  1. That's a true shame that people would resort to this type of thing. My thoughts go out to KC in having to go through this. I only had it happen once and it wasn't Amazon but it got resolved quite quickly. Hopefully yours will as well.
  2. Well I for one sincerely hope that you do decide to continue it and write that sequel. I love Anne's world so much and you did such a wonderful job with it that of course means I want more since I can never get enough Pern. If you don't then I will understand as well but in the meantime I'll keep my fingers crossed.
  3. Ok now I am totally confused. I have no idea what you have there since the program I downloaded is nothing like that. I did send an email out to some people who may be able to help you with this so check back here over the next day or so and maybe they will have responded. They actually know a computer from a hole in the ground which I don't. Sorry I couldn't help more DS
  4. Hi, maybe I can help here. You should see an "Add" button down at the bottom of the screen when you open the program. Click on it then add information as you want ending by clicking on "Save" which will ask you where you want to save the database file for later retrieval so you can have multiple files if you wish. Select where you want to save it and do so. That should work for you. Also when you go back into a specific file just click edit to add or make any changes to a character's information then save. Hope this helps and if it doesn't then I would suggest downloading it again or contacting Akeentia@paddedroom.us for further assistance as he wrote the program. DS
  5. I spoke with him a couple of months ago and he is continuing it but he writes chapters very slowly due to a very hectic real life. I too am eagerly awaiting more.
  6. Yes a wonderful new chapter and new story set in that universe as well. I hope everyone checks it out it's really worth it.
  7. Happy Birthday my friend I am sorry for the belated wishes but haven't had net access in a bit. Many, many more to you DS
  8. First reaction OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! Excellent chapter as usual Dan, I loved it with the above caveat in place. Wow, what a couple of chapters and the emotions they evoked ran the gamut. Bravo
  9. Wow that's a hard question and I'm not sure how to answer it other than as one person above stated, just write, and keep on writing. If you've never read Robert Heinlein's Rules of Writing then I strongly encourage you to do so, especially the first three. Rule One: You Must Write Rule Two: Finish What You Start Rule Three: You Must Refrain From Rewriting, Except to Editorial Order Published Author Robert J. Sawyer expanded on that last rule with these comments "This is the one that got Heinlein in trouble with creative-writing teachers. Perhaps a more appropriate wording would have been, "Don't tinker endlessly with your story." You can spend forever modifying, revising, and polishing. There's an old saying that stories are never finished, only abandoned
  10. It's really great that you're home Dan. Make sure and give Trebs a great big hug from all of us for being so persistent and I hope you fully recover quickly.
  11. All the best Dan, get well soon.
  12. Thought I would mention that his stories are being hosted on The Story Lover TSL has the completely updated Book 1 up now and eight chapters of Book 2 up with two more going up this weekend out of the 12 in the book. More go up as they get updated. There are also a bunch of other great stories located there as well. Enjoy DS
  13. I'll jump in here as well. I always used Times New Roman 12 for my fonts but the site that hosts my stories switches it to Arial as JS and Graeme stated. I also agree mainly through having it come back to bite me in the rear that nice high contrast text/background scenarios work the best. I posted a number of my chapters in a nice royal blue text on black background that I thought looked marvelous only to have a bunch of emails blasting me for it. It worked for me quite well but others whined about it. It doesn't matter that they could copy/paste it and change it to something else quite easily, they won't, usually just bitch about it. I finally settled on black text on a light yellow background for things for quite a while and most people seemed to like that. Anyway save yourself a headache and stick with what others have said nice contrast and Arial or Times New Roman. Use the breaks too that makes a world of difference. Oh and get a good editor I can't believe how bad some of my earlier chapters look without that person's assistance as was struck home when two unedited early chapters got put up recently by mistake instead of the edited ones. Take Care DS
  14. Well I will add my shock that an author would reply in that manner. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I don't care who knows where my stories are posted frankly and while I wouldn't really understand the point of the question I certainly would not respond in a negative manner about it. Oh well there are some strange ducks out there so I'd just chock it up to the bizarre category and go on with your life. Sad it had to happen though
  15. Imagine my surprise when I stopped by to check to see if there was anything new and saw this new button up. I thought "No, it couldn't be" But it was! Wow Dan you have done it again and brought us back to such a wonderful universe that I never thought to see again. Not only that but you have done it in a way that makes it new and exciting not to mention completely different, yet still familiar at the same time. I've already got my editor drooling over the news about it, you'd think it was Christmas day again and he was getting a present. Then again I suppose we all are, a terrific one at that. Wonderful job with it Thank you DS
