“Dude, this sucks. I should be out banging my girlfriend instead of stuck at this boring-ass training.” The annoyed blond dropped into an overstuffed chair.
“Damn, Anders, stop the bitching. It’s once a month. And same weekend every month too, so it’s not like you didn’t know you’d be here.” Brandon shook his head. “We’ve all gotta do the time if we wanna keep our fire certification up, and get that hundred bucks the county gives us as reservists. You’ll be back to her and your regular job
When asked for help by his alpha, Brandon Holstrom stepped forward to heed the call. Even though it would mean leaving behind everyone he knew and walk into the unknown of a foreign country, he still agreed. Part of a rare breed who run towards a fire instead of away. Based on the media reports he'd seen, Brandon could only guess what awaits him on the other side of the Pacific Ocean.
Another wonderful chapter. Thank you, Carlos. I so want to be adopted by that family. Not because of the money or the fact the dads are total DILFs. lol. They're just a cool family and teach their kids right.
Yay, another chapter. And another very good one. It's cool having Brad pay a visit to the Academy. Also the flight over the cliff dwellings reminds me that's someplace I'd like to visit. I'm happy now and can get through the rest of my day.
Another great chapter. It's fun learning about Academy life. Some of the little things like Ritch helping the cadet with her pull-ups is a nice touch and showed his potential as a leader.
Always a good day when you post a new chapter. The fact it's on inauguration day, makes it that much better. A wonderful chapter and I want to thank the family foundation for its joint donations to both the American and Australian Red Cross for fire relief.
Another great chapter. I said it before and will repeat myself. You couldn't have come up with a more fitting and wonderful end to such a horrible casserole.
I can't think of a better way to start the new year than to have a new story in the CJ world. It's about time Ritch gets to step out of his brothers shadow.
Like embers on the wind
I'm blown around from place to place
Never sure where I'll land
But set for the blaze when I do
******
Eerily beautiful
Is the nightly blizzard of light
As wind driven embers
Dance in their destructive ballet
******
Grab a hose or shovel
Hoping there is enough water
Or strength left to battle
This miserable year from hell
Please consider donating to the American Red Cross for western wildfire reli
Thank you for the wonderful compliment, Wenmale. As I've said before, Dorian officially died in the original version of the story. If it hadn't been for world events and even me needing something to feel happy about, he would have remained a fallen hero of the story.
I'm tired, but can't slow down,
Foolishly I thought I could rest.
Even joked I'd get called.
It's been one after another;
Everything is burning.
Seems the whole coast is on fire.
All of us need rest, sleep.
Exhaustion is my companion,
But it won't slip me up.
I’ll be ready for the next call,
And no matter how long,
We'll keep fighting these damn fires.
I'm tired and need to sleep,
Because I’m running on empty.
Thank you, bjorde. Like I've said before, Dorian was dead as far as I was concerned, until I decided current times deserved a happy ending. It was fun though to make my readers wait to find out he was alive. 😈
I really enjoyed this when you asked me to beta read it. Relaxing and reading it again today was just as much fun. Like all the stories of yours I've read, this one is wonderful. The fact it's a shifter story make it all the more fun for me.
Thank you, Peter. I almost flipped a coin to decide if I was going to post this last chapter, but decided between the work I'd done and my editors it was going to join the story. It's fun working with what I've already set for Ethan's gifts. Predictable or not, Dorian got a happy ending and will hopefully live a long life with his mate and new alpha.
