I think you are right. Pete needs to develop confidence in Jim. Giving up your independence is difficult at any age.

No, I think Pete has been in a responsible position after his grandfather dies Pete more or less was the man oif the house. what Pete hasn't taken into account was his grandmother was there guiding him. Then when she died it was all up to Pete top0 take care of Joey. Yes, I haven't seen any stories about asexual men or women.

Yes, circumstances cause children to grow up way before they should. Pete had to and now he doesn't know how to be a kid.
