    FAL Chapter 3

I asked what was going to happen with John’s education, and Lionel informed me that he had spoken to a former colleague from London, who had moved to the Swan River Colony ten years earlier, and he said to enquire about enrolling into the Fremantle Boys School. “Oh by the way, when we received your letter, and saw your mention of leaving a note on your emigration medical form, I did some checking, and the doctor that saw you had purposely misfiled your document, and once I had found it, and seen

    FAL Chapter 2

When the last of the patients had been seen, I was cleaning up the treatment room, when Dr Carter arrived expectantly. “Mr Lester, I am informed that you have diagnosed three possible cases of measles, may I see the patients please” he said as soon as he walked in, and I followed him into the hospital room, where the three patients were resting. After checking all three patients, Dr Carter exited the room with me close behind him. “Mr Lester, your diagnosis is spot on, well done on your isol

    FAL Chapter 1

Hi Jeff This is one of my earlier stories, that I thought I had lost for good, but thanks to one of my followers, he had save most of my stories that he read, and he was able to send them to me. The story has recently been re-edited, and although it is only 4 chapters long, it has a lot of information about life of convicts that were transported to the Swan Colony, now known at Perth. The prison mentioned in the story still exists, and was operation for over 145 years till 1991. Preston

    FAL Chapter 1

Life has never been very easy for me, my mother worked as a house maid for a wealthy businessman, and with the assistance from my uncle, I was able to attend a good school in Edinburgh, and I was getting very good grades. I managed to get some part time work on the docks to help Mum out with food and clothes, as our family lived in a basic two-bedroom cottage, about an hour’s walk from the center of the city, and I managed to complete my high school education a year ahead of usual. WSD Chapter 21

Over the next few hours, we drove along the main access track that circles the island, stopping to look at allthe beach alcoves on the way, with discussions on if it was suitable for fishing, snorkelling or swimming, and we finished our journey at the main resort building, located not far from the grass airfield runway. As we entered the restaurant, we were personally greeted by the head waiter, who somehow knew all of our names, and he showed us to a table set for four and handed us a lunch men

    WSD Chapter 20

When they saw me approaching them rapidly, they were quick to reassure me that all is ok, that Lucas had to be transferred to intensive care as he had a nasty chest infection, that needed closer monitoring for the next few days. When I returned to the room, I saw there was a different police officer seated at the door, and he nodded as I approached the room, allowing me to pass. When I walked in I saw Micah starting to wake up, and the first thing he saw was that his twin was not there, an

I gave him the flight details for both parts of the trip, plus the allocated seat numbers for both flights. I was asked follow him to the conference room to take a seat, while he made some enquiries, and I did as he suggested. After an agonising twenty-minute wait, the gentleman returned with two more men following him, and they all sat down, before I was introduced to the two men, AFP – Australian Federal Police Inspector Hawkins, and the Terminal Manager for the Airline that Emm and twin

    WSD Chapter 18

Emm brought me out of the doldrums as he announced that he had arrived in Brisbane safely, and that he had settled into his grandparent’s home, where he was organising plans for that night’s dinner before going to the school to collect the twins at the end of the school day. We spoke by telephone for about an hour every evening after the twins had gone to bed, not only general chat but also about business, as I kept Emm up to date on what was happening at the office, and Emm couldn’t help
  18. As I started to get my bearings I noticed a couple of windows high up in the wall, and from what I could see it was dark outside, with the faint sight of street lighting somewhere nearby, but I couldn’t hear any noise of people, just the distant sounds of traffic. I was guessing that I was in an old warehouse of some kind, and that it was in a remote part of the city, where I couldn’t be heard, so there was no point in screaming for help. I noticed that I was laying on an old mattress, no

  21. Within three weeks, we had completed all preparations for the arrival of the first guests to the island, we had done some major advertising in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and Canada, and we have been getting some solid bookings to stay on the island. Using the company that has DHC-8 Dash 8 aircraft, we have arranged for weekly flights from Perth to Deepdale Island and return, and also weekly flights from Singapore to Deepdale Island via the Cocos Keeling Islands,

  23. After a lot of hard work by everyone, especially with the planting of all the trees, and the establishing of fruit orchards and vegetable patches around the island, we are now ready to accept our first guests onto the island. All of the larger trees were doing very well, and we had planted a variety of fruit trees amongst them, as well as having the large orchards, so we can have a plentiful supply of fruit for most of the year, and the golf course was now ready to be used. At 2600 metres
  24. I closed and locked the door from the dining room to the pantry and crew stairwell, as well the door to the forward crew area, and the triple glazed siding doors out to the balcony deck, both in the dining room and the now hospital, meaning the Jacuzzi was now out of bounds. Once the surgery theatre was sterilised, the stewards got to work to do the same for the hospital, and we retreived a total of 16 mattresses from vacant crew beds, to be placed on the floor in the hospital area. 25. About twenty minutes later, while the stewards were showing the guests to their cabins, the twins had already dissapeared to get up to some sort of mischief, and I headed up to the bridge, and moments after arriving, we heard over the radio – “This is the Australian Defence Force on Deepdale Island, all approaching naval vessels be warned that we will defend this Australian Territorial Island, stop and turn around, do not approach this island, if you do breach the 200 kilometre sea boundary, it
