    Chapter 10

I don’t know you and you only know me through my writing. Do you really think I wouldn’t protect the boys? Actually the boys do lose the farm but Lenny got the money for the farm. There was no way they could get the farm back and Jim wouldn’t allow them to live there alone. It was for the best. you have a good heart

    Chapter 10

The farm was home for them and their feelings were more than losing a place, they lost the family. That is hard for anyone

    Chapter 10

I picked up the book I was reading, then I realized I didn’t have a place to sit. I brought the chair we removed back into their room. I was wondering who was going to sleep on top, it was Joey. I read until then boys started to yawn. I hugged them, wished them goodnight, then went to close up. The next morning, two wide eyes boys had to tell me about sleeping in the bunk beds. I’m not sure if it was the bed as much as it reminded them of the farm. I figured it was like a little piece of home br

    Chapter 9

There are always those who think the worst of a situation, it is unfortunate when they ae in a position that could cause misery for a lot of children.

    Chapter 9

I still think you should write a book. If you don't I may have to. I think the best way to 1) get even and 2) express your self. Some times if we write what bothers us it is somewhat cartharis. But I'm glad you like my story even if it reminds you of some unpleasant thoughts

    Chapter 9

Thank you. I think everyone expected this since Joey made his wishes known to Pete. How long it would take Pete to say "dad" was unknown

    Chapter 9

I'm glad Lenny will be there
  11. CLJobe

    Chapter 9

yes, for Jim it was a moment to remember and for Pete is was the culmination of a desire and the end of losing his perceived independence

    Chapter 9

The boys wore their coats, scarf, gloves, and boots out to feed the chickens. I started to prep for dinner. Pete said we needed to get some straw for the chickens. “Will need to make sure the nests have a lot of straw to keep them warm.” “Maybe, we’ll have to redesign the chicken house.” “Can we do that?” “Sure why don’t you work on the design and I’ll get the wood.” When I said that I didn’t know what I was getting into. One thing I did know, the design would be based o

    Chapter 8

I never experience that growth rate, but then I'm not that tall either. I think my dad was the tallest at 5'9''. But, children do grew fast, it was important that they get more than one year out of the coats. I'm sure Pete will pass his on to Joey

    Chapter 7

A typical answer from a young boy.

    Chapter 6

So is Jim. Pete strikes me like a guy who wants to know what is behind the door before he opens it.
  18. CLJobe

    Chapter 7

Yes, there is black and white b ut never gray. Typical bureaucratic nonsense
  19. CLJobe

    Chapter 8

I think deep down Pete wanted to become Jim's son. Jim played it smart, didn't force Pete, accepted him as if he was his son and treated him accordingly. all in all, a well played strategy based on love and the desire of Jim to have a family.

    Chapter 8

Uncle Jeff enjoys being called that. I have a feeling that Uncle Jeff is an only child and enjoys Jim's company as an adopted brother

    Chapter 8

Thanks. Jim is wise by allowing Pete to take the lead in picking out clothes, Joey is happy with that.
  22. CLJobe

    Chapter 8

Yes, I think it is reciprocal. The time they spent on their grandfathers farm has bonded them.
  23. CLJobe

    Chapter 8

Driving to work, Pete asked if he had to call me dad. I told him, no but I hoped in time he would be comfortable enough to call me dad. I knew Pete accepted to be adopted at the insistence of Joey. This is something Joey wanted and Pete went along with it. No way would I force Pete to do anything. He was smart, careful, and more sensitive than he let on. I was sure he wouldn’t jump into anything without testing the waters first. Losing his grandparents and then the farm hurt him. He wasn’t going

    Chapter 7

Yes, the only way chickens can populate is with a rooster. Maybe that is what Joey wants.
  25. CLJobe

    Chapter 7

In the long run, yes he will be glad he chose adoption. Joey will br happy and for Pete that is a plus.
