    Oh dear god no. The last thing I want is to be offered or required to carry a sidearm while I'm teaching my classes. In a policy area with so many bad ideas being thrown around, that has to be one of the worst. Assuming I keep the weapon on me as a teacher at all times, what's to stop one of my students from getting angry and attempting to disarm me? Or accidental discharge? It's just asking for trouble.

    It's becoming a global problem. I teach now (as a substitute this year, but hopefully a full-time position next year) and one of the things we have to do is a monthly emergency drill. In November I got called in and we had to do a complete lockdown drill, so we went through what each of the three stages of lockdown would look like. I think the students were freaked out when they saw someone they didn't know actually walk by our classroom during the drill; the staff knew but the students weren't aware of the drill that day. Society shouldn't accept that this sort of thing becomes a normal part of a child's life.

    WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Hi everyone! How's everyone doing? I hope the holidays have been treating everyone well and that you have been able to see your loved ones and family (blood or chosen). My... hmmm idk what his family relation is but I'mma call him cousin now for simplicity sake. He has a cat similar to that. He just got the kitten a couple days ago and the other cats in his house are terrified of it for some reason, but it looks so fluffly and adorable!

    Life is pretty good. Busy, as you might have guessed from my absence haha. Fell in love, realized it won't work and let that break me a bit but that's okay. I teach fairly regularly now on top of my graduate thesis completely going to hell. My thesis supervisor is gone, no one will tell me the exact details of her leave of absence and my new supervisor wants a near-total rewrite of everything. What's new for you in the last couple months I've been gone?
