writing Danger: Inclusive Messaging Ahead
Comicality commented on Thorn Wilde's blog entry in The Fantastic Mr. Wilde
I wanted to give some brief thoughts on the topic, as it's something that I've spent years dealing with in one way or another. I've been writing a TON of new writer advice topics to post here on GA (I'm at about ten or twelve right now, but I'm aiming at about 25 or 30), and one of those topics deals with writer diversity. I'm not exactly sure when this became such a 'hot topic', and I can't say that I really understand it, but it's something that I felt needed to be put into perspective, as there's a way to do it, and a way NOT to do it. It's all a matter of finesse when it comes to your talents as an author, I think. But it's nothing to be forced, or to feel assaulted by. I think both sides can take an extreme position on the idea, and it just isn't necessary. There's no 'argument' to be had. Either you like it or you don't? Like I've always said, I find it hard to believe that people can't find EXACTLY what they want to find and avoid what they don't on the vast landscape of the entire internet. So...why are we fighting about this? You know? Life is life and truth is truth...whether it makes us uncomfortable or not. But that's ok. We have enough space on this planet to coexist. So where is the problem. I'm willing to talk about stuff like this without judgement. And I can be passionate about my opinions, but if I feel the conversation going a different way and getting heated...I'll tap out. "Let's just agree to disagree." What do we have to win? You know? I'd be bored SILLY if everybody thought the same way that I did! Challenge me. I'll challenge you. And if we end on a stalemate, then so be it. We'll go out later and have a beer anyway. Anyway, I haven't sent in any of my writing advice topics yet, but if anybody here wants an early glimpse at the "Character Diversity" article that I wrote, you can email me at Comicality@shackoutback.net and I'll send you an early copy of it. Get an HTML converter or something online, as it includes some youtube videos and the like. But it talks about some dos and don'ts about adding a variety of characters to your stories, not overdoing it or making an 'agenda' out of it all, and how character diversity has ALWAYS been a part of fiction, long before it was labeled as a hot button topic or a political discussion. Men, women, straight, gay, black, white, trans, teens, adults, blind, deaf, handicapped, Latino, rich, working class, effeminate, in the closet, out of the closet...I've written about them all. And it can be done without pushing the narrative to make an aggressive point, or agitating people to feel like their being assaulted by the idea. It's just a matter of us understanding that all of reality doesn't have to follow our personal rules or stay in our comfort zone. And a matter of us, as writers, realizing that some people can be triggered by certain ideas...but that's not our fault. nor is it our responsibility. We think differently. I mean...when did that stop being ok? ::Shrugs:: Anyway, I have Monday off. Email me if you want the article. You can have it. -
I've got a busy weekend ahead of me, and I'm seriously 'crashing' at the moment. But I'm going to do what I can to get through this weekend on the site and finish out the month. And then I'm going to take a little break. It WON'T be long, though! Promise! Hehehe! I've still got soooo many more goodies to give you guys. I just need to let my hands and fingers rest for a while to keep them from cramping up on me. Have you ever experienced a hardcore cramp in the center of both of your palms??? That shit is EXCRUCIATINGLY painful! Hehehe! Plus, my pinky and ring fingers are going numb on a daily basis from a form of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, so I need to relax for a bit and work that out. But expect more this weekend, starting tomorrow, while I finish my edits and stuff. I tossed out 16 new chapters and a new issue of Imagine Magazine in 28 days, and I was actually hoping for more. But, you know...life. ::Shrugs:: Either way, there's plenty of stuff to read while I repair whatever damage I've done to myself lately. Hehehe! I will see you soon. Thanks for being understanding. Coming up next, one of the final chapters of "A Class By Himself" gets posted. (Yep...the party's almost over on that one. Hehehe!) And ebooks will be released in the next few weeks as well. For everybody who has purchased some of the ebooks over the years, or donated to the Paypal account, thank you soooo much for helping to make all of this possible! I can only hope that I can give enough back to make it worth your while. ((Hugz)) from the heart! Seezya soon.

