The train journey is possible in real life. Perth to Sydney is about $2,500 AU for a Gold Class Single Cabin, with shared ablutions. Adelaide to Darwin is about $300 to $400 more, even thou the journey is shorter in distance and time. I am not sure about costs, but there are also train trips from Mt Isa to Townsville, and from Cairns to Sydney. There is also train trip from Sydney to Melbourne and onto Adelaide. I have done the train trip from Sydney to Perth, which was a great experience.

Chapter 10 I woke up in the middle of the night and immediately vomited. My head pounded with pain each time I threw up. Reaching for my phone I speed dialled Kyle. “Help, I am…” I threw up again all over the bed and on the floor. Within moments Kyle raced into the room and switched on the main light, revealing the mess all over the room. Looking at me he grabbed my phone and called for an ambulance. Once he had done that he carefully helped me ge

The following day, I asked Kyle to drop me off at the university so I could sort out what books I would need for classes for next semester. I would call him when I was ready to be collected. Once on campus I decided to have a more detailed look around the campus, as last time I was interrupted by my friends. As I was walking around I spotted a familiar face approaching me. He stopped to ask a question. “Excuse me, buddy. Would you be able to direct me to the book shop? I

“Mrs Parkes is back housekeeping for me, and her nephew, Kyle, is my driver and butler, not that I really need one, but I am enjoying it while it lasts. Come with me to the car and we can ask Kyle the address,” I said as I led the way back to where the car was parked. It was during this short stroll that I noticed the group split up into pairs. Julia and Toby were holding hands, as were Danny and Mark. I had to take a second glance to make sure I was seeing correctly, and Sam saw thi

The man seemed to calm down after being told off by the off duty officer, and said “I’m an uncle of one of the students, and travelled separately to watch her in the rodeo." I was still a bit surprised at the sudden assistance from the police officer. It was Chris that took over dealing this incident. “Sir my name is Christopher Silverton. This is your one and only warning, if you are out of line in any way, you will forfeit any fees that you have payed and you will be escorted off the sta

For the past 6 years I had been getting weekly reports from Mr Hills on how the business was going, and under his guidance partial profits were reinvested into the company, while the remainder was invested. I had a good understanding of business now and was able to get a clearer understanding of all business matters, so I wasn’t relying on Mr Hills to explain anything that I didn’t understand as was the case when I took over as owner of the truck business a few years back. As I was s

“Now, Mr Wellstead, you have only been in this school for two days and already you are in trouble,” the headmaster began. Before he could say anything more there was a knock on the door, which opened before the headmaster could respond, and in walked the school nurse. “Headmaster, as soon as I heard this young man being called to your office I knew it would be about this morning’s incident,” the nurse began, not letting the headmaster say anything as she continued. “Mr Jemison had in

Within 3 weeks, all three schools had sent back a list of participants for all of the events, and a preliminary list of people who would be attending the weekend. So far there were approximately twenty students from each school that would be competing. Plus three teachers from each school and family of each of the students would be attending, bringing the numbers to approximately 190 people. It was about this time that I received three unexpected fax messages, from the Baptist College, and Catho

Before boarding the plane at 10.10 pm to leave Australia, I said a sad farewell to Mrs Parkes, Mr Hills and Judge Andrews, as well as Julia Crenshaw, Danny and Sam Alder, plus Mark and Toby Kilton who had all come to the airport to see us leave for a new start in life. I knew I would be in regular contact with Mr Hills, and Mrs Parkes had managed to get a new job as senior house keeper for a large house, so I didn’t need to worry about leaving her without a job. The flight to London

The letter further informed me that Mr Hills had a busy day, but he would be at the business half an hour after I arrived from school, at approximately 4.30pm. I was also told that the driver would take me back home afterwards, and that my grandparents had been notified that I went straight from school to the business for an important meeting. The letter further stated that Mr Hills informed the writer about an hour ago that he had also notified Judge Andrews of the situation, who w

Once everyone had eaten and relaxed a bit, I called everyone back to the table for a station meeting. “As you are all aware, we have a cyclone heading our way, it may not even reach us, but we must be prepared, now since this homestead is the strongest out of all the homesteads it is my recommendation that once all preparations have been completed at the other 7 stations, all staff return to this homestead for shelter. There is to be no arguments regarding this, safety of staff is my main

Once the families were settled, they came back outside to join the rest of the crowd. Shortly after everyone relaxed, the sound of a plane approaching could be heard, “Excuse me,” I murmured and strode over to the office. “Pondana this is RFDS, requesting permission to land over” I heard on the radio just as I was approaching the office door, grabbing the radio, I walked back outside before replying. “RFDS this is Pondana, permission is granted, please use North South runway as ther

The history assignment was to choose a person of the past who was not famous, but had made a significant difference to the lives of the people around that person, also a minimum of 2000 words. Finally, the mathematics assignment was 4 pages of mathematical puzzles. Each one had to have the correct answer, plus the method of how I came to that answer. The maths was the hardest of all the assignments, so I decided to tackle that one first and got to work on it right away. After an hou

After the accident, the law firm assigned someone to see to the business when required, and dismissed the receptionist. Everything had been put on hold, until I turned up on Friday afternoon. They were reluctant to listen to me, but when I mentioned Judge Andrew’s name, and with me being a QC, they quickly changed their minds.” “Your father was a very clever businessman,” Mr Hills said. “Up till his sudden death he had built a net fortune in excess of $14 million, which I think is ve

The next morning, we had an early breakfast, and we were on our way half an hour after day break, it was going to be a very warm today and I wanted to try and get home before lunch time, even though we still had another 5 water points to check on. It was just before 2pm by the time we rolled into the homestead compound, as we had discovered a broken pump rod on one of the wind mills and it took some time to lift and dismantle the rods to get to the one that was broken and to replace it before pu
