A friend and I agreed that it was so much effort in trying to get together one year that we decided to catch up in January. Nice and relaxed chat over breakfast instead of a mad rush - very civilized and we exchange gifts too.
Now it’s a tradition
A partridge in an apple and pear tree, very festive
We are finishing off dessert leftovers and having peaches and passion fruit, it’s a great combination. Especially with “outrageously thick” custard
You would have enjoyed the Boxing Day chutney we had here. I love it on a ham sandwich. My sister made sausage rolls with the chutney as a secret ingredient. She used to make them with an asparagus chutney and they were good too.
We had open sandwiches for lunch today - toasted Turkish bread topped with a rough bruschetta and prawns. Great use of leftovers
We had a very relaxed Christmas here. Lunch was Morton Bay Bugs in garlic with rice and salad. Dinner was prawns. Dessert was a pavlova extravaganza topped with peaches, passion fruit, delicious raspberry meringue, hazelnut chocolate and a chocolate coated gingerbread biscuit. I may have gone over the top with the pavlova decorations.
More seafood tomorrow
I'm off to bed. Enjoy the rest of your day
Avoiding the heat it was a long drive down with no aircon in the car. Not fun at all. It’s going to be 43C at home but only a cool 40C here at my sister's. Tomorrow promises to be much better
and yes I have been drinking lots of water
Not enjoying the heat here and it’s only going to get worse for the next few days
But two bits of good news, I am heading to my sister’s for cooler weather and we are getting a 15 degree drop in temp for Christmas (crossing fingers the forecast is accurate). 41C on Monday and 26C for Christmas Eve
