    Table For Two

Here's some more keenly-observed comment from our regular email contributor: and

    Table For Two

They're about 15 years apart. If it hasn't been stated in the story already, it will be soon. On your other point, as @dughlas put it: Their lives as gay men are wide apart.

Blimey. Thank you! 💜💜 Welcome to the Eric fan club.

👀😏 You'll have to keep on reading... Felicity is the only person who can take action. Will she? Same answer as above.

    Table For Two

This is at the core of their growing relationship. And as you might expect, there'll be tensions along the way. We get a hint of them already in this chapter.

    Table For Two

Yes, they're from two different versions of the queer universe. Plus, they're men with dissimilar general lives. Keep reading to see how their interactions progress. 😉

    Table For Two

Yes, but it means that Rob largely directs their conversation. If Eric was left to it, there'd be long periods of silence. Maybe with more practice, Eric'll get better.

You and I both know that. Rob? We'll see...
  9. In a brief lull before the lunchtime trade, Brian Metcalfe satisfied himself everything was ready. Fillings, garnishes, bread, all awaited the rush of orders. He'd even allowed Sandra to add home-made pea and ham soup to the day's menu. August was no protection against cool, wet and windy conditions. He eyed the floor and employed the mop again before more wet things deposited water everywhere. A moment spent with his head stuck outside revealed a shaft of sunshine and sounds of dripping.

Yep. 👍👍 It is one area where social media can help. Sometimes. That same video could also be hijacked by those wanting to support the couple. 😕

That you find their conversations so real is in part due to you, dear friend. This story would be the worse for not having you at my side. 😘

I'm not sure 'impress' is quite the right word. Eric's getting new clothes primarily so he doesn't feel so shabby or disreputable in comparison with Rob. A rather different dynamic. 👀😄 Err... I imagine Eric would've backed off, never to return.

It's not the first time Eric's been told he'll be invited. It's almost as though he can't believe it as so puts it out of his mind. It's the first time he's thinking about something concrete like clothes.

It was from Felicity. If her husband had discovered the messages, I doubt whether Felicity would have had a phone still to reply with. True. Felicity doesn't seem to have reached that point yet.

Forgot to say earlier, don't forget we saw Eric shopping in Part 1, though that was entirely utilitarian. Here he's doing it because he wants to.

This story has never really sugared the pill and Felicity's current life is one example of that. I don't set out to upset readers. Instead I'm turning a story into some semblance of life as we know it. There are good bits as well, as you noted. Expect a continuing mixture...

If Emily's allowed inside Felicity's defences, she might be able to help. She's sympathetic, reasonably clued-up, and not otherwise entangled in Felicity's affairs.

First, Fat Rascals, now, knickerbocker glories. 🤨😄 This story will be doing wonders for your waistline. 🍨 Eric is quietly sprucing himself up. Probably as much for his own self-image as for Rob.
  20. Rounding the corner off one of the main shopping streets in Hereford, Andy spotted their destination – a small, exclusive men's outfitters. It nestled amongst a number of bright, specialist shops on a narrow street leading down to the cathedral. He turned to smile at his fiancé as they kept walking. “I've never really noticed them before.” “Not quite what you usually wear?” “Hardly. Jeans and a tee is more my style.” “I'd never have noticed.” Andy frowned. His companion

He does seem to acquire friends haphazardly. Rob is the first person Eric would've pursued with the purpose of friendship in mind.

Yep. I tend to be in the camp who will only read stories once they're done for precisely this reason. 😉
  23. Yes, Rob's going to find it very different. He's used to gay friends who know and are comfortable in their sexuality and who aren't afraid to put that knowledge into practice. Friends is probably enough of a target on both sides.
  24. And of course, we've only just met Rob. We don't really know him that well. Although in an earlier chapter Rob talked about looking for a life partner, it was also in the context of talking about casual sex with strangers. Eric and he have led (and are leading) quite different lives.
