carter's Shadow/Duty, and things happened. So had to establish it here. Team Leftovers for the win! (Andrew, Peter, Jason and Bobby kicking butt)

Well now, that was fun. Tomorrow: COYOTE FALLS!
