It strips Dyson down two more men. Leaving him with two. (two arrested, one dealt with by Ben, the other (matty) now firmly in Kier's corner) Caff, we know isn't reliable for Dyson. So that leaves one, odds are now squarely against Dyson. (as Enrico would say Lobito is now a pomeranian)

fascinating, I am going to read up, it might actually go a long way to solving an issue I have with trying to figure out Kier's pathology. As I stated he's the difficult one with all of this, Ben I understand. Riley I get (I've been Riley at points). Lee I've been at others. But Kieran's an enigma, and as a writer, that both confounds me and interests me at the same time. How am I doing with this story so far? Is it working, is the question. It's again, a departure from my norm, and I am always curious to see how my experimental writing lands with people.

There's something off with him. But yes he's got choices to make, I think Ben very much hopes Kier is. I will confess I am 11 chapters in to a sequel to this. I understand the characters a lot better now, but even I can't say what Kier is... Kieran that's a different matter, but Kier now there's an odd creature forged from Ben's will.

There is something destructive in this "relationship" Again, how much of it is Kier projecting his desires onto Ben is always a question. A burgeoning Sociopath in Training, and his mentor-monster. They are heading for a collision that much is obvious. 20 chapters in this one.

Also we now know what Ben wants, why he's doing it.

Kier's is using them, and then drawing them in too close for Ben's liking. They're now living in Kier's flat, a messy pile of boys. That's the wrong kind of attention getting. And from Ben's perspective, these are boys who buckled to Kier when he showed authority over them, what'll happen when Miller brings 'em in? Or Dyson decides he wants what Matty knows?

This book celebrated it's 20th Anniversary in print just a few weeks ago. I wrote this while working for the Government of Canada, back in my Civil Servant days. I was a robust twenty something, with a smile and a rather long run of Hockey players. Ottawa Tales talks about what brought me to writing this one. It was not the first one published here, that was The Falcon Banner, but I think this one got added five years later in 2010.

from my perspective, I find Riley the more interesting character, at this point in the story. I can't explain why, maybe it's the energy he puts out. Or maybe it's the vibe.
