  1. That's my evening plan, talking to a friend who works in insurance and whatnot to figure out how to deal with my ever-fluctuating work and income levels.
  2. Sleep well dearie. Sleep tight Thorn Nighty night tim. Sleep well my friend
  3. Chicken soup and meatloaf tonight! Lots of Halls and early to bed, I think. I have to be in whether I'm up for it or not; I'm covering someone and its partway through the contract I'm covering; there's no way that someone else will be prepped in time, given that they would have to bring in their own tech to do the work. Which, incidentally, I'm really upset about, I shouldn't have to bring my own computer in to teach, that should be provided to me but its not. No comment. Nope, not going to say a word about pushing myself too hard >.> <.<
  4. Thank you. I'm not sure how quickly I'll recover... I'm supposed to teach at least the next three days, and the person I'm covering for has said I should be prepared to teach the whole week. Not sure if that's going to be something I'm physically capable of. Enjoy!
  5. I'm fighting off a cold/bronchitis. Lots of coughing and muscle soreness. The timing is not great haha. Lots of fruit juice and wholesome foods... not to mention about 6 packs of cough drops.
  6. Hello everyone, how are we all today?
  7. How are you both?
  8. That's intense! I hope everyone is having a happy new year to start off!
  9. Happy new years everybody!
  10. Thank you. It's mostly just a stye on my eye and a persistent stuffy nose. A quiet, contemplative place to sit sounds absolutely divine right now. @Reader1810 hello! My evening is going well enough. A family dinner starts in an hour or so, until then I'm bashing my head against my thesis wall. How are you?
  11. I'm doing well enough. Minor medical issues, and now writer's block! How goes your day? Good evening Thorn, long time no speak. I am well enough, save for some mild medical issues that should resolve themselves shortly... if they know what's good for them. That and writer's block. Have you had a good day today? Hello Mac. How are you tonight?
  12. Aloha Bertie, how goes your day?
  13. Hello everyone.
  14. I'm allergic to being pleasant with outsiders, and everyone who already knows me has friend zoned me into oblivion's end. Tends to be problematic when finding love.
  15. Good to be backish! Nice to see you @mollyhousemouse
  16. Sleep well Michael. Excellent!
  17. I have not! but I'm a bit manic and caffeinated today, so who knows what may happen! How are you? Its been a quiet holidays for me. Weird to not be spending part of it with my bf, but since we're not together anymore and I haven't gotten a replacement beau its just been me and the family.
  18. Take care Mac. This... is true. We let my second kitten run wild through the house, and in the end he became a little sociopath. Apparently with the first family cat I was a baby and I would grab the cat all the time and she learned that humans are on top of the food chain. Of course I didn't know what I was doing as I was a baby, but it mellowed her out for the rest of the years that she was able to spend with us.
  19. Ooooh, that does sound like a nice idea
  20. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE! OMG SO CUTE!
  21. Nah, I'm going to do what you're doing and just stay at home. I'm trying to get my fourth thesis chapter done by New Year's so I might just stay at home and do that instead.
  22. Thank you Mac, I'm hoping to be teaching in the September 2019 semester, as I don't think I'll have enough seniority to pick up any of the mid-term postings in February. I'm not entirely sure I'd want one anyways; I'm still working on that graduate thesis and I don't want to have to split my duties too much. One of the things my district offers is a priority TOC position, where you get a full year's teacher salary, but you're on call every day. I mean, I'm on call every day right now as well, but the priority position gets first dibs on the day's worth of calls, and you're expected to work every day. The benefit is that once you do a full year of the priority TOC position, you get what's called a continuing contract, which means that the district is contractually obligated to find a full-time position for me in the following year and every other year until I retire. The downside of course being that I'd be teaching a completely different thing every single day, and there's no guarantee that I'd even be qualified to teach what's being asked of me. Which is fine if I'm only there for a day and don't have to do any of the marking or lesson planning, but it would still be exhausting. I'm going to be emailing the district about it in the new year because I have a few logistical questions about how they'd let me know about my daily postings; I've missed a whole bunch of calls for work this past semester because I'm on the ice curling when they call and its an automated system, so I either pick up my phone or I miss it entirely. I'd hate to do that with the priority position since its a requirement you work each day hahaha.