SWEET!!! It's official for Ruel now! XD

::Tackles Ruel:: Sighhh...his eyes are so pretty...just like the rest of him! -
Hehehe, well actually, (Spoiler alert) all three children are actually big part of the GFD storyline later on. As adults, and crossed over. Natpea shows up in numerous stories, including "Gone From Daylight" itself as Soren's right hand man, and even has a brutal showdown with Justin himself at one point. Kenshiro appears in the story (Only briefly so far, but more often in future chapters) in the story "GFD: Blood Money", and Katrina shows up as a main character in the story "Lost In Shadow". And are all consider crime family royalty, as promised. I'll go into it briefly for sure, but this is only meant to be three or four chapters long, tops. So probably not in great detail. But more to come soon. Thanks you guys! I'm glad you liked it so far! ((Hugz))

It's good! Surprisingly good, in fact. I was impressed. -
You've gotta be CAREFUL, Circus Boy! Geez! You can't just nuzzle a couple of hoola hoops against your 'boy nuggets' and not expect to break your wrist and shoulder, dude! 😮 Ah well...here's to a quick recovery. (Signs pink cast) And STOP that! You're gonna hurt yourself! Hehehe!

A brand new addition to the vampire saga joins the "30 Days Of Night" updates tonight! This one is called "Sins Of The Father", and this is just the first chapter! So dive in and let me know what you think! K? There is still more to come, so look for it soon! ((Hugz)) Take care! https://gayauthors.org/story/comicality/gfd-sins-of-the-father/

"GFD: Sins Of The Father" I have been watching him. It's been nearly ten minutes now, and he hasn't spoken a single word. Hasn't given off any silent nods or signals. He couldn't have known that I was in the same room with him, but I remained hidden in the shadows for a few minutes more, fangs lowered all the way, katana blade over my right shoulder, 'ready'...just in case. Looking at Takeshi Ogata now...he seemed so weathered. So torn. Time and stress has not been good to

The year is 1987, and an aging Tokyo crime boss with a shady past has called on a very old friend for help with what he believes to be a dire situation. There is only one hope for the future in his mind, and the sharing of this secret comes at a heavy price. But is he preventing an apocalyptic clash between the humans who walk in daylight and the vampires who live in darkness? Or is he igniting a conflict that will ultimately end in the anihilation of both? Can this close vampire contact from his past save that which he values most?

A brand new chapter of the "Shelter" series is up today! I hope you guys have some fun with it! I also just recently got word that the link to the chapter was broken in February's issue of Imagine Magazine! So thanks to 'Mick' for the heads up, and we'll try to fix that some time soon! ((HUGZ)) Anyway, enjoy the new chapter! And I'll seezya soon with even more! https://gayauthors.org/story/comicality/shelter/

Chapter 19: "Oh, So Hungry" Preston ran away as fast as he could from the closet that Alex and I were ummm...pleasuring ourselves in. But he was still in the same room, and once Alex hustled to pull his pants back up, we both sort of wandered out into the open, blushing heavily as all three of us fought to keep from looking each other in the eye. Preston was sort of sitting way over in a dark corner somewhere, trying to catch his breath as Alex and I walked over to talk to him. "Ge

"Jesse-101" Online Celebrity Chapter Thirty One: "Giggles And Candy" I kept checking back over the next few hours to see the numbers on Jesse's Youtube Channel. I don't know why I had suddenly become so obsessed with something as trivial as subscriber numbers...but I couldn't help but to wonder what kind of effect Jimmy's big announcement had on Jesse's account. Would it be a little increase in traffic? Would it be this MASSIVE rush of brand new fans? Who's to say, you know?

This is strangely satisfying...in a sort of sadistic way, I suppose! Hahaha! It's a good thing that babies don't have the words to actually swear at a jack-in-the-box! LOL! Because, look at most of their reactions! It's like..."Da FUQ???" They want to swear, but they haven't learned that yet! Hilarious!

