In my experience, it has a more pejorative feel here in the UK. The 'who'd the f*ck want that?' or 'I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole' kind of comment.

It is, but in a way, it's incidental to much of what else is going on. Yes, but Rob is socially experienced and given the nature of his work, new contacts are something he'd probably be keen to pursue.

Yes, here in the UK, we tend to assume everyone celebrates Christmas in the same way. Hopefully, Alan will indeed be in a better place the following year.

I'm not one for writing HEAs but I'd like to think Alan made a new start. To what? Being at peace with himself, making a friend or two, having some connection to his local queer community.

As I say in another comment, nothing much happens in this chapter. What it does however, is set up various situations which will drive the plot forward.

You think? 🤨😄 Yes, they superficially have the same lives but there are as many if not more, differences. Alan thinks about his past through a sexual filter. We have never (as yet) had that from Eric.

@Mawgrim I've no idea how I managed to miss your comment. Sorry. 😳 Yes, the general thought was James being tethered. That was too predictable and didn't really fit the general tenor of the story. I remember loving writing this. Horror is good fun. 😱😄
