    Chapter 14

The feeling of being free and not realizing there is more to it escapes Dante. You're right, he will learn the hard way.

    Chapter 15

Early the next morning, the boys had the cart loaded with the bags of oats. Aumen was on his horse, and Paxton was sitting in the cart when Dante arrived with his bundle of clothes. Lucinius mounted his horse and led the cart to the city. They repeated the same path as last time, a stop at the Temple with a bag of oats for the priest, a visit at Gaius’s where he insisted they had something to eat and drink. On the way to his father’s, he let Dante off and wished him good luck. Assuming the baker

    Chapter 14

At breakfast in the morning, “Lucinius, I would like to stay longer, but I need to go and see mother and father. I’m planning on leaving tomorrow early.” “I’ll be sad to see you leave, but I understand. You’ll always be welcome to my home.” That night, they roasted one of the pigs in celebration of Duccius’s visit. With Duccius gone, the Villa returned to its day to day activities as usual Lucinius thanked Apollo for his brother’s visit and prayed for his well being. A hunting party we

Also some conditioning done by his father. I think that Duccius sees some of the problem but as the favored son, he will have a hard time going against his father

    Chapter 13

You are welcome. You are a rich man if you have a loyal friend

    Chapter 13

Yes, but I don't think he will be able to convince his father to set the slaves free and expect them to stay. His father is a cruel master, he beat his slaves, so there is not way they would stay.

    Chapter 13

I think Duccius was aware of his father's views on Lucinius. He spent 14 years with his father's unfavorable treatment of Lucinius. I think his comment concerning the Villa was more of a surprise to him knowing how is father felt about Lucinius. In Rokman tradition the eldest son inherits the property.

    Chapter 13

I'm sure Appias never mentioned anything about Lucinius to Duccius.

    Chapter 12

Yes they have. I think Lucinius is proving hisnpoint, a freeman will work harder than a slave. These boys all share in the profits

    Chapter 12

There was a lot of hard work. Farming was hard, there were no machines to help, if you have ever made a garden at your home usijg a shovel and a rake, you know how hard these boys had to work to raise crops.

    Chapter 13

As time passed, the boys tending the animal sheds had a surprise for Lucinius. They had caught several rabbits and placed them in a shed. Lucinius smiled. He knew that his boys were behind him, just like Aumen. He’d prove a freedman will work harder than a slave. Knowing how rabbits multiplied, he now was guaranteed rabbit and wild pig for an occasional roast. They had just finished a midday meal when they saw a rider coming toward the house. One of the boys working in the garden told Lucin

    Chapter 11

To the best of my knowledge, no. But I guess you could try it, not sure how it would come out, but it probably would taste okay.

    Chapter 12

I think you will have to get in line for adoption. We think life 300BC was terrible, Lucinius's life doesn't seem so bad.

    Chapter 12

Yes, the gods have smiled on Lucinius

    Chapter 12

Aenais is close to the age of Lucinius, adoption is out of the question more like a brother would make sense

    Chapter 12

Lucinius took Felix and Aeneas and headed to the city. He needed to buy sandals for the men as well as better clothing. Before he left, Aumen reminded him to replace the clothes they had contributed to the men. He would stop and see his mother and Gaius. On the trip, he let Aeneas ride one of the horses, Felix rode on the cart driving the mules. Actually, the mules just followed along, but Felix felt like he was in charge. Lucinius had made this trip enough times he knew where he could t
