I've seen so many neighborhoods like this, or an entire town during the 2021 season that I'm getting desensitized to it. It still effects me and is demoralizing during and after the firefight, but it's been a sadly common sight for me over the last several years. The only plus to my time in Australia is something like this wasn't common. I think the entire state of NSW lost a total of 2800 homes during the fires.

Thank you, Raven. I can always count on Casey to give me a good line when it's needed to break any tension. As far as their size, I do kind of like lead characters that have the same build and height as the author. As to the rest, I won't put any spoilers here for future readers. lol. I readily admit after the first few chapters of RWTP, Trevor dropped through the cracks as the character I didn't know what to do with. He's a great guy and vital part of that group of guys, but he's difficult for me to write. I've actually tried very hard not to turn Trevor gay.

It was a good common point of reference for the two and worked out well. You make a good point on the hail that no one else brought up. Once it starts, it isn't going to stop until all the hail stones have fallen or melted. That storm was a real bitch.

Brandon just voiced his opinion on people he only knew through the media. Brody's heart was in the right place to try and save home belonging to his family, but the execution was done in a way that pisses off most people in a situation like that.

Love those pictures, especially the cute koala. It was a nice trip down on those stairs, all 800 of them. As much as I enjoyed the spots like in this picture, the upper portion that clings to the side of the cliff is even better. With 150+ pounds of gear on my back I wish I had the enhanced stamina of my lycan counterpart, Brandon. I'm sure he had an easier time with both directions. I look forward to going back someday and doing it again, without the fire. Carlos made a suggestion during editing to put some type of description of how fit the firefighters were. He figured it would be something about how people worked out regularly due to the demands of the job, which is why most in that field do have nice bodies. Still, he was laughing at how I wrote it, which is kind of what I thought he was suggesting. I lucked out with him as my editor.

Brandon and his wolf talking is long overdue. It's good to have the Parker Valley contingent joining the fight.

From Brandon's standpoint, he likely won't see Lucas again once the fires are done. They'll go their separate ways, so no reason not to tell his history to Lucas. It could either get him support as he still deals with it or it's acknowledgement of his struggles so he isn't annoyed with suggestions to go wolf. The wolf was actually the one being overly impulsive wanting to call to his mate even though humans would hear. Let alone that they're in an area that wolves aren't and I doubt dingos are a problem around the Hunter Valley.

Even though the fires had been burning for a couple months before Brandon got there, since they were hitting the peak of summer the fires were at their worst. Pulling those furry bundles out of the burn area makes for good therapy for Brandon and the others.

It's sink or swim in that line of work. Just the first day with many more to follow.

Lucas was based on a real person and he was a lot of fun just like the character. When firefighters can build a bond quickly over something like being the only two gay members of a crew it helps. Them being able to tease each other without it being taken wrong only adds to it. As for me creating cliffhangers, I don't know what your talking about. 😇

Brandon has a lot in common with them, but he's more comfortable around humans. While he likely suspected he'd work with some shapeshifters he wasn't really prepared for being with a crew of nothing but that. His assault wasn't merely at the hands of his last foster family, but also at the paws of wolves he'd run across before meeting his pack. The Mutts are a good group of guys though. Rowdy and fun-loving even in the worst of circumstances.

Thank you, Raven. I'm glad my husband and Carlos prodded me to write this. Brandon has his demons like many people, just for him it shares his mind and is part of who he is. He did imprint with his mate instead of it being like Ethan and Aiden. Still, it's someone he loves and anchors him to his world. After him having read about CJ's adventures in Oz, through @Carlos Hazdaybooks, I can't imagine him turning down a free trip even if a fire is involved.

Thank you, Raven for the fun and wonderful comments. Part of me still wishes I'd left the story as I originally finished it with Dorian's real death. Still, this revised ending feels better and I'm happy I added it.

That was the favor Dorian had asked of the pair. He knew his end was imminent and wanted to avoid bloodshed among the innocent wolves of the pack. The pair, even stretched thing, could be a healing force where it's most needed.

To quote Kahn Noonien Singh, "Revenge is a dish best served cold." Though the bloodlust of angry wolves could be very hot, their vengeance is likely to be bitterly cold.

Ethan is no actor and his emotions at the funeral were very real, or at least as real as a fictional character's emotions can be.

That's the same reason I tend to like reading a story after it's finished. Also it avoids me getting sucked into a book that never gets finished. Annoyed me the two times that happened, so following how I wrote RWTP as I was posting, the 3 followup books have all been finished before the first chapter posts. The favor could have many meanings.

Karissa Ryan would never be a replacement for a beta since she's already an alpha. Though she might be willing to slit Levi's throat just for the fun of it. With Dorian able to finally see the world he's build around him, or the prison that's been erected around him he needs to figure out what he can do.

Dorian does actually have the skills for his position, but he's put all his trust into one person rather than many. To Dorian, the possibility that Levi could do anything against his best interest would seem unthinkable. While it might be right in front of him if he only opened his eyes, it's too close for him to actually see.

I couldn't justify killing the third nephew since he wasn't part of the challenge, but after seeing what happened to his brothers I'm sure he found a nice quiet spot to stay out of the new alpha's way. It could go either way with Levi's mom. I like unanswered questions at this point in the story, but I've been called evil by some of my readers

Dorian admitted he'd given it to Levi many times. He was just saying how nice it is to have a buddy that bottoms. Levi is his oldest friend, so to Dorian it's the one person he can trust more than anyone.

I agree about it being a bittersweet win. He was happy in his life as it was as a foreman on a logging crew, high up in the hunters, and an advisor to his alpha. He was willing to take on the position, especially after his talk with Luna Wagner, but it wasn't something he wanted. At least the pack knows he will fight for them.
