Neither do I, however at the time this was written things were more problematic. What we know now as unacceptable needs to be looked at through the lens of 2001 when this was set. We've come a long LONG way in defining what is and isn't okay. So yes, it's difficult. This book is old now and there are many parts I wish I could change but that's George Lucasing things..

Yep the first Coyote Book is dec 2025, the second is early spring 2026, the third will be Summer 2026 Alex is 16 at the start of that series. Brian is a year and a half older.

It's also a plot point: Denton did not order this done. The next chapter goes into it. It is... a bad event for every side in this because it brings someone's attention that no one wants to the conflict.

They are pushing Andrew to the Thin Ice, and Andrew is a fighter by nature. Give him no other option and we know he does what must be done. Andrew is finding that the Law, justice, and security are not the same thing. It's a gutting lesson for him. He was sanctimonious in Carter's Duty, lecturing Will on the letter of the law, he's learning how wrong he was.

It's going to take time, and care for him to get past it. Will will keep him safe for now, Denton has no hope of finding Jason in the city. He's safe as long as he stays there.
