  11. I hope your grandfather is getting better and better. And you know what, my maternal grandfather is 92 years old now. He stays in a good health. He looks younger than he is, and I really want to know his secret. he he.... Actually, applying the sun/ moisturizing lotion or using the particular facewash is the normal behaviour now. My dermatologist told me that whoever or how old you are, people need to use the suitable treatment for their skin. By the way, applying sun lotion is the best way to protect our skin from ultraviolet. If we don't apply it, we will look older which my dermatologist told me. Moreover, it will increase to get the skin cancer if we don't apply it. Therefore, we need to apply it for our better skin health. Colin
  12. Hi Luc, I think all you need to worry is to not let him get overweight, and provide him the healthy food. It is normal that kids eat a lot. Colin

  14. I am 46%.
  15. I got your point about this part, and I am sorry to forget to mention it in my previous comment. This part is my favour of this story. I am very interested in what you mentioned here, but I cannot exactly get what your point. It seems to be slightly vague to me. Would you mind clarifying it in details about "a higher level of 'spirituality'" to me? (In what sense, really? it would be nice if you provided me an example) Best, Colin

  20. I wish you good luck, David. :-)
  21. From my point of view, your advisor must treat you like a very close friend so she directly pointed what she wanted to say. If you are a close/best friend of your friends in Taiwan, it is necessary to point out the disadvantages of your friends. If your friends cannot accept what you say, that means they do not treat you as a close friend as you do to them. Therefore, from this point, your Taiwanese friends will ask about your salary, but if you don't think they are your close friends, just give them a very vague answer. I really don't get your point here so I cannot provide my exact viewpoint. However, I guess that your friends want to point out something which is quite painful to you(something more painful than you look fatter). So they cannot just directly tell you what they want to say. They are afraid that you will get hurt. Moreover, Taiwanese will tell you what they thnk you want to hear because they think they know you(this means they treat you as a close friend), but if you don't agree with them, just ignore what they say in silence. Cultures are the complicated things wherever you are. All the best, Colin
  22. It is a part of culture in Taiwan(one of the big bad cultural things, I mean). Colin
  23. The taiwanese politics is very interesting indeed.
  24. I agree with you, but LittleBuddhaTW must consider the "realistic" factors. Although he seems to like the research thing more, I totally understand his decision. Since I read this blog, I have had an option for him, but I have considered if I shall suggest him or not. I am very much afraid that if I told him about it, it would influence his mind again. Therefore, I could choose to step aside. Moreover, I think he might have thought about that option on his own. Since I heard of this news, I have been kind of sad even though we don't know each other. All the best to you, LittleBuddhaTW Colin
