    Chapter 26

I think to be a member of the Senate you had to reside in Rome, Lucinius didn't reside in Rome

    Chapter 25

Expanding is alway an option. I think there is unoccupied land surrounding the Villa

    Chapter 26

What are you thinking?” “Tomorrow we’ll celebrate our birthdays. I’ll be twenty-three. It seems so long ago when we first arrived at the Villa. So much has happened.” “We have a lot to be thankful for. I’ll be twenty-five. You know it’s nice that we all celebrate our birthdays on the same day. The boys, I mean men, I’m so used to calling them boys that I forgot they have grown since that first day we brought them to the Villa.” “Yes, they are men; we have prospered with their help

    Chapter 25

I will ask him but I have a feeling they are fed the the chafes from the wheat and oats, probably some left overs from the kitchen, and with all of that manure, I'm sure it is being plowed back into the soil for the gardens. But let me check

    Chapter 25

You are right. I'm always amazed when you give someone credit for doing something to further thee whole, they gain confidence and recognition. To bad that Duccius and the like didn't recognize this.

    Chapter 25

    Chapter 25

Yes, you are correct. I think it is amazing that these boys look upon the Villa as home. As such they go out of the way to assume ownership and work to make the Villa better.

    Chapter 25

Thanks, I think you summed that up pretty well. The moral being, when one puts aside their own greed and strives to share with their friends, positive results occur. Someone once said, No man knows everything. Unfortunately there are men from the days of Rome until today that think they know it all

    Chapter 25

It was battle scared but by the size of the ruins of the Villa, Lucinius knew it must have been successful before the war, and he was right.

    Chapter 25

Life on the Villa seemed to follow the previous years, the animal sheds now represented a significant construction project, or so it seemed. My hunters were bringing back live animals. We now added deer to our Villa. They captured a young deer, Curzio took care of it, feeding it whey from when we made cheese. I wondered what they were going to do with it when it was full grown. Being a male, it will not be complacent about being in one of the animal cages. “Aumen, have you been to the anima

    Chapter 24

It is obvious that the food they vendor sell, isn't top quality. ie. wine sold was first press is actually second press.

    Chapter 23

I think he is. Celia prayed to Apollo for a son just the opposite of Duccius. I'm sure she didn't dally around. Appias would have killed her if she did. She is too smart.

    Chapter 24

There is no reason for Lucinius tontine the other Villa. He is perfectly happy where he is. I have. a feeling his Villa iOS superior to his grandfathers in the south.,

    Chapter 24

Duccius undertands that he will inherit Appias estate in Rome. He wants his brother to inherit the villa in the south. I wouldn't be surprised if he pushes Lucinius to take the villa in the South and then he would take the Villa that Lucinius now owns. He likes the hunting.

    Chapter 24

Actually, Appias does accept it, his pride wouldn't allow him to accept it from Lucinius. Roman law the estate would pass to Appias. The only way that Appias would accept anything from Lucinius is if he, Appias, demanded it or use took its he did when he visited Lucinius at his Villa.

    Chapter 24

We arrived in the morning. The sun had started to travel across the sky. Felix was cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast when one of the boys told him we were arriving. It was nice to see the boys welcoming us home and Felix with dishes of freshly prepared eggs, fresh-baked bread, and fruit. “Felix, this bread tastes different. What did you do?” “Sir, since we added herbs to the cheese, I added herbs to the bread.” “It’s delicious, and maybe we should sell bread in the city.”

    Chapter 23

The roman late at the time the eldest son inherited the father's estate. The women, couldn't inherit anything. it was a man's world. In the car of grandfathers, Appias would inherit the villa in the south and since Celia's father had bio sons, he could leave not to anyone he wanted anyone who is male. My guess he would leave it to Lucinius. So ion Appias dies, and he is living in the3 Southern Villa, Duccius would inherit

    Chapter 23
