    Chapter 9

Interlude 16CE – 22CE In the year 16CE, the Emperor Tiberius was 56, but the Empire was not enjoying his second year as Emperor. Following the death of Augustus in 14CE, he seems to have wished for the Senate and the state to simply act without him. His direct orders were rather vague, inspiring debate more on what he actually meant, than on passing his legislation. In his first few years, Tiberius seemed to have wanted the Senate to act on its own, rather than as a ser

    Chapter 8

Cephas picked up the stylus again but surrendering to frustration threw the instrument down on the table. He’d been given a boring and onerous commission to translate the Hebrew Torah into Greek. Translating Hebrew texts and letters into Greek was now his livelihood. Rewarding financially, but very dreary. I need fresh air. This claustrophobic room is starting to irritate me. I need excitement. No – I crave excitement. And so he left the Serapeum 70 embracing Pompey’s Pillar and,

    Chapter 7

Suddenly a gust of wind attacked the sail and the dhow heeled dangerously over to starboard sending any loose items on the deck crashing to the lee side. With his body straining to overcome the unexpected pressure on the tiller, Farhan called out, “Khara! 60! Khara! Ya gizma 61! Captain quickly. Help me. The wind is too strong.” Acknowledging Farhan’s plea, Makul grabbed the tiller and both men struggled to overcome the violent wind gust. They had just cleared the Indus estuary a

    Chapter 6

From its humble origin in the foothills of the Himalayas, the mighty Indus River winds its way through the Indian sub continent. As it reaches the Erythraean 46 Sea, it becomes a delta with seven outlets to the ocean. Only one channel is navigable and on this, the trading port of Barbarikon developed. Just a little north of the town, one channel forms a shallow sandy lagoon. Because the water is fresh, plants, mammals, fish, and insect life thrive. Palm trees provide shade and seclusion

    Chapter 5

It was a warm sunny day with a light onshore breeze as Adlai stood on the docking pier at Barbarikon, watching the dhow carrying his uncle edge closer. It was an ungainly looking vessel with a single lateen sail, but these vessels had proved their seaworthiness through many a monsoonal gale. Idra, standing on the raised aft deck, waved enthusiastically to him. Idra again marveled how the trading port had grown over the years. Barbarikon, being the only navigable outlet of the mighty Indu
  6. As an author I love and enjoy answering readers comments. The path set out in the ACTIVITY lead does not set out all comments related to my stories. Does anyone know of a simple process where ALL comments are readily available in one spot? I tried to ask this Q with Cia and got into a bit of trouble. Maybe I'm stupid; as such can anyone help this stupid author?

    Prologue

When I say it's not a religious story I mean that I'm not espousing any religious beliefs. To me these lost years need explanation. Now of course, there is some doubt that the Jesus of the new testament ever actually existed from a historical viewpoint.

How right you are. I've had some female readers who couldn't read the rape scene

    Chapter 4

Interlude 9CE – 15CE The First decade CE 35 was dominated by a disastrous Roman defeat. In 9CE, a Roman army under Tiberius Quintilius Varro was defeated by Germanic tribes at the battle of Teutoburg forest. Not just defeated – it was annihilated. Twenty thousand men were slaughtered with the loss of three Roman standards. The Emperor Augustus was often seen roaming the rooms of his Palace crying out, “Varus, Varus – give me back my legions.” As a result

    Chapter 3

I decided to go different because to be an author on GA doesn't mean to have gay relationships and sex as themes all the time. Well that's only my opinion, so I tried for something different. Hope it works.and hope you enjoy

    Chapter 3

Although all the boys and youths had departed Nazareth at different times and directions, they eventually banded together for warmth and security. But as the sun climbed over the Galilean hills the following morn, its rays fell upon an emotionally shattered group. The terrible news about the rape and slaughter of the innocents had reached them during the night. The initial reaction was disbelief, but when it became clear that it was true, their grief descended into desolation. Most of th

    Chapter 2

In his short life, Tavi had never known such fear. He now sat, by himself, in the very corner of the prison tent into which he’d been thrown. His fear was such that he’d curled himself up into a fetal position hugging his knees and staring at the ground. Gone was the bravado, the aggression, and the belief in his immortality. It was replaced by an awful fear that he was going to die. What an idiot. He had stormed into the village square, spoiling for a fight. And that’s exactly what he got. Of c

Thanx Jeff. Well, some people may take offence. But I've tried to tone the story hopefully that it will not be offensive.

    Chapter 1

Seemingly suspended between earth and sky the ‘short toed’ eagle flew lazily in circles searching for prey to feed her young. At this time of the day, hot thermals rising from the desert floor aided her flight. Using these thermals, she swooped, soared and hovered over the desert landscape, senses alert for any movement that could suggest food. Her prey was preferably snakes and she killed not by her talons but by using her beak which was specially adapted for large kills. Thus, she was

    Prologue

The winds of change were swirling throughout the land; this ancient land; this Palestine. The Jewish people held strong religious ideals and a yearning for both spiritual and political freedom. And they were a disgruntled lot. Over time, they had split into factions each differently interpreting religious dictates as set down by their god, Yahweh. Occasionally, rebellious leaders would arise, and being victorious, would usher in a short period of freedom for the whole Jewish population. Suc

    Adlai

Adlai Ben Yusuf the son of a humble carpenter, grew up in the village of Nazareth in the troubled land called Palestine. With with his brother Tavi and cousin Cephas he enjoyed the usual escapades and misadventures of a normal teenage boy. Whereas Adlai was scholarly and introspective his brother Tavi was an extrovert. He was a warrior, an adventurer and a womaniser; trouble followed him relentlessly. Being popular and well-loved, he was his father Yusuf''s favourite. Then suddenly a simple mistake occurred which was to have tragic and far-reaching consequences; consequences that have endured to the present day.

I've written four stories so far; Sammy was my first and, as such, will always have a special part in my heart. When I hear from folks such as you, I'm motivated to keep writing. Are you an author yourself?

    Chapter 9

Your very kind. I just love writing, particularly about gay issues. When reading other authors I get frustrated having to wait for a new chapter to be posted. I'm sure you must feel the same. I don't think it fair on readers to stop a story and then not add additional chapters till sometime down the line. I make sure I've finished my stories before I post them to GA. I'm not perfect and will always welcome constructive comments. Thank you very much for reading.