More "30 Days Of Night" is coming your way tonight! This was a story that I wrote into the GFD lore a while back, and it features a few of our real life teen Shackers as the main characters! Hehehe, something that they were really excited about as fans of the series! It is tied into a number of "GFD" spinoffs, as well as the main story itself...but, as to how...well, all of that will be revealed in time! Anyway, Chapter three is up tonight! So have fun! And let me know what you think when you get a chance! Also, I forgot to add this story to the "GFD: Worlds" section before. I don't know how I missed that, but it's corrected now! Cool? https://gayauthors.org/story/comicality/gfd-high-jinx/ More to come!

"GFD: High Jinx" Chapter Three - The Intel It's not as though the team wasn't disappointed to come home, pretty much, empty handed after they had put in so much time and effort towards successfully getting inside a heavily guarded warehouse, and was still able to skillfully improvise their way around a multitude of unforeseen obstacles along the way. Because they definitely were. In fact, plans were already being made for what to do with the money once they were able to unload the dia

His vocal control keeps getting better...
Comicality replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
Hehehe, it's beginning already. What was my prediction? Did I say six months? June/July? I'm moving it up. I'll say, end of April! Keep your eyes open, folks! I'm rarely wrong about these things... -
Ok...soooo... Just so ya know, there is a new 'Clubhouse' forum with all of the posts and all that existed on this forum just a few hours ago. Hehehe! I'm constantly trying my HARDEST to keep up with constant changes online, but I often get blindsided by stuff when I don't really have time to study and fiure out what's going on! So I'll try to force myself to put in some extra time this week and figure out how everything works and learn it all over again from scratch. Sighhh...bear with me, k? I'm stretched pretty thin as it is, so stuff like this REALLY throws me off balance! Anyway, a brand new chapter of "My Only Escape" was just posted on the site. Ummm...I think. I hope. I think that part is still working like it always does. So, go check it out, and let me know what you think! I'll get you guys a new link as soon as I can. Cool? https://gayauthors.org/story/comicality/myonlyescape/ Also...the "My Only Escape" ebook series is coming SOON! T/he whole series, told in its entirety! Don't miss out! It'll be in the Comicality ebook section!

"My Only Escape 32" "So...I mean, what do we do from here?" Adam asked, a little aggravated about the fact that I was here asking him for help, but had basically cut off half of the tools he had to work with in order to do so. I mean, I really DID want help! I just...I can't do certain things. And I can't tell him certain things. And I can't...ugh! I don't know what I want, or how to go about it. I'm, just sort of sinking in emotional quicksand right now, and even though he's trying to

