“I woke up when I heard my mobile ringing, and I sleepily answered it, as I glanced at the clock, which said 10.05am, “Hey cousin, just checking in to see if you are ok, by the sounds of it, I must have woken you up” Seb said to me, “Yes I was asleep, as I am not use to getting up at 5.30am, and travelling for over two hours so early in the morning” I replied. “Ok, I have to go, I’ve got Language classes to teach next, I will come over to make some lunch for you at noon, see you then, bye” Seb s

We ate in silence for a while, before Sebastian began talking again, “The demolition is nearly completed on Ashton Avenue, and when it has, I can start demolition on the three blocks on 2nd Avenue. It will be another few weeks before building can start on Queenslea Drive, so I thought I would get the builders to start of the Ashton Avenue property first, so it is up and operational well before next year’s Royal Show, no point rushing the Queenslea Drive project till we know what to do with the b

“How long this time doctor?” I asked, quite a long time, we were starting to get worried, as we tried to get you to wake up over a week ago, and you have been in a coma for 9 weeks” Mr Jarvis said to me, “Nine weeks, I have been unconscious that long? what is going on, why is this happening to me?” I asked my doctor, “Unfortunately there has been some complications, after we managed to get your temperature under control, we attempted to put the top of your skull back into place, but it became in

I slept a lot and ate very little over the next countless days, flowers and get-well cards, told me that my family and friends had been visiting me, and thinking of me, and when I woke to the sound of no more regular beeping sound, I smiled, as the sound was really getting to annoy me a lot. When I heard a slight sound, I turned my head to see Annette sitting in a chair nearby, and I smiled to her. “I can always rely on you to visit me, whenever I am in hospital, thanks for doing that” I s

“Yes, I had actually, thanks for the reminder. The men who delivered the furniture, were able to unpack the truck and put everything into place, very quickly, and our guests arrived right in the middle of the unpacking. Once the delivery truck had left, we all headed back to the main house, and relaxed for a while, with the ladies heading to the kitchen to chat and prepare lunch. During lunch, it was decided that Mrs Cooper and Annette would go and do the house shopping for next door, whil

After informing the police officer that the company had owned the block of apartments for just under a month, and that for most of that time I was in Bethesda Hospital, recovering from major brain surgery, I was informed that the investigation into the cause of the fire, had revealed that the fire started from an explosion in one of the units, which was being used as an illegal meth manufacturing lab. The man who was treated for burns, is now under police custody at the main public hospita

While Mrs Cooper was preparing dinner, I went online, to search for an architect that is local to the area, and I found four, and did some research on each one, before choosing a firm that I felt would be best suited, and I dialled the office number. “Dave Barrington” a man said answering the phone, “Is this Barrington and Associates Architecture?” I asked in reply, “Yes, sorry, I wasn’t aware that the phone had not been switched over for the night, I am David Barrington the senior architect, ho

“Well keep me posted on how the operation goes, and I will talk to you in a few days’ time after you have recovered” Sebastian said, “Ok Seb, and say hello to the rascals for me, I will let you go back to sleep now, goodnight” I said before ending the phone call. For the next twenty minutes or so I talked to Annette, cried a bit, and talked some more, before she left to go and collect Kyle from school, and head back home to Toodyay. Annette had informed me that June was getting bored not h

At dinner time at the end of their first week on the island, Anne said that she was finding her new job challenging but rewarding, and although it was difficult at first, things were going well, especially now that new guests had arrived. Quinn said he was also enjoying the work, but he was having some troubles with one staff member who was not liking working for a much younger boss. Quinn said that he had spoken to this worker and given him the choice to change his attitude or go and find a new

Looking at the plans in front of us, I studied them carefully. “Do we really need to expand the guest accommodation that much?” Anne asked. After some thought I replied, “I think maybe just two extras, plus two bungalows to replace the two that we will be occupying, but we will make them two-bedroom bungalows only. All the other planned additions I think we can go ahead with, and maybe add a second giant gazebo between the two groups of guest bungalows as extra shelte

Nearly two months after the wonderful Christmas on board the Ocean Explorer, I had ended back in hospital in Stanley once more, and this time once I was discharged, it was recommended by the doctors, that I no longer do any physical work, due to the occasional headaches that I was getting. Since then, I have not been able to do anything strenuous, and that included any type of farm work and horse riding, which made me get quite upset on occasions, and as a one month ended and a new one sta

Canada was so much colder than back at home where it is now summer time. I didn’t bother to do anything but visit the bathroom before crashing on the bed, falling asleep almost straight away. Less than three hours later, Chris coming through the door to the adjoining room, he was once again shaking me awake, telling me it was time to get showered and ready for dinner. When the three of us arrived at the hotel restaurant, I spotted Declan straight away, recognising him from the photo that Dad has

We chatted for a little while before I excused myself so as to go and round up everyone else for dinner, and we all met up again downstairs in the restaurant where I had booked a table for 11. I had Sam sitting next to me on one side and Lloyd on the other side, and we all chatted and ate through dinner as if we were all old friends. It was good to see everyone was getting along very well. After dinner I took the Parkes brothers along with us and we went to the local casino to enjoy some enterta

“I think you should go, maybe spend Christmas with your dad and his new family, I’m sure they would be thrilled with you being there” Chris said while Daniel was nodding his head in agreement, “I'm sure Daniel and I will be able to cope with you being away for a few weeks or a month, so start planning and don’t worry about anything” Chris added with a big smile. When Chris and Daniel left the office I went online in search of an ideal present for dad. First, I did a search of the town that is cl

I remained there for the remainder of the morning, occasionally looking out the window when someone in the car said they spotted a kangaroo or two bounding past, or a family of emu’s racing long side the train, or a camel or two grazing on the saltbush and taking no notice of the giant mechanical beast of a train that was passing them at high speed. I made my way back to the Gold Class lounge just before lunch was about to be announced. Anne and Elspeth soon appeared and sat next

“It is a big surprise for everyone, including the staff, so don’t say anything. We are leaving on Saturday, so keep it a secret until I announce it to everyone in a few days’ time,” I asked and Lloyd nodded his understanding. For the next half an hour I showed him all the information about where we were going for this trip around Australia. After lunch Lloyd fell asleep on the lounge as Elspeth, Anne and I were talking, getting to know each other, while Kyle and Quinn were outsid

Yes it is fantastic, to get 14 stories back, which is now the majority of the missing stories. One of my editors is looking forward to editing Falsely Accused, which is the story about the house in a limestone cave, on an island in South Australia. One of my favourite stories, that is 39 chapters long.

“Guys, back to work,” I said after we finished laughing, “We need to discuss plans for the next couple of weeks.” “Ok boss,” Daniel answered while Chris stifled he mirth, “What do we need?” “To start, check and repairs on the water runs, plus the boundary fences. Vehicle maintenance, locate and check on the main herd.” “On it boss,” they responded in unison. Over the next few weeks everyone was kept very busy with all the jobs that are required to be done on the station.
