    Epilogue - The End

Wonderful Story. You showed a wonderful love story and another world I wish only existed in fiction. I read a lot of stories online. Few authors seem to take control of as many of the readers emotions as you have here. I should start counting the tissues so I can rank stories on a tissue scale. You'd be right up there. Looking forward to reading more of your work.
  2. I almost feel like you owe me a box of tissues. This was beautiful and so hard to read at the same time. Im older grew up in the 60's-70's. Out wasn't a real option, TV commercials with Anita Bryant saying that Homosexuals could be cured by reprogramming. So was much latter in life I even stopped fighting it myself. When I did I couldnt continue to lie so I started to come out to family one at a time. Different reactions from each than I expected, but one thing they all did say - dont let your father find out.. This was also my fear as well. One day I went over to see him & stepmother totally forgot to take off the rubber pride bracelet I wear. We visited for a while and then out of the blue he says so whats the bracelet for.. Step mother got up to make a quick retreat on the way said something like "thats in support of a friend isnt it" .. My dad then said quietly to me "No its not about a friend and we both know it" me total panic ... Then My dad said Ive watched you since your divorce and what Ive seen is you happier than Ive ever seen you. Thats all a parent ever wants. Also close to word for word about parents needing to protect there children as in your story. So of all the people I came out to ( and were wrong about my dad) he was the most supportive most understanding and accepting of any... Royce's reaction was so close to home - YOU owe me lots of tissues ( I will accept payments in the posting of other work of yours I intend to read them as well ) Jack

    Chapter 18

Great story , really made the chars come to life. Also written from a different generation from me but yet somethings werent so different ,others thankfully were. Looking forward to reading the next story.
  7. Great story, I could relate to the confused state of Chads mind in the beginning. Roy also hit home though I knew a few Roys when I learned the art of being gay.. I did know early I was 'different' pretty sure that ment gay. Also at that point in time the TV was in a media frenzy of Anita Bryant ( I mean whats more pure than orange juice lady?) saying gay was a choice and it could be changed. All I needed to hear I didnt want it in the first place. No way I could get to one of those reassignment centers without family knowing, so I decided to reorient myself ( yeah Im a lil crazy that way) ... Many years later I met a women that I actually was attracted to. Felt like I was succeeding in my become hetro quest... After years of marriage ( no children thankfully) , I found out she was having affairs, about half of them with women.. I remember when I was really young hearing adults talk about 'Natures Cruel Joke' at some point I connected that to meaning queer ( dunno if gay was a word back then) Well how messed up is it when a gay man in total denial of who he is marries a lesbian in equally deep denial.. I filed for divorce explaining , I was setting us both free... Two years in court I was finally single again. 42 and felt like I was starting life all over... Even friends had gotten lost along the way dealing with the ugly divorce etc. the day my divorce was final ( oddly Oct 12) I decided if Im starting over this time Im going to explore the previously not considered option.. Online profile to find a guy(s) to get know.. OK I was totally out of my element... several guys ( Roys) took it upon themselves to ( I called them mother hens) educate me on being gay.. ( sometimes coming out to ourselves is the biggest hurdle, it was for me) It didn't come out as much of a love story as your story here did , for me it was more like Toads wild ride. I very much enjoy reading here and other sites and thank you for the work in creating it... Looking forward to the next in this series
  8. Great story... looking forward to book II! As recent news has shown a definite backlash from extremist groups because of the recent jumps in lbgt rights. Makes this story work even more. Something the story touched on as the evangelical movements creating public out cry that forced a more covert approach by them I think has some merit. I've felt that rev Fred did a lot for gay rights, as his hate was so extreme and public it woke the sleeping middle majority of society and they didn't take his side. Odd comparison was in the 60's and 70's the TV show "all in the family" made racial bigots look like clowns ( bigots being called "Archie Bunkers" wasn't uncommon) .. Always felt that had an impact as I saw people laughing at bigots. Shaming them into shutting it up.. Sometimes a small rock causes ripples that reach very far. Considering where the ending went , I'm especially curious about what book 2 might contain. Recent backlash in the media could open up a lot of interesting things for the next exhibit....
  9. Wonderful story! Ive really taken a liking to gay mystery fiction even if theres not a lot of it out there. This one kept me on edge, made me laugh, and sometimes even got my eyes to leak... Also liked the map links and pictures added to make it more real. Very much drew me into the story with the characters. Any other readers want to reach into the story and take out Ms B just to help?
  10. Hello all. Not new to site but newly registered. I have been reading many wonderful stories here and on other sites. Older (55 gay male) so its a different world for gay men than I grew up in, oddly the history of where we were and where we are is preserved in the fiction on these sites. (sort of fits the past that would prefer we also are fictional eh) Truely enjoy the work done here, I hope those who love to write get as much out of it as those of us who love to read do. Jack