Imagine Magazine Question For 2/15
Comicality replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
<p> To reply to this, I want to start off with a short experience that I had growing up. My best friend, Mike, and I have been buds since we were 14 years old. And I was CRAZY about him! Oh God, I had it so bad. Hehehe! Looking back on it, I must have looked so crazy to him at times. However, I didn't say anything. I was way too scared. And we would hang out all the time, and we were so close, and had so much in common...but as far as me being head over heels for him for years, it was just sort of understood (in my mind at least) that i was just going to have to suck it up and remain a tortured soul for the rest of my life. Sad, but true. Then...came Mike's 21st birthday. Now we were only born a week and a half apart, and he actually waited for me to catch up so I could come visit him in college and we could celebrate together. And BOY did we celebrate! Ahem...the alcohol was pouring pretty freely that night! Hahaha! Here's the thing...anybody getting sick and throwing up...NOPE! Couldn't do it! I will run screaming from that sort of thing. Can't stand it. Blecchhh! But that night? Mike got really sick. Multiple times. And while most of his college friends were cringing pretty much the same way that I usually did...I went into the bathroom to check on him. And something that normally would have had me turning tail and heading for the hills, it just didn't mean more to me than he did at that moment. And I stood right there with him. Even rubbing his back to keep him somewhat comfortable through it all. I had to practically 'carry' him home and put him to bed that night, but it just made me think about things differently. I'm sure that it started out with me thinking he was super cute, and later it turned into a serious crush, and then we started hanging out together and laughing and sharing a lot of good times together...and things got worse. But, the honest truth is...I don't think I realized just how much I loved him until I was willing to push aside my own comfort and best interests just to make sure he was ok. I thought back to sleepovers and times when we went to the movies and times when we laughed until our bellies hurt...and things just kind of 'clicked' from there. I really was in love. And to this day, Mike is still one of my very best friends. And I'd still do anything for him and vice versa. We're there for one another, we tell each other off when we think the other person needs to hear it, and there's no such thing as a 'favor' when it comes to asking for help. You want it, you've got it. Just give me some time to put it together. I think that's the test when it comes to love. I think that's how you know. When you're more concerned with what you're willing to do for them, instead of worrying about what they're doing for you. Sex is GREAT! And beauty is exciting. Common interests and deep conversations are truly satisfying. But when you can actually trust someone to be there for you when you fall, when you know that you'll move heaven and earth to keep them safe, when you can lose a bunch of your secrets and gain a confidant...that's when you know that true love is possible. Not obsession, but love. I've made some mistakes in my past, and thought that I was in love when I wasn't. But I can say that I've truly had some mind-blowing experiences that let me know what true love feels like. You know? It's not as common as we may make it out to be. But I've had a few people that I was willing to give my whole heart to, and I made sure to tell them as often as I possibly could, just to let them know. What can I say, I'll always be a big romantic at heart. Hehehe! But I make no apologies for it. I'm proud to have lived through those moments, and going to bed with a smile at night, just knowing that I could share my true self with those who left me so breathless. That love never went away. Some of the objects of my affection have moved on, and I wish them well. But the love is still there. I hold on to it, and it makes me feel good to know I gave it my all when I had the chance. That, to me, is how you know when it's love. When you're willing to give yourself to them to the point of exhaustion...and have faith in knowing that you'll get it back. It makes you fearless in a way, you know? When I love you...I'll let you know. Believe me. I mean, I mighthave to shake out those nervous jitters first, hehehe...but if I tell you I love you, it's real. It's not something I take lightly. not anymore. -
Love. It can be wild and it can be sudden and it can truly overwhelm you, no matter your age. It's just an amazing feeling to love and be loved by another person. It's like an overdose of candy, and I wish everybody could feel like that every second of every day! How awesome would that be? But...we've all been young once. We've all been taken hostage by the love bug. And we've probably made a few mistakes along the way. Nothing to be ashamed of. It happens. The question, this time around, is...how do you 'KNOW' when what you're feeling is really love? I mean...how do you know that it's not just a heavy infatuation? Maybe he's extremely HOT. Maybe you like his body, or his sex appeal, or his sense of humor. Maybe you share some common interests and a few passions that create a bond between you. And, of course, it might just be that you're super horny and attracted to one another. But how do you know when you can call it 'love'? We live in an era where you can easily find companionship if you want to. You can put an app on your phone and swipe right or left to hook up with someone in your area if you really want to. But isn't love the ultimate goal? Someone that you can embrace and be yourself with? Not just sex, not just a pretty face, not just a couple of laughs and a close proximity...but true love. When do you know for sure that what you're feeling is the real thing? If you dive in too early, it might just be a heavy crush that's destined to end in heartbreak. But if you wait too long, then you might be holding back on any type of real commitment...and you might end up missing out on something special. So where is the line? When and how do you know that what you're feeling for the guy or girl you're craving is actual 'love', or something else? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! Of course, you guys can post anonymous answers here on the board, or send them to me at Comicality@shackoutback.net if you want to put in your two cents that way. But yeah, reply down below and let us know what you have to say on this topic! And be honest. There might be someone out there who needs to hear exactly what it is that you have to say! Thanks in advance! And I hope to hear from you soon!
