  1. I feel for you, James - it's true, sometimes it's best to wait until conditions are right.
  2. Thanks for the review! Yup, it's an actual sword - glad you liked the story!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it despite its super short length ^^

*Bows right back while blushing.* Thanks for the review!

    The Portal

Thank you, glad you liked it!
  8. What if you could go back in time, and change that one day when you decided to come out? The Portal deals with that question, a flash fiction story just about 1500 words long. Let me know what you think! Read it here: The Portal by Albert Nothlit https://www.gayauthors.org/story/albertnothlit/theportal_2015
  9. Thanks for the review! The story will continue, and I am currently working on the second part. Hopefully it won't be long before it's ready to go!

    The Portal

I totally agree. There's a lot of young people out there, and some not so young, who could benefit from hearing something like that message from others, but most of all from themselves.

    The Portal

Thank you for the review! You're right, the attitude with which we face who we are can sometimes be the root of everything we think is wrong when it really isn't.

    The Portal

Thank you, Carlos. I also think they are words which I would have liked to hear more often as I was growing up.

Thanks, Timothy! You're right, part of the time paradox would involve all the retroactive changes to the new timeline, unless we go for the branching timeline theory, in which case there is an infinite number of possibilities and only in one of them would the main character have experienced everything exactly as was told in the story. I think my brain hurts now.

Thanks for the review, and for all your comments, Valkyrie! I don't usually do flash fiction, but it was a fun challenge to try and fit an entire story into 1500 words. I might try it again sometime!

    Oak Shadows

This was a nice read, going from lighthearted to dark to happy. I'm glad that things turned out all right in the end, and these characters have a lot of potential!
  16. You had me grinning from beginning to end! I particularly liked how you were able to insert character descriptions while not stopping the fast-paced banter in the story. I'm trying very hard right now to repress an awwww for how the story ended. Dammit. I was not successful.

    Chapter 1

This was an intriguing start to this story. I like how you manage exposition without giving too much away too suddenly, letting the narrative reveal itself at its own pace. I'm interested to see where this is going!

    The Portal

The Portal by Albert Nothlit Brett Riley leans on the railing of the bridge overlooking the freezing river. It is early January, and when Brett leans forward he sees pieces of ice floating in the current. He climbs onto the railing. Behind him cars speed past, their headlights illuminating Brett's crouched shape before disappearing down the freeway. A few drivers catch a glimpse of a young man perched precariously on the edge of the bridge, wearing a rumpled suit that is soaked from
  19. What if you could go back in time, and erase that one day when you decided to come out?
  20. I'm starting to think I did cut the story a bit too short, from all the feedback I've been getting! I'll fix it the second part, though. If anything, I have a hard time keeping stories short. The temptation to go on and on and on is sometimes too strong and word limits can be a pain!
  21. I'm glad I was able to keep you guessing as to whether it would be a horrible tragic ending or not! Right now I'm in the process of editing a few stories that will be published this year, but Winterblade will also be one of my priorities. Thanks for the review!
  22. Thanks! The second part is in the works right now. It shouldn't take me too long to finish, I hope!
  23. Whoa, thank you for the awesome review! I do know I left a lot of things unanswered, but it was on purpose so I have something to talk about in the sequel . Now the only thing I have to do is finish it already. Cheers, Albert
  24. Thank you, Carlos! I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and I hope to finish the second part in what might become a series in the near future. Right now I'm at that point where I have the entire new plot thought out and I just wish it would hurry up and leave my brain already, lol. I'm loving it here at GA. All the feedback I'm getting is awesome!
